We've got the go ahead to order our smartphones. We're ordering them through an organization we're linked with and they have 3 options we can choose from. Our work phones will be used mostly for calls, texts and emails initially.

When we develop our own accross platform apps around mental wellbeing, we will need to have them and be demonstrate them to clients on our phones. They'll be pretty basic apps really.

The 3 options are:
Samsung Galaxy s5
Samsung Galaxy s5 mini
HTC one m8

As ever, all advice appreciated. :-)

All good phones - the S5 is more powerful than the S5 mini, so knock that off your list unless the S5 is too big.

The HTC is slightly bigger than the S5 (it has a smaller screen, but better speakers) and a tiny bit less powerful, but the software (in my opinion) is a little nicer to use. The S5 has better battery life, though.

Basically, the S5 is the better phone, but it's so close between that and the HTC that you might want to put your hands on them to see which one you like using the best before deciding.

If you can't do that, get the S5.

Tricky;

* I'm not generally a fan of Samsungs. They're expensive because (IMO) you are paying to support a massive advertising budget and the zillions of needless modifications made to Android. Plus it's anyone's guess when they'll get updated to Android 5.0, the big release that's just coming out now.
* The Galaxy Mini is usefully smaller than the other two. Might be a factor.
* The M8 is probably the nicest phone there for personal use.
* But the Galaxy S5 has water/dust proofing (could be useful for phones getting used in the field) and a slightly bigger battery.

They are all more than capable of doing the job you want, though. How many are you ordering? Is there any latitude to get the vendor to loan you some demo units for a week?

Disclaimer: I've touched all of these but I haven't used any of them for an extended period of time.

And yet the Nexus 6 is expected to be £10 more expensive than the S5 ;)

The M8 bends more than iPhones, fact.

Thanks all! There's 3 of us involved in the decision. One says Galaxy mini, the the other and myself say absolutely not! Leaning towards the HTC. Of course, I've not seen the costings of the contracts yet, so hope the difference isn't so much it tips things back towards S5, or even the mini!

We're getting 40 phones. Don't think we'll have the option to try them first - and we desperately need them ASAP.
