The City Council are flying the EU flag from their mast today. Which is nice.

I’m at a cyber security day part funded by the EU.

One of the presenters is making pro brexit comments about how this should be a momentous day.

Why would you do that?

Knowing that, even if your audience was a snapshot of the population at time of original vote, about half would be anti-Brexit (and likely a lot more at this stage and the likely demographic of the audience).

As it's increasingly looking like that the point of Brexit was not leaving the EU, but the lessons about our constitution we've learnt along the way, I've just noticed that we have yet to have a tie in a House of Commons vote. I still mostly think 48 is the likely result today, but wouldn't be unsurprised if in their desperation for a proper Friday cliffhanger the writers throw this one at us.

I hope it's closer to 46 than 64, I've got a bet riding on this with a mate.

We have been doing this for all the meaningful votes, I am 2:0 up so I can't actually lose the season now, unless we have MV4 and MV5 and MV6.....

Heh, ace.
It's going to end with us all crammed into a pub watching MV67 on a big screen, isn't it?

Yep, it would have still been foolish to be vocally pro remain, even though the audience is more likely to be that way inclined.

Anyway I gave him a rating of 0 on the feedback form with a note to explain why.

I’m surprised that he ventured an opinion on it in either way. It’s a massively divisive topic no matter which side your beliefs fall, so it seems odd to pop it into proceedings with no need.

Wow! More than I thought.

Just listening to the Prime Minister now. She's doing the disappointed headmistress again. I suppose some Tory backbenchers like that kind of stuff.

I still don’t know why the subtitle says “Mannequin Piss” or similar.

Dominic Grieve, the Tory MP who's done a lot over the past two years to ensure Parliament is involved in the process, has lost a confidence vote held by his local party and now faces deselection. I reckon this is going to be the first of many such examples as former UKIP people flock to the party and existing members harden their positions.

Of course, the solution as Nick Clegg said in his book (written before he turned to the dark side), would be for pro-EU people to all join their local parties to redress the balance. He's probably right on that, but unless someone starts a massive Kickstarter with custom metal chips, a proper wooden gavel, and a promise of six expansions, I'm not really interested in the 'Committee Room' game. Or indeed sharing my precious social life with the kind of people who spend all their free time with political parties.

I wonder if the logical end point of that is something like America, where local membership of parties is vastly increased compared to what we're used to. And in turn, party-based democracy like leadership elections become increasingly to resemble national elections.

On another topic, even by her sky-high standards, Hyde is on crackling good form: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... tive-party

A local church is running daily Brexit prayers "extended until 12th April".

I think the Almighty has more important issues to be dealing with, such as saving the Queen.

And more depressing stuff to end the day with

https://twitter.com/EmmandJDeSouza/stat ... 5451927552

But basically anything on her twitter : https://twitter.com/EmmandJDeSouza

https://twitter.com/EmmandJDeSouza/stat ... 7515375616

So basically the UK have redefined what nationality people in Ireland are - those born in Northern Ireland are no longer 'Irish' but 'British' despite what the GFA states and without telling anyone that they just removed all their rights as an Irish citizen

Not really. Northern Irish would still be British citizens rather than having the choice to be Irish - but they would at least still be EU citizens.

The EU allows things like the settlement scheme for anyone residing for longer than three months. If we stay or rejoin, I'd be unsurprised if the Home Office kept it going as a backdoor to a full identity card system.

Best we can hope for is staying in the customs union and single market.

So, as we were before, but now with no power to influence anything.

Fucking Parliament live in my free time on a Monday evening, watching political commentary on Twitter, and reading the technical details of parliamentary indicative votes.

I COULD BE WATCHING SANTA CLARITA DIET.

David Cameron can fuck off, and so can Theresa May.

At least 4K power makes HEARTHSTONE possible at the same time.

That sounds like quite the shitty option.
