I don't think so, surely they are going to play on the whole Peter loves Gamora, but she doesn't know him.

Can't wait for Asgardians of the Galaxy !

Just back from watching the film. Bloody loved it. Proper chills when the Calvary arrived and it was fucking everyone!

Watching it again on Monday with my wife and youngest two, had to watch it today as I couldn't bear waiting until then, and was getting proper stressed over spoilers.

That was fucking brilliant.

A few bits sagged a little, but it’s a 3 hour film. If you came in cold it would be awful, but as the culmination of all they did it was incredible. So many beautiful call backs.

I don’t think all the logic holds up but I don’t really care.

The cinema erupted quite a lot.

“I can do this all day”
“I know”

“Hulk hate stairs”

“On your left”

The final act, from when they got back to the Avengers building; to the end, was just non-stop amazing.

Loved the unexpected bits. Thanos dying so early, Tony doing the finger snap, Cap with Mjolnir (which got a massive eruption of joy from the audience - loved Thir saying “I knew it!”).

What a movie!

GotG is gonna be The Search for Gamora, ft Thor, and I am totally on board.

Question, who the fuck was that guy at the funeral?

(Checks the internet and finds out)

Follow on question, who the fuck is that guy and why do I care?

Absolutely incredible.

Only a few minor niggles, but other than that... just epic in every sense.

I suspect Tony did dust Gamora, not intentionally as such, but if his “snap” dusted everyone involved with Thanos then it’s a fairly safe bet.

She was conspicuous in her absence at his funeral, and Nebula was there - but he’d met Nebula and spent some time with her - had he ever met Gamora? First he heard her name was the “where/who/why” exchange in IW I think, and he may not have known she was even there.

The humour was pitch perfect. Loved the Thor of New Asgard, and especially loved that he stayed porky for the rest of the film and didn’t magic all his paunch away.

Thanos definitely too strong at the end - they made a big fuss in IW about him only being that powerful because he had some stones, so he shouldn’t have been that troublesome without them IMO.

Movie time travel spods are gonna argue about the consequences of this film for decades - what happens to the Thor that was on Asgard now that future Thor has taken his Mjolnir with him to his future? What happens with Loki after he escapes from Stark Tower?

Incredible acting from pretty much everyone. RDJ nailed the “man at the end of his rope” at the start, Evans and Johannsson getting totes emosh was great, but *man* hows about Tom Holland, eh?

It didn’t feel like a 3 hour movie at all.

The guy that no one has ever seen before. Turns out he is the kid that is in one scene from iron man 3

Yeah, he's the one that helped him with his armour. I'd have never known that if I hadn't recently watched it, though.

Another question: what was Thanos's sword made of that could break Cap's shield and stop Stormbreaker?

@gazChap Didn't Cap take Mjolnir back again?

couple of bits I really liked that I've not seen mentioned so far:

When Captain America gets into the lift with pretty much the same guys from Civil War and the Hail Hydra line.

When Thor wields Mjolnir and Stormbreaker at the same time!

Banner/Hulk Smash

Valkyrie riding a Pegasus (where did she find that?)

Pretty much agree with most of what's been said.

I cried my way through the entire film. :'( :DD

Probably the first film in a long time that I really want to see again.

One more: Stan Lee's cameo (who I first thought was a young Ego, then realised it was a youngified Stan Lee)

I dunno, but it was a bit shit that Cap got hit in the face by said sword immediately after the shield was broken yet was not smashed in half.

Quite possibly, I didn't clock that at the end but I wasn't really looking.

Yeah, power levels were all over the place again, Cap should have been squashed multiple times over.

I did like that the two non-super avengers were sent off together to get a stone. No backup guys? Like take a god with you or something? Nope, they got it.

Yeah, I fucking loved that bit because there was something about the original scene that really impressed me so to see it flipped was excellent. I'm not convinced they'd all suddenly believe that Captain America was Hydra but fuck it, it made for a brilliant watch.

The power levels being all over the place was much worse in this film than in others and it did annoy me more than a bit. Obviously there's got to be a certain amount of people punching each other spectacularly in the face but generally speaking I'd say the important aspects of stories in the MCU are told in other ways. This time around though it felt like things were flexing all over the place in service of whatever the plot needed at any given time which is off-putting. Thanos especially is annoying as fuck in that regard.

Having killed off or taken out of play some of the OG Avengers as expected I find myself concerned for the future of the MCU because, Spider-Man notwithstanding, I'm not sure I care that much about what would have to be the next gen. I'm just struggling to imagine being excited by a full-on Avengers film starring Black Panther and Scarlet Witch or whoever.

I guess the next Avengers are going to be Spider-man, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch and maybe Ant Man?

I had assumed that ageing Cap was the way to essentially remove him from the board without having to kill the character off?

Well, yeah, but that moment plays into what I'm talking about because I don't find Sam anywhere near as interesting as Steve.

You make fair points about the rest of them--including Captain Marvel who I'd completely forgotten about--so I suppose I'm actually saying it'll be difficult to imagine the Avengers without Steve and Tony. And not just the characters but the actual actors who've been carrying so much of the weight of the stories so far.

Surely if one film franchise could afford anyone it's the MCU? They've pretty much made $15,000,000,000 profit in 11 years!

There's certainly a lot of people hating on it. Mind you, so did Helen O'Hara in the Empire review, and Myptian Logic says she's correct.

THAT WAS FUCKING EPIC!

Film of the year? I doubt it’ll be beaten even by John Wick 3. In fact, JW3 hasn’t got a hope in hell. It was absolutely glorious.

When they mentioned it (more Back to the Future than Bill and Ted though) I was half hoping the fix was going to be a Bogus Journey style "We need to leave the mindstone under that rock there, and make sure you leave the keys over there"

Well you guys have done a good job of mentioning all the best bits, but I just chuffed to bits to see drunken Valkyrie again (and have a sizeable cameo to be fair) (and not so drunken, boo).

I didn’t understand how the infinity stones were put on Iron Man’s glove though. Didn’t Thanos need some fucking giant elves to make his glove with the power of a dying sun last time?! Oh, put it on some nano machines, it’ll be fine. Was that ever explained? Not that I was at all bothered, mind, although *urgh* nano machines are so annoying. Although I’m sure I was wondering at the time why Tony didn’t just whistle the glove over to him, unless it was busted or something.

I bloody loved the opening sequence though when Hawkeye’s family were blown in the wind, although I was a tiny bit disappointed that he was the only person standing in a field of about 10. They should have left someone screaming in the background as the music faded in. Actually the music that followed it was a bit weird and didn’t fit the post-apocalypse theme very well.

Thanos’ early death was crazy though. Bloody loved that.

And even though I can’t stand Scarlet Witch, man alive, I was tearing up as she was yelling “you’ve taken everything from me” and opened a family sized can of whup ass on Thanos.

And wasn’t Thanos always that mighty? He did seem extra powerful but didn’t he smash the shit out of Hulk without using the stones at all in part 1? I kinda assumed that he was just hard AF.

Fat Thor was fucking marvellous though. His dad belly was bloody great. War Machine smacking Quinn in the GotG opener was great too.

Oh and the CGI throughout was AAA+. Really really amazing stuff. It just looked gorgeous. And for once I wasn’t bothered by two large CGI armies clashing since the focus was on chasing the gauntlet it just became a wild backdrop for the real action to take place on.

...Actually Captain Marvell fucking a giant ship up (again) was a bit crap.

9.5/10 would watch again.

I thought Thanos was always that tough. As has been mentioned, he took out a fully angry Hulk in the previous movie without using any stones, and even played with him a bit.

Plus each of his minions have had to have multiple Avengers team up to fight them, so it’s only fair that he must be strong AF.

Cap with the hammer was so good. So, so good.

Interestingly, although he had the power stone, it doesn't appear that he actually "used" it during that fight (it doesn't glow)

So the dude at Cap's support group who was talking about the date he had where they both sat there and cried was
a) played by Joe Russo, and
b) the first openly gay character in an MCU film.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. I don’t think he used the stone there at all. He’s just incredibly strong and could likely take out any of the Avengers 1 on 1.

Probably so, although maybe not Thor in his Raggyrock Prime. But fucktonnes to one?

Also IMO Scarlet Witch would have torn him to bits.

I think they will run some sequels (BP2, Capt Marvel 2, Dr Strange 2, GotG 3) and maybe some new stuff (Eternals) and leave it a bit before a full ensemble movie, but with some existing crossover (Thor/GotG).

But when they do have an ensemble then a starting cast of:

Black Panther
Doctor Strange
Captain Marvel
Spider-Man
Ant Man
Thor
Hulk
Captain Falcon

... is pretty strong.

Not to mention backup from:

Scarlett Witch
War Machine
Hawkeye
Any new people
GotG?

And then potentially anything they got from Fox (X-Men, Deadpool).

If Thor stays with the GotG then the rest of the GotG might as well not be there, though.

Probably so, although maybe not Thor in his Raggyrock Prime. But fucktonnes to one?

Also IMO Scarlet Witch would have torn him to bits.

Thanos is a titan, no? Essentially another god.

No, he's *from* Titan; like the moon of Saturn. I don't think a Titan is a thing in Marvel comics. His backstory has him as a Deviant Eternal which means he's super powered to some degree, but having him go toe to toe with multiple Avengers without a stone shouldn't really work.

That's comic Thanos, though. Movie Thanos can, I guess.

You could argue that young Thanos was more confident because he already knew he was going to do the snap.
