Had a rubbish journey in this morning g. It took 90 minutes to do 15 miles. Because I worry about the car overheating I have the blowers on full hot. I explained that I didn't call to say I was going to be late as it policy says it equipment must be in the boot of the car when travelling. Came in and TOO MUCH TO DO.

Edit: and I am missing netrunner tonight because I am going out with my boss and my colleague.

Boo!

I think the long trip in was karma payback for my using the empty right hand lane and then merging at the pinch point. the car I was merging in front of was a right grump about it and only let me in as their path was about to be blocked by a parked car.

Fuck that, you had absolutely every right. I hate it when cunts just queue in the left-hand lane for half a mile, completely pointless.

Unless Mali blocked an otherwise free-flowing right-hand lane, though.

Oh yeah, that happens near my work and it's infuriating. I was assuming he meant it was just a two-lane highway merging into one.

No, it was right at the very end where the 2 lanes narrow into one. No sense merging until that point.

Oh right, fuck that then. No point in leaving a lane empty and causing longer tailbacks.

The highly visible dents down the left hand side of the ka aid merging.

Here it is. The two lanes just sort of stop as the road narrows past the junction. There are no arrows or anything to guide. About 100 yards further on is a set of traffic lights.

I broke up from work yesterday until the 4th or 5th January. I booked it off but it wasn't signed off... I presume it would be ok, otherwise I would have been told wouldn't I?

Went to the coffee shop today and opened up the shownotes to a photography podcast I was listening to. Stacey Kranitz, wonderful photographer of Appalachian communities, has won Time Magazine's Instagram Photographer 2015. Followed the link to the Time Magazine website and saw to my surprise that they used a portrait I took of her two months ago in Cardiff using her phone for her instagram feed to illustrate the article.

Which was nice.

Um, not sure. To be honest, it's part of her journey, her feed, I think you could technically claim copyright but it wouldn't feel right to me. Now if I had set it up as a portrait shoot, if I had put my own choices into it, then yeah, I'd be rattling sabres. But she handed me her phone, stood against a wall and I took the shot.

My own version of this is on my website blog, by the way, the latest entry. About half way down with a few more shots of her and her talk.

She's a fascinating woman, she journeys through the Appalachian hollows recording her experiences and interactions with the locals there and her sexuality as a woman who's both an outsider and a photographer. And let me tell you, the hollows are a whole different world; neglected, mocked, feared and victimised by the rest of America. She's really worth following. I had a great conversation with her about it, and later at the bar she looked at my own work and had some really nice things to say, especially about the US Civil War stuff.
Here's the linK:

http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F% ... BkKjOs4dxw

Anyway, I expect you all to call me, "Time Magazine Photographer Nervous Pete" from now on. Because it is technically correct. THE BEST KIND OF CORRECT.

Fans of the yearly Yuletide treat Excellent Radio would do well to DM a certain twitter user and say "Can I get a Radio URL, Guv?".

Right now it's playing Swords of a Thousand Men by Tenpole Tudor. Fun!

Apparently I'm now in love with Jennifer Lawrence. She is beauty-full. Just ignore that this clip is of her talking about some sex scene, I'm not interested in that, I'm just thinking wow, she is very pleasant looking.

I'm pretty sure it's your copyright, and I'm also pretty sure you'd be a dick to do anything about that under the circumstances. HTH HAND :)

(This made me curious about holiday snapshots. Reading on, it seems the general legal view is that if you ask a passing stranger to take a snapshot of your family with your camera then although they technically own the pic you are considered to have an implicit non-commercial licence to it.)

I saw a hipster in Batley this lunchtime. Beard. Top knot. Ironic Christmas jumper. He was pushing a trolley around Tesco looking forlorn with two kids in tow. This is a turn up for the books.

It wasn't me, I haven't ventured outside Wakefield all week, until this evening, although I DID have someone of a similar description on my courses today..... Except for the festive jumper.

Mothers Teresa is to become a saint, after The Pope agreed that it had been conclusively proved that she performed a miracle by curing a man of brain cancer in 2008.

It is worth noting at this point that she died in 1997.

Emphasis mine.
I love that. So not just cured without medical intervention, but cured by her and not, say, by St Francis of Assisi. Did she initial her handiwork or leave a calling card?

No Cities Skylines? They're talking shit then.

Also! Hipsters! In Batley? Woah - I lived there for six years and I didn't see one!

And don't worry, I'm sure I'll get in Time Magazine under my own steam, one day! xx
