Or set up our own trade deals?

That sounds like quite the shitty option.

There is no option where we can setup our own trade deals. The EU is our biggest market, why would they give us a deal that isn't a customs union and single market? That leaves us trading on WTO rules, which are terrible, and having to try and sort out deals with other countries, which will take years to setup.

It's either revoke, or customs union with single market, anything else is an economic disaster.

You know, back in that crazy summer of 2016, I thought that would be the logical solution to a narrow Leave win. I probably would have gone along with it.

And those are the only options that answer the Irish Question.

Found watching an MP quit his party live quite moving. I could hear his voice breaking.

It only needs a handful more Tories to quit before they lose their majority even with the DUP. What the heck will happen then? Please, please not another General Election.

Has to be really. Not seeing an opposition coalition being possible. I can see May trying to carry on with a rump and assuring everyone everything is still going according to plan.

I really felt for him. The raw emotion in his voice was hard to listen to.

Here’s the vote breakdowns; the broad answer to “why didn’t anything pass” is “because Tories.”

I was in Singapore recently with a bunch of other folk from around the Asia-Pacific region and a lot of them asked me about Brexit.

The response from me tended to be 'I'm really quite embarrassed about all this' and 'what a fucking mess'.

That house was covered with flags again today, along with another handwritten sign saying "OUT IS OUT" and a bit of paper saying "STUFF DEAL" taped across it.

At least one person in the city is happy with how things are going.

For fuck's sake, Twitter, here we go again.

My tweet was in response to:
Attachment:
Untitled 4.png

If anyone can tell me how I've promoted violence against, threatened, or harassed other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease, I'd be most obliged. The only thing I'd change about my tweet is add the word "or" between the two reasons, for clarity.

I've a feeling it's the word "cunt" they object to, but if so, I strongly disagree with their stance, and would like to see their reasoning. (Seemingly Americans only call women cunts, for some reason.)

(Apologies for drifting slightly off-topic, but the tweet was Brexit-related.)

Stupid cunts. :)

The annoying thing is (along with the bizarre idea that I've pissed off the intersection of leave voters, women, Americans and people who read my tweets, which I think is a pretty tiny intersection) that in order to be able to tweet, rather than wait a few days for them to read my appeal and decide to overrule it because they're American, I've removed the "offending" tweet, so that I may tweet once more, and they'll take this as me withdrawing my appeal.

Oh well, private company, their rules, using it is a privilege, not a right, etc.

Meanwhile, Brexit! How's it all going? Pretty well, I hear?

They're trying to change this perception by having one in the White House.

I'm struggling to think of many women who've actually told me they don't like it. I can only think of one (who was actually telling my colleague to stop using it, rather than me), and she was not someone of whom I was a big fan. I recognise that some (many?) may have disliked it without mentioning their dislike though.

Most women with whom I've been in the kind of social situation where the word might be used, have not been shy in using it themselves.

I'm not of the opinion that Americans are more "progressive" than us in their attitudes towards the word, but that's mainly because the fact that they've traditionally only used it to insult women seems more sexist to me than our catch-all usage.

Along similar lines, I had an interesting disagreement on Twitter the other day, with someone who objected to me peddling t-shirts with "Fuck Brexit" on them...

It can be quite region specific in my experience. In Scotland--and especially in Glasgow--it's used a lot more liberally and to cover more cases so is less likely to be taken as particularly bad; but even at that I've still noticed some people (women especially) shudder at it's useage.

One of the things that infuriates me most about brexit is when ill-educated halfwits like Marc Francois start talking meaningless tubthumping bollocks without revealing the slightest grasp of the complexities of international law and trade, the outlets fucking queue up to put his ridiculous greasy frog face on their news shows and his vacuous quotes in their newspaper columns.

Think of it this way: you're the office junior at Globelink and you need to fill airtime on a one hour programme. People like Francois are usually available to reach at short notice, so you reach for their number.

Fuckwits who want a No Deal Brexit are the same fuckwits who think that the UK will have the USA over a barrel in trade negotiations, and won’t just get totally screwed over by a much larger economy.

America telling the UK and Australia, its population inferiors, how their words work.

The idea mildly amused me on my lunchtime walk.
