You didn't manage it within the week, if I recall correctly. Didn't you have to still hunt down some pigeons and take advantage of their deadline extension?

I agree, with one exception.

I don't know, our epic jumps across the river and that one hilarious rescue at sea were pretty good.

Ah the sea rescue. I had great fun luring a Dave out there with the whinge of a broken boat.

I greatly enjoyed decapitating someone on the back of said boat with the rotors of my helicopter.

Does the skycrane helicopter in GHEY TONEY allow you to pluck boats out of the sea? What about wreckage?

I think the racing would have been alright multi-player if it wasn't for all the lag. The races where you start on foot were alright but it was pretty much luck with who could get a fast car as quick as possible.

I played a bit online and the lag ruins it. In a game where it's all about quick reactions and dodging stuff, to have people warp into the side of you turns it into a game about luck.

You then find yourself on a moped and you can't do anything except go find a bus or truck or something to park across the road to screw up the other racers on their next lap. While this does sometimes lead to excellence, it's also a bit shit.

Indeed, the best multiplayer modes seemed to be Cops N' Robbers, and Hangman's Noose.

Dimrill repeatedly shooting Petrovich in the nuts at the rendezvous point had me dying with laughter. And then I needed to go and DRINK! And forget the bloodshed!

Nope. The other guy (Kat Williams) is funnier, in much the same way that being shot in the arm is better than being shot in the head.

The way the comedy club patrons whoop and hoot with laughter at Gervais' routines seems a pretty accurate depiction of morons who think he's the funniest person who ever lived.

My mother was always a fan of the radio stations in the old games (the talk shows and adverts) so I showed her the 'I'm Rich' thing on the TV which was good... then afterwards a show of Gervais came on and she actually recoiled in horror.

Delayed indefinitely, they said there hasn't been a successful MMO on console so its concentrating on the PC, it might come out eventually. The PS3 MMO The Agency seems to have disappeared as well.

You are worse than Mr Chris.

MetalAngel wrote:

The idea always seemed better than the execution. Games tended to be either "Get ambushed by cops at beginning" or "Cops never see robbers at all" Or in one memorable occasion "Game bugs out horrifically, and despite having been flying away in the escape vehicle for 30 seconds, and so not only should the game be over, but the helicopter should be massively out of range of any firearm, man manages to headshot pilot"

Episode owning peeps! What benefit/negative is there to the disc-based episodes as opposed to the downloaded ones? I've heard that some of the elements from the download ones integrate themselves into the 'main' game (radio stations, some of the new equipment) while the disc ones are only integrated with each other.

I've only played TLAD so far, but the radio stations are much better. Subjective, of course.

You'll love the racing as it's effectively Road Rash for a new generation.

I understood the question. I guess the only drawback is that you have to swap discs if you want to go back to Niko. I just like the fact that I don't have to put up with a lot of the crap music from the main game.

One part of me says "I want all that extra stuff for Niko!" before another part says, "Why? You can just put the other disc in and arse around as Hairs The Biker or Diego Chico Jose with the new stuff instead."

It's stupid. All I have remaining to do in GTAIV is the stolen car list and meeting the random people on the street.

Well the disc's hovering around fiddeen at the moment whereas downloading would cost you 3200 points. I regret the download of the first one simply because GTA IV handles like a lazy fucking dog. I've been off and on trying to play it again recently and the irritating saunter that passes for movement irritates me no end. And having to batter the button to sprint feels incredibly stupid after Saints Row 2. Watching the guy saunter slowly around a bike to lazily pick it up after crashing during a race had me screaming obscenities at the screen. You can't interrupt it! Oh no, you can't fucking interrupt it even if you're being shot to death while he's idly scratching his arse.

All of what Dimrill said is why I'm really struggling to get back into the game after abandoning it a year ago when I got stuck. I always intended to go back to it, but all the movement (especially in cars) seems really drawn out and tortuous compared to other games I've played since then. I find it almost unplayable now, which considering that first time around I played it solidly for a couple of months and enjoyed it a lot is a big shift.

It's very annoying. Takes hours to get a feel for it, then it becomes bearable. They definitely need to iron it out for Vice City 2.

I've recently started playing this again right from the start, I'd forgotten how unusually bloody good it really is.

I have both sets of DLC to play through as well, but I'm going to play through the main story all over again first.

The cars handle fine once you get used to them, and in keeping with GTAs of old the first cars you get your hands on are pretty crap compared to the later stuff.

It is all about what you get used to. I had no problem with the car handling/character movement when I first played it, because it was the game I got with my 360 and it was all I played for a couple of months. And then I started playing Saints Row 2 and various other shooters of similar styles which handled totally differently, and now GTA4 feels very jarring.

I do plan to go back to it from the start though at some point (when I run out of games and money to spend on games) and acclimatise on the easy levels again, and hopefully eke out some proper gamerscore off it. After a week of playing it most evenings then I expect I won't be too bothered any more by the things that making me gag at the moment.

I keep thinking about going back and doing some whoring, but I know when I do, I'll be immediately bugged for not phoning chums. So I don't bother.

Can't you just turn that bit off?

Alas, I'm doing Stevie's stolen car list and you don't get his texts directing you to the next one unless your phone is on. Still, when Roman wanted to go fucking bowling, I finally managed to get the 'Turkey' cheevo.

Don't forget you can accept whatever shite it is your friends want to do, then immediately call them back to cancel with no loss of reputation with them.
