I find it a pretty fun 'grass is always greener' thing. I know loads of Windows users who lust after the Dock, but the vast majority of pro-level Mac users absolutely despise it.

I assume that's because they remember the days before the Dock?

I used to use quicksilver to quick launch things until I realised that in an X11 terminal
Code:
$ open anything.extension

Opens anything and so I didn't need it anymore.

Edit: Oh, and a quick tip for anyone using John's Background Switcher. There is an option for it to suck a correctly ratio-ed image from Flickr completely at random, and use it as your wallpaper for a day. I tried this. The very first day's image was... a great big fuck-off gold swastika. Not really very good.

Maybe it was a Jain dharma?

It was (well, if you mean the Indian religious symbol that I didn't know the name of until your post), but it'd still look a bit dodgy on my desktop. I'm neither Indian nor religious, so I might have trouble explaining it if someone came around for tea...

Apophysis. It's an iterative fractal flame editor, like the one with GIMP. Except not shit. You don't need to know all the complex maths and that, you can just move some triangles about a bit until you make a pretty picture.

I was so thoroughly overjoyed when my son started not only looking, but acting, like Calvin. Sadly his little toy friend is a dog, not a tiger, but you can't have everything.

Dude, I have to live with him. I need to keep him manageable. He can run the evil overlord shit when I need keeping in my old age. For now he's a henchman.
