The pointless emulation thread - fruit machines
Also, gambling talk and stuff.

That total profit there, how long a period is that over?

I must admit, I haven't got a clue when it comes to gambling but it certainly seems like you're working the system.

Since the last week of May. June was spent building up my bankroll as I started with £200 which I've now paid back into my main account. The dip in July is when I had a full-time job and couldn't devote much time to it. I made over £1k in both August and September and it's looking good so far to beat that in October.

Good to see banking options like these to help curb online gambling addiction. I'd have loved access to a service like this a few years back.
Well this just got a lot fishier.....

If I do a David Kelly, I leave my fruit machine emulation collection to charity.

"We do not question the legitimacy of the slot or push gaming"

Errr... yes you do and yes you are.

I suspect they have to say that from a legal standpoint.

I suspect they think that will protect them in some way, but I really doubt it does.
If you're interested, or really bored, here's my explanation of how Jammin 'Jars works. (This isn't my opinion BTW, it's factually accurate as to how it works.)

I have no idea what this means.

You've obviously never seen opinion presented as fact before.
It's just to clarify that 'my explanation' isn't something I pulled out of my bum, but is a factually accurate explanation of the game's mechanics, intended to clear up the confusion and suspicion that was swirling around it.
Oh right, I thought you meant that it was factually accurate but you disagreed with it :)

Or fact presented as opinion.

I think Myp is a dick.

Ahhh yes I see, that sentence can be read two very different ways :)

It's quite an interesting scenario TBH (if you're a spod like I am), to have a fair and random online game that relies entirely on pre-scripted sequences to display the results. Some folks have been having some real trouble getting their heads around it.
I always thought that online slots randomly predetermined on a spin that you were going to win (say) £50, and so threw up the combination of reels (or bonus game) that would give rise to that outcome.

Are people saying that this makes them fixed? Because that sounds like a naive interpretation of how this shit works, unless I have it incorrect.
Slots in American casinos like in Vegas have always intrigued me - apparently they're regulated and cannot operate in the way that slots do over here, but surely at a basic level it all boils down to a computer picking a pseudo-random outcome and just showing a sequence of events to support that outcome.

So what is it about Vegas slots that is different?

There are lots of different models that random games work on, some more opaque than others.

The problem with Jammin' Jars is that some of the win animations, tumbles, cascades, multipliers, jam jar movements etc are incredibly long-winded and appear to be very complex. This is not helped by the fact that the rules state that the movement of the symbols within the grid is random.

So when it was discovered that entire sequences (that can go on for several minutes) were entirely pre-determined, some folks got cross. This also leads to the problem of creating false expectations on the player's part, as it looks like certain things should be possible if 'random luck' is on their side, but in reality they can never happen.

By way of comparison, the slot that I use for the comparison piece in the video above, has five RNG calls for every single spin of the reels, one call for each reel, which returns a random stop position for each of the reels. As such, every single possible combination that the player can see as being available, is a possibility.
I've joined my friend's MB blog where I'll be posting my daily profits, if anyone's interested in seeing where I'm making my money.

I'm surprised they don't invoke their 'bonus abuse' terms from the T&Cs with stuff like that TBH.

If you get paid though, happy days!

No one else on my matched betting groups seem to have had an issue withdrawing, so I'm pretty hopeful.

I got a text today saying they needed to speak to me over the phone about my account. Uh oh!

I called them up, bracing myself for bad news. The support agent congratulated me on my win and asked me to email docs to verify my identity!

And paid!

Made a lot of money out of these, one of the most 'doable' fruit machines ever. (But also one of the most complicated methods.)

Unfortunately it was pretty late in the day when I (a) Got hold of the method and (b) Had some of the machines round here and (c) Finally decided to take them on.

I remember in one pub the landlord appeared next to me and said he was turning the machine off because it was 'paying out too many jackpots'.

£400 of real cash swinging in the breeze here.....

Unlike myp with his system, this is just straight up gambling, albeit with a reasonable bonus in play.

My edited videos now feature a new HOT SEXY INTRO.

Today has been a good day and it's not even lunch time yet!

Finished on £196.42. Crazy, best day ever!
And I've cleared a grand for the third month running. And it's only the 17th!
...and 36p today. :DD
I lost £500 earlier this week, stupid gambling. All on the same slot at £1 spins over two evenings. Taking a break now. (I'm still up at the casino since I started playing there again in August, £1250 out and £1000 in, but even so.)

This week's video is fruit machine emulation nostalgia, and features a PC Zone article by everyone's favourite Campbell!

:attitude:

Had a bit of a dip in the last week, which shows this can be quite the rollercoaster. Done about £150 EV in the last six days and I've only made £44. Not the end of the world, but after making over £1k in the first 17 days of October maybe I was getting carried away with what I could achieve.

These aren't the easiest videos to make, but in a way it's cathartic to get them out.

I was going to watch that but it's over an hour long.

Sorry if you're struggling with gambling lately. Even though I only do EV+ offers I still have bad runs and am going through a tough patch at the moment, well below expected profit for the last ten days. I'm not tempted to gamble but it has significantly affected my mood and I haven't even lost anything!
Best month yet, even though the last two weeks or so were a bit slow going. Not sure I'll be able to keep up this kind of profit now I have a job again, but I've set £1k as my November goal all the same!

That’s a decent return still. What sort of hourly rate are you getting?
Dr Zoidberg wrote:

Difficult to say as I don't log it. But I'd say I do about 3-4 hours a day at least 5 days a week, sometimes another couple of hours if there's a lot of football on.

Let's say 4 hours a day, 6 days a week it's about £13.40 per hour. But that's tax free.
That's a fair old chunk of time, but I suspect a lot of it is done on the sofa while watching TV, no? Or is it full on concentration.

I'm tempted to give it a go, but my main problem is that I'm easily bored and really fucking lazy...

Nah, you have to afford it some concentration or you end up making mistakes. I've made a few but it's only cost me pennies.

When I'm doing it I treat it like a job, so no distractions. I won't normally do more than an hour at a time though. Casino is really boring, but I'm pretty quick at setting up sports bets for the evening now so it doesn't really take me all that long.

Probably the thing that takes me the longest is logging everything and reconciling my profits spreadsheet!

I meant to reply to this at the time but then forgot!

The stories I'm retelling in the 'Gambling Low Ebbs' series are from the early 90s, so some 25 years old! (I appreciate the sentiment though :) )
Tracey Crouch has resigned as Sports Minister over the 6 month delay in implementing the £2 restriction on FOBTs
That's a weird thing to resign over.
She feels pretty strongly about it

https://twitter.com/tracey_crouch/statu ... 7399789568

It's a big thing, and TBH I really respect her for it, the government have bowed to industry pressure, and in that extra period of time lives and families will be destroyed, and more people will commit suicide.

All this horseshit about them needing time to adapt their software, when it all already exists in multiple RTP/stake configurations, they could roll it out overnight. (All FOBTs are internet connected and constantly talk to central servers, it's not like people need to go round and change ROM chips and shit like that.)
I find this thread fascinating at times, even as someone who’s never once put money into a gambling machine.
Boom! Thank you Real Betis, I could kiss you!
These guys are already making all the money, couldn't they at least make an effort?

A great story of a 28 year old machine finally being brought back to life in the emulator.

Boom! Smashed £5k total profit! It's taken six months but I've made around £1k each month for the last four months. Even more amazing is that I've scaled down my matched betting a lot this month due to actually having a job now. Had a crazy night with the early payout offers tonight - 11 games, six paid out early and two were full turnarounds. I made £158 on one game alone.

Sadly I've been restricted by Ladbrokes, Coral and skybet this month, so I'm not sure what the future holds for my MB career having lost these profitable accounts, but I'm very happy to have made £5k out of next to nothing, even if I stop now (which I don't plan on doing).

Why have they restricted you? Because you are doing so well?
Pretty much. They’ve obviously analysed my betting patterns and seen that I only take close matches or use promotions and don’t do any mug betting. I basically take too much value from the bookies and I’m not the sort of customer they want. :)
TBH I'm surprised you're getting as much mileage out of it as you are (but more power to you, get as much as you can out of them!) - certainly there are loads of stories over at Casinomeister of people getting bonus-banned, restricted, or outright having their accounts closed for far less advantage play than you're doing.

Could you not just throw in a £10er on a risky bet every now and again? I assume they are more sophisticated than that
More fruit machine emulation this week.

The Simpsons layout featured in this video is the work of a certain JohnCoffey :)

All these machines rock some seriously awesome sound samples.

Given the amount they earn, they can certainly afford good predictive tools. I'd be surprised if they didn't.
