Hello thread, I've finally seen Endgame!

The Avengers knew that Thanos killed Gamorra for the Soul Stone, right? So how come the price was a surprise to Black Widow and Hawkeye?

Also Gwyneth Paltrow cannot pull off 'look at me, I'm hard'.

Nobody knew about Gamora. All the Guardians save Rocket got dusted and Thanos wasn't a sharer

Nebula didn’t give two fucks about anyone or anything but thanos though. It makes absolute sense she didn’t tell them.

If that was the case why would she be trusted enough on the team to go after the past infinity stones at all?

Watched this last night and stayed awake all the way through which honestly surprised me. A solidly entertaining 6/10.

Finally got round to watching Endgame last night and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Infinity War felt like a bit of a jumbled mess, but I wanted to see how the story got wrapped up. Again, some of the humour didn't really work with me: Smart Hulk (although only the subtitles ever seem to call him that) in the cafe and fat Thor etc. The inevitable end battle was rather all over the place too, but for a long film, I was never bored. Probably should have watched Antman & Wasp beforehand, but didn't really detract from things much.

I’ve watched Moonknight.

I have an severe case of “can’t give a fuck about Marvel itis.”

The budget is huge, the CG is everywhere etc but it’s so fucking bland and safe. Someone dies at the end of one Kate episode which was a bit of drama but 10 minutes into the next episode and they’re right back. Fuck that noise.

If Dr Strange isn’t Infinity War style good, and I hear it isn’t, then this phase has been very poor with few stand out films. Spiderman was great though.

I quite enjoyed Moon Knight by the end, but it didn't start great and for a 6 episode run, it felt like it took ages to get going.

I haven’t watched Moon Knight yet, but have seen the new Doctor Strange and thought it was really good. Probably not as good as the latest Spider-Man, but good Sam Raimi fun, with some good little bits of comedy and gorey goodness.

Moon Knight was ok, but not essential viewing.

I watched a film - Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

For background on my viewing experience:

I managed to avoid all spoilers and plot points beforehand so it was a fresh experience for me.

However as a fan of movies, I did hear some speculation about the film beforehand…y’know, just people talking, how Tom Cruise might pop up as an alternative universe Iron Man and shit like that that was never going to happen, so I did kinda expect “some” exciting multiverse alternate worlds and stuff.

Oh and I’d watched the latest spiderman too which also had multiverse shenanigans.

Here’s what I thought about the film after I watched it:

1) It was good.

2) Sam Raimi did a good job and it definitely felt something different from the usual Marvel films/TV. Well, to a degree, because it felt familiar at the beginning and end and the middle bit was a riff on The Evil Dead. And just like in the latest spiderman, you got a hell of a lot more out of the experience if you’re familiar watched the things that it was referencing. So if you love TED (or just some of Raimi’s other light hearted horror films) then you’ll have a blast seeing what Raimi is up to in this film.

3) I was very disappointed how few multiverses they actually visit. What was it, like, fucking 2 and only 1 of those is actually fleshed out? We get alternative NY with more grass and trees … and … honestly, that’s it. You get one more where dark Dr Strange resides and hints of other worlds, but, man, it’s a bit thin on multiverse stuff for a film that’s apparently about the fucking multiverse.

4) Seriously, temper your expectations if you’re excited about seeing this for the multiverse. Go watch What If? if you really want to see that stuff.

5) There was very few cameos unfortunately.

6) It had a couple of surprisingly gory moments! Really brief but actually kinda shocking for a Marvel film (not because they’re REALLY gory, I mean, because these films are otherwise entirely bloodless).

7) The horror stuff was great and lots of fun. I especially liked the zombie.

8) I didn’t really give a fuck about the character or the actor or the name of America Chavez, which was a shame because the entire film revolves around her. Her coming of age crap was so tiresome at the end. Seriously, can’t they better than “Character X suddenly gains full control over their powers at the climax when fighting Character Y”.

9) Wanda is not my favourite Marvel character at all. Raimi does a good job of keeping her interesting to a degree, but Olsen’s muted performance really struggles to hold my attention. She does a great job of the big moments, but outside those, I dunno, I just struggle to keep interested in what she’s doing. Plus it doesn’t help that her powers are throwing red balls while floating.

10) Speaking of which I reckon the film starts poorly with all the CG red ball vs yellow circle fight. Yawn. Raimi does a good job once the red balls stop thank fuck.

Oh and you kinda need to have watched Wandavision to know what’s even going on. It’s arguably less accessible than the latest Spiderman as the motivations of the baddie are somewhat obtuse.

Anyway, it’s good, but I thought it was going to do more with the multiverse. Turns out, they did very little with it. That might have been my fault for expecting more though.
