I don't know whether to be horribly disappointed, quietly sympathetic or hugely relieved.

Five years ago DARPA did the same competition for self-driving cars, and they performed much like those robots. It don't take long.

It took until year 2 for the cars to reach the end of the desert. It might well have been year 1, but the guys who entered a motorbike forgot to turn the giroscope on before it set off, so it just fell over.

Also, the video is star wars related bits and bobs, not a video of cats. Also also, I thought you hated aggregated threads of stuff as you can never find things in them.

So I'm sat in my office and there's been this intermittent tap on the window.

I'm looking out and can't see anything but I've now just realised that the biggest bee in the universe is trying to break in by slamming his head against the window. He's been at it for the last 30 minutes.

The one we looked again at we sort of decided against. I think it would need a rewire, the full upstairs redoing, damp checking and treating, buying the land next to it/ buying an agreement to cross the land to secure access to the side gates and a fair bit downstairs.

As I know how much all this is likely to cost I suggested we knock 40k from the asking price, then thought we'd reject our offer for taking the piss so watched tv instead.

Because your news is all about me.

Just got back from walking the dog and there seems to be the largest group of primary school children being taught to ride. And by large, I reckon there were at least five hundred I could see while I was standing waiting to cross the road around the corner from my house. Both roads in either direction for several hundred yards were filled with kids on bikes. As you can imagine it was causing traffic chaos.

If we're talking car insurance then the answer is "No." Generally speaking the only thing you need legal expense insurance for is personal injury and there's no shortage of solicitors and claims farms out there willing to take your case on a "No Win, No Fee" basis.

There's a caveat to that though since April 2013 if you take a case on a "No Win, No Fee" then your solicitor can take 25% of your compensation to go towards their fees. Most, if not all, of the claims factories on the telly will do this. Slater & Gordon (who are ALWAYS on the TV) are buggers for this since they have this complicated arrangement that makes absolutely certain that they are nabbing the full 25% off your compensation in every single case.

If you get a solicitor appointed through your legal expense insurance however then they won't take any of your compensation. The likelihood of getting an actual solicitor diminishes however and you'll most likely get a paralegal to do your claim. Mind you, that the same with most firms who still do RTA work since most set-ups in the medium to large firms will have systems in place that make sure you get the least qualified numpty to do an RTA as they are cheap to employ and the money the firm receives is minimal (£500 in most cases).

You don't need to worry however since ole Ian here doesn't take any compensation off (cause I'm not a scumbag PI factory) you so you can save yourself some money and not bother with legal expense insurance and deal with a real solicitor. Who also loves pooty games.

Post subject:  Re: Bits & Bobs 45

I thought so. Thank you for that. The man on the phone (when I was renewing car insurance) was inferring I might need it lest I cause injury to others.

Post subject:  Re: Bits & Bobs 45

Yeah, if you've damaged or injured someone or something, then the insurance will sort that out. That's what you pay your premiums for. Insurers are just as bad as banks trying to sell you their "products".
