Anyway, we’ll be fine. I realised while watching QT last night (I know I shouldn’t*) that much as we may fantasise about kicking brexit indefinitely into the long grass where it may be forgotten, if it’s still lying there in 2022 there will be a general election (or earlier of course).

With the Farage party currently polling at 28% on the Europeans, that’s not a good thing, even if UKIP never won more than a smattering of seats in the Old World.

*Farage was more Farage than normal, but concerningly the audience was even more sycophantic for his bullshit than normal too.

Realignment-a-go-go!

If the Tories decide to recapture support by adopting UKIP/Farage Party policies and attitudes, Labour would not benefit from occupying the vacant ground without risking alienating sufficient existing voters who could always go elsewhere.

I want my vote to be a clear and unambiguous vote for remain, that also has some value to it. Not sure what to do to be honest, lib dem, change or green seem like my options?

Yesterday I had leaflets through from Labour, the Conservatives and the Brexit Party. They all arrived while I was out posting my vote off though, so all pretty pointless. End up going with Lib Dem, but it was either them or the Greens.

However, today I've had a Pizza Hut leaflet through and now want to vote for them instead.

Why not look at which groups the various parties will be joining in the European Parliament and reading the manifestos they offer? I know that treating this as a continental election on EU-wide issues is a bit of a niche approach, but might give you a way to decide.

Alternatively, read up on the top three names on each list and see if you think they would make a good MEP.

Serious question - and maybe this is just the bleeding obvious - but is that same idea why so many Sci-fi (and fantasy, but it's the sci-fi ones that surprise me) have kings, nobles and the like? It always seems strangely discordant to me.

Hmm, yeah, that'd be their case. I find Star Trek's Federation, or The Culture, much more tempting, though - they feel like some kind of evolution. Having kings and the like doesn't seem like a gritty recognition of the failings of humans, just a lack of imagination, and a kind of frotting-over-powerful-leaders fantasy.

Yep, she's trying to break the deadlock by passing the necessary legislation for the withdrawal agreement. I can picture a scenario in which Tories and much of Labour vote for it on second reading, to show they are "getting on with it", prior to savaging it in committee stage and third reading. And then it'd go to the Lords.

Her determination might be admirable, were it not so desperate.
