Dear God, the people in charge of advertising this film are getting it so right.

You think? I think that poster would put a lot of people off. Deadpool isn't exactly a high profile character like Spiderman or Batman. I would have thought the film wouldn't benefit from misleading posters like that.

Deadpool also isn't a film that is likely to attract viewers who haven't heard of it yet. Those who've heard of Deadpool will be highly entertained by the poster, those who haven't probably weren't going to see it anyway.

Which is why I don't think the marketing people in charge of this film are doing a good job. Surely they should be attracting everyone to the film? New and old fans alike?

Anyway, this is only one poster. I'm pretty sure they're getting paid enough to know what they're doing so the wider marketing is probably more appealing.

Not everything has to be bland mass-market lowest-common-denominator stuff. Sometimes it's OK to try and be loved by a few instead of liked by a lot.

I'm not saying fans or people who've read the comics, I'm saying that niche of people that pays attention to pop culture. You'd know about Deadpool by this point, even if you'd never read a single comic.

Also, most of the current Marvel output is aimed at the mass market. Anti-hero stuff is obviously going to be more tricky to aim. Deadpool and Suicide Squad are unlikely to make as much at the box office as Avengers, but they're really important for keeping the savvy fanbase on board.

Yes, that's patently ludicrous. Although some internet rando calling a woman a whore (even in 'character') for trying to do something for her son isn't particularly funny imo.

What the fuck is wrong with these people?
1) Why does that kid even know about Deadpool?
2) Why does she feel so entitled that she feels that she should have something she has no input or control over should be changed to meet her pointless desires
3) Why does a person completely unconnected to these events feel the requirement to call her a whore for doing so?

It's cool, she doesn't want the existing film changed, she just wants an entirely separate cut to also be released! Because creating and releasing two entirely separate cuts of the same film simultaneously isn't a ludicrous idea and logistical nightmare. She also said this on the petition:

Quote:
There are so many great comments here - from other kids like Matthew who are eager to see the movie to adults taking a stand that "funny doesn't have to be inappropriate"!

She's not a whore and that's a completely needless and inappropriate insult. She is however a massive, massive, massive arsehole.

Deadpool is part of the MCU, which means he's part of the cartoons on Disney XD. He's really well realised in most of them, too - here he is in Amazing Spider-Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yCwGnuJPqY

Also he's in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (12) and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 (PG), and plays the role of the tutorial narrator (and a playable character) in Lego Marvel Superheroes (U).

Also there's a child-friendly trailer, which they put on before Star Wars yesterday.

That does seem like a weird move on their part and it seems to be where idiot-face has got her idea that doing a separate cut of the whole film is workable.

Fair enough, Marvel/Disney do seem to have been a bit weird there, but I stand by my last comment, and mostly by my 2nd as this level of self-entitlement grates on me.

It's not uncommon to show down-rated trailers for 15/18 rated films, is it? Pretty sure that the adults sitting and watching star wars are pretty bang on the target audience for Deadpool.

I am right in thinking that a kid can totally go and watch an R movie in America as long as there is an adult with them?

She should take this kid anyway, and have many interesting discussions about the violence and sexual themes afterwards.

I already said in my original reply that it was irrelevant even in character. It's still some internet rando calling a woman a whore. It doesn't exist inside a bubble - you must think of the wider implications.
