Fucksticks! I was supposed to be going to the Brewdog AGM tomorrow for beer, food and good music (Idlewild and Twin Atlantic) but not only did one mate drop out midweek as he'd double booked himself but it turns out the other two completely forgot to sort out their fucking tickets at all. And that's after they said they were going to drive us all up as well so it's not like we weren't counting on them or anything. I'm surrounded by fannies.

I've seen that LEGO Worlds has launched as Early Access on Steam, and color me interested etc.

I haven't bought any Early Access stuff before. If I buy it now at €15, does that mean I get to have the final product even if it ends up costing a lot more?

Edit - Ah, found this on Steam:

Steam wrote:
Is this the same as pre-purchasing a game?

No. Early Access is a full purchase of a playable game. By purchasing, you gain immediate access to download and play the game in its current form and as it evolves. You keep access to the game, even if the game later moves from Early Access into fully released.

So I guess that's a yes.

It's wonderful, that thing. It flew over here last year at a fairly low level. Also saw it at Fairford two or three years ago.

Post subject:  Re: Bits & Bobs 45

This is it's last year flying, and this was it's first display of the season. I've got tickets to see it again at Fairford in a month or so.

Weston Super Mare air show a fortnight on Sunday is great, and free, but I'm away then much to my annoyance.

I can't recommend seeing it in flight strongly enough - it gives me goose bumps every time and I shall be very upset when it lands for the last time.

Post subject:  Re: Bits & Bobs 45

Yep. It was nearly grounded at the end of 2013 as the airframe was near the end of its life but they found the money for the work needed and got two more seasons. Now some of the specialist companies they rely on are withdrawing support so this is its last season.

It was fairly good. They messed with some of the rules to make it easier to understand for a lay audience (is that how you write that?), and some of their changes didn't work so well.

For example, they have a new thing called a "running start". The #1 from each team sets off from his goal-line on a 150 yard gallop to the ball in the middle of the pitch. Inevitably when they get there they're going at such a pace that they miss the ball, and the #3 behind them picks it up, but he’s going too fast and only manages to clout it into the stands*, as you can see.

*The ball was also bigger, which seemed to make slicing it much easier. The horses kicked it a lot more often, too.

I spoke to the bloke that ran into me's boss. Said everything looks fine and we are all OK. Told his boss how polite and professional he was as well. Should be the end of it.

There's a sort of companion one called EGX Rezzed in London but on closer examination it's not until 2016 and you can't buy tickets for it yet so there's no way you could've reasonably been talking about that one anyway.

Regardless: Beex clique meet! Other people should come, the tickets are only £17 and it's dead easy to get there as it's right beside the airport and main train station.

I stayed in that hotel when I went. Very nice it was too, but it's actually fairly basic as far as Barbados hotels go.

Five years ago DARPA did the same competition for self-driving cars, and they performed much like those robots. It don't take long.
