She mentioned cuts to the dial a taxi thing for disabled/elderly. Stuff to do with trains/busses not being as frequent, something to do with going back on Social housing commitments and there was something else to do with Care as well which I can't recall, and I am sure there was something else too. It was all stuff I wasn't aware of because I thought (from Living in Devon) that he was doing a good job and was perceived as doing a good job (other than moans about stabbings in Right Wing Papers). Sorry its a bit vague, but it was a conversation we had back in August.

Won’t all of those cuts come down from central government though, not the mayor’s office?

I think the Mayor is ultimately in charge of TFL though? I don't actually know about the rest.

TFL doesn't run either trains or buses, they are all contracted out and TFL manage those contracts.

But presumably those companies have to say to TFL, we'd like to cut X, Y and Z and increase A, B and C and TFL have to agree, and then the head of TFL has to go to the Assembly and/or Mayor and say we've allowed them to do this? With the Mayor/TFL having some say over if it happens?

Or at the worst they would lose their contracts like Uber almost did (don't they have some sort of temp stay of execution going on at the moment?)

Eh, not really. They'll have a degree of discretion baked into the contract. Most likely there will be a minimum service level guarantee, down as low as an hourly service, with the contracted vendor having flexibility to lower or raise frequency depending on demand.

Even by Owen Jones's standards, this is amazing.

What’s wrong with it specifically?

You can hear him making the loop in the lower case y in Corbyn into a heart shape. It's crazily gushing, even by his standards.

So no specifics, just a general feeling you have. Ok!

I mean, I don’t necessarily agree with a lot of it, but it’s reasonably written imo

I think it's probably best if I give the Queen's Speech a miss this year. Not that any of it will be implemented, after all.

The whole Syria thing is sickening, too.

I like the bit where she resigns.

I just saw the summary. My anger is only tempored by the hope that none of it will come to pass.

Still, at least Charles got to dress up for his work experience day.

Absolutely.

Those poor kids of IS members, stuck with nowhere to go and waiting for the bombs to drop. It was heartbreaking to see that girl on the news last night. Mother and father dead. Three siblings dead. She can't remember the name of her grandma, who lives in the UK and who may be the only adult relative she has left and yet she seemed calm and lucid as she spoke of all this. And some kids have disappeared after a break out. I can't imagine how they can possibly manage to stay alive and sane.

Skimmed some of the Queen's Speech debate. Corbyn was ok, but, as ever, Ian Blackford was better. Quote of the day goes to North Herefordshire's Bill Wiggin (Con):

Quote:
Another gripe I have is this vegetarian nonsense. I have absolutely had it up to here. Someone who really cares about the planet should eat grass-fed meat. There is no way that human beings can consume grass. It makes sense to turn the grass that grows across 60% of our country into protein, and the way to do that is to allow a sheep or cow to eat it and then consume the animal.
