I had 5 years' worth of hair lopped off on Saturday. On the upside, I now look approximately 20% less like the Comic Book Guy. On the downside, my show-stopping Cousin It impression is now a thing of the past. Oh, and I keep going to take my hair down, realising I haven't got any then curling up in the foetal position and crying my face off.

Between this and the hour that was stolen from me by bastard farmers, it's been a trying weekend. So, gentle reader - do YOU have any tales of haircut-related high-jinks?

Ouch. Eesh. I've had my hair cut once in 3.5, maybe 4 years now. I need to be fatter/more muscular in order to pull of the Bald 'n' Beard look though. What made you do it?

There comes a time when you have to accept you're going bald, and that having no hair on top but loads down the back just looks like desperate overcompensation.

Or worse, like Mark Knopfler.

Plus, washing it was a pain, it looked generally scraggy and awful and I realised that I was keeping it long only because of inertia. The last time I had my hair cut it was only down to collar-length for my wedding about five years ago, so it's not been really short since I was at school.

Two days on and I'm down to 40% traumatised, 60% sure it was the right decision. But still, you know?

I did it eight years ago, and have never looked back. Buzz cut > floppy locks.

Wahl Clippers no guard FTW!

Male pattern baldness had the final say with me. I did have long hair when I was about 17, just remember it being a pain in the arse really. Then I stuck with shortish hair cuts until I was about 21 before thinking "Fuck paying £5+ for a hair cut".

My hair is starting to go from the front, but there's nothing to be gained in trying to hide it. I generally keep it short, as when it starts to grow it curls horribly which, with a receeding hairline, just looks ridiculous.

I had waist length dreads, which was probably about 7 years worth of hair growth, cut off completely when I finished Uni years ago. For two days I was dead pleased, then it hit me what I had done and I nearly cried. After about 3 or so months, I got used to it and felt I definitely suit short hair a lot more. The hair line is creeping back a bit these days, so I've now no choice anyway :)

Wait until the hot summer and you will feel so liberated without long hair, it's great!

I've been told to keep my long locks by the wife-to-be. It's a general dislike for hairdressers that keeps me away.

I did have it cut off for a job about a decade ago. Went to local metal club, spent five minutes on the dancefloor trying to headbang and it just wasn't working. The DJ looked at me, grinned, shook his head and I went on cheap drinks for the rest of the night.

Edit: Could have been worse. Mate of mine had his long hair cut off for charity. He planned to grow it back, but it was coming back grey.

Why bother wearing a fake, stick on beard? Just be yourself....

Got long hair at the sides and back? Then why not put it to good use:

I'm quite liking having short hair now. But I do want a white skullet at some point, so I can backcomb it and pretend to be the Weetos professor.

I had three years worth of hair cut off for charity back in 2003. I felt much better as I didn't look like Andrew WK anymore.

I haven't had a haircut since about 2002. It's far easier to just hack at mine with scissors every three units of time (with each unit measuring one third of the total number of units), since it ends up looking the same either way.

I get a cut (inch and a bit off the top, trim back and sides with number three, please) every five or six weeks.

Doing so takes about five years worth of age-lookin' off me. Unless I get said cut so often, it becomes an absolute pain in the butt to maintain.

Everytime I do something new with my hair, Mr Beckham gets his done in the exact same way, which pisses me off as everyone then asys I have copied him with his haircut. And once, I had this awesome pair of trainers, and then, 3 weeks after that, I saw HIM with a pair EXACTLY THE SAME!

Have you ever considered that you are, in fact, David Beckham?

Do you tend to fall asleep before a football match happens, then wake up a few hours later utterly exhausted?
