I could use the da for a week holiday without a charger. 3ds not a charget. Eapecially on sleep mode it doesn't really sleep

Do you actually play Splatoon?

My son got the amiibo for sinterklaas. Opening up the challenges which means we play it again. Lovely game

So it's £280 with paid online for what is very much 'last-gen' tech (at best), and no bundled in game by all accounts, I do not predict great things.

Apparently you get a SNES or NES game every month with the online service (whatever that may cost), although it seems slightly ambiguous as to if the game is only available for that month and then disappears.

Battery life when used as a portable quoted as '2.5 to 6.5' hours.....

Not many actual games to look at either.

I had some money from my folks and did a foreigner for one of the businesses I work with the other day so that's this paid for. It's almost like I'm getting it for free!

In my mind, I feel like I missed out on the Wii U and I absolutely love my 3DS so I'm not scared to jump on the Nintendo bandwagon again. This will be great, I'm sure of it.

Ask Farage.

I still want one, but I'm probably going to wait for the inevitable Christmas price cut and to see what games are out by then.

Accessories are pricey as well according to the BBC, £57.50 for a pro controller, additional Joy-Con Controllers are £60 and spare docks are pushing £70.

Post subject:  Re: Nintendo Switch (formerly "NX")

Yeah, I just saw this. Most of those items aren't a necessity though but I would like one of the pro controllers... I think... Actually, I can see me using this as a mobile platform more than anything so now I think about it, I'm not sure I'll need one.

Author:  myp [ Fri Jan 13, 2017 10:52 ]
Post subject:  Re: Nintendo Switch (formerly "NX")

Yeah, you wouldn't need a spare dock in most use cases. Pro controller is about the same price as the DS4s were at launch.

I guess it all depends if they want to sell any or not.

And it wasn't that many.

Nintendo have always done that - my first 'launch' Nintendo system was the SNES and there were only 3 titles available - Mario / Tennis / F-Zero

Post subject:  Re: Nintendo Switch (formerly "NX")

The only Nintendo game I'm super-keen on not missing is the new Zelda, which by all accounts is still coming to the Wii-U.

As such I'm more than happy to do a wait and see with the Switch. (I did a wait and see with the Wii-U as well, eventually jumping in with the Mario Kart bundle.)

The mobile aspect of the Switch isn't really of interest, my phone caters for me perfectly well most of the time (Hearthstone!) and for more serious requirements (like the trip away for my brother's birthday last year) I've got my Shield tablet. (Mostly more Hearthstone, but other stuff as well.)

Nintendo are going to have to do an absolute blinder with the Switch's games for it to get any traction IMO, I'm not sure more Mario Kart games for £40-£50 a pop are going to cut it.

GJ and I were in Gamestation for the Wii's midnight launch and they didn't have a lot of the promised launch titles in stock so I ended up buying games I didn't particularly want (the Monster Truck game springs to mind) just to have something to play.

Not sure I'll be getting a Switch. I've no need for another mobile gaming platform, so I can see me getting a PS4 instead at some point.

Smash Bros is still the only reason I want a Wii-U. It would have been nice if there was a Fire Emblem game for it, especially as I think the controller would work well with it, but I doubt there's one planned.

Yeah, Smash Bros too, for sure. And Mario. I've never been that into Zelda - not sure why.

Was there a new Excite Truck?

CEX can hook me up with a pre-owned Wii-U and Mario Kart for ~ £200.

I think it'll drop way more when the Switch is released, though.

Also Captain Toad, Bayonetta 2 and Pikmin 3 are good shouts.

If you have the grunt to run it (and dont mind messing around getting it setup) there is also a Wii-U Emulator

http://cemu.info/

Still very early stages but some videos of it running various games

From the summaries from the various gaming sites this sounds like it will be an absolute disaster.

Author:  TheVision [ Fri Jan 13, 2017 12:58 ]
Post subject:  Re: Nintendo Switch (formerly "NX")

But it'll be the only place to play Nintendo games and that carries a lot of weight, especially in Japan. I can't see it being a disaster. Sure, it may not be as popular as the PS4 or Xbox one but I won't be writing off Nintendo any time soon.

I wasn't fussed but since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is coming to Switch, I'm psyched for it. And the new Mario platformer looks alright. But mostly Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I don't know why they haven't continued Xenoblade Chronicles X storyline though - that was the tits and was left on a great cliffhanger.

Monolithsoft really are the hidden jewel in Ninty's crown (they helped with the new Zelda too fact fans).
