The only game I've come across this problem with is Letterpress (possibly because it's the only one I've sent out invites for) - you can't tell which of your friends actually has the game. Once I spotted that I've double checked in Game Center before I send any invites

Why don't you calm down! You are acting like a child.

I am sorry that you got woken up by the game, to be honest it woke me up too, But I actually like the game.

I have found 2 enjoyable games through being challenged, so long my it continue.

Have a look at Do Not Disturb mode. It lets you turn off all the beeping and vibrations through the night whilst still receiving phone calls from people on your contacts list, or even just calls where they ring more than once. It sounds like some time looking through these kinds of things will really help you, as I remember you posting about this kind of thing before when Tiny Tower came out and was notifying you of stores being restocked.

I know what Do Not Disturb Mode does. I had no cause to use it before last night. Stop trying to suggest that this is my fault.

To be woken up in the middle of the night by a beeping phone when a person you are close to is in hospital is somewhat distressing. Hence my being particularly angry. I left this out of my post originally. But once again, I can't believe that I've had to go into that much personal detail to get the point across to you that spamming someone's phone is NOT OKAY, regardless of the various ways and means available to prevent it. As I say, getting spammed in the middle of the night isn't usually a problem for me.

I assumed the people involved would say something along the lines of "shit, I'll stop doing that" rather than attempt to fucking defend it!

To be fair, anything which reminds me of Tiny Tower tends to get me annoyed.

I'm not trying to assign blame or fault. My merest suggestion is that you're overreacting. I do apologise for calling you an arse before as this cheapened the other points I was trying to make.

On a completely unrelated point to the current conversation, can someone please explain to me why the fuck Game Center knocks out my wireless connection every time I load it up?

I agree it's mental that GameCenter can send you messages for games you don't own.

Hope your gf's mum is getting better, WTB.

I must admit, the only reason I played this can game was due to the challenge I received. It's kept me quite entertained too.

I'm sorry if I've sent anyone a challenge and disturbed them. I don't think I have though (have I?), although I probably will once I'm top-best.

I quite like the physics for the cans. It's certainly not a terrible time waste.

Did anyone pick up Infinity Blade when it was free? The graphics are ace and it has its moments but I'm amazed that EPIC/CHAIR are doing this instead of a sequel to that Castlevania-esq game on XBLA that I always forget the name of.

Shadow Complex. And yeah, the fact that no one's spending time doing a sequel to that is an utter fucking tragedy.

Doesn't everyone just have their phone set to 'DO NOT FUCKING BOTHER ME ABOUT ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE ACTUALLY RINGING' mode? I've learned this in increments over the years.

The default settings for all this shit is very annoying, it was back when I had an iPhone and Android is no better, since it's down to the behaviour of the apps as much as the OS itself.

I can see both sides of the argument here, and WTB's response is understandable given the context of the situation he's in with his girlfriend's mother, but at the same time there's no blame to be laid at Mr Russell's door either.

If you've got your phone set to 'please feel free to hassle me about trivial shit' mode, then you can't expect some kind of unspoken and hitherto untested 'Well it's never been a problem before' rule to kick and leave you alone when you don't want to be hassled.

I learned the hard way with my One X, Facebook had set itself up with some kind of default settings that meant it set off some fucking noise at 3am in the morning when I got a personal message from someone on there, which came on the back of a couple of really bad nights with AE Jnr and I was in work early the next day, so I can understand WTB's annoyance, it's like 'The last thing in the fucking world I need is my phone giving me grief as well', but ultimately it was down to me to configure my phone not to do that shit.

What works for me is settings that means my phone never, ever, makes any noise whatsoever and doesn't even flash a fucking LED at me over anything - unless it's an incoming phone call or I've set an alarm.

Think of your phone as a computer, we all turn our computers off at night and wouldn't much appreciate them prodding us awake with some shit about games, treat your phone the same way :)

I do understand where you're coming from WTB and I do sympathise with your situation, but ultimately you do have the ability to stop your phone hassling you at inconvenient times.

All the best to your gf's mother :)

I've been nagged to shit by this app as well over the weekend, so I'll say this: If you want to challenge me to a game of something then email me, tweet me, DM me on here.... But don't go via some in-app bollocks or you'll have one friend fewer. It's invasive, impersonal and lazy. And it's spammy as fuck, even if some people want to neckbeard their way into an argument about the finer points of that.

I have notifications on in game centre for friend requests, If I want to know what you're playing I'll look at your list.

Heh. After being woken after midnight by messages from this as I too have a relative in hospital, it's off to 'No messages from Gamecenter' land!

If you look in the 'notifications' area of your settings and look at the Game centre notifications you can choose to select to receive badge or banner notifications but turn the sound off. This might help anyone who still wants to receive notifications of friend requests, etc, but not be woken up by any sounds.

Dungelot. It's been described as a "casual roguelike" - I have no idea what that means but it's already hoovered up a few hours here (just checked - it's not free anymore, but only 69p).

I imagine it means a roguelike (randomly generated dungeon crawler) without the threat of death removing all progress.

At a guess. I dont know for sure.

An app that gives out a 'free' app every day - i've had it for around 2 weeks and have yet to see something worthwhile out of it

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/appgrat ... 56236?mt=8

For example todays 'free' app is "Big fish casino"

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/big-fis ... 12549?mt=8

Which looks to be a freemium game already

Didn't get that here at all. I do have to edit what I said about the ads, though - after playing it for several days there are suddenly in-game ads at the bottom of the screen, which can be slightly distracting. Odd.

Throughsilver, do I already have you on ios/gamecenter? If not, you're more than welcome - the more the merrier, as ever (I'm mrc863).

I managed to burn out at 96% infected, 260million dead. I didn't invest in transmission properly, going for research resistance and high mortality instead.

Yeah, that and Pandemic, which is v similar, are ace fun.

So upsetting when a country steadfastly refuses to die!

Though my fave game ever ended with all of Iceland alive and everyone else in the world dead... apart from ONE person in Mexico! Toughest person ever!
