Young Sheldon continues to be decent. It even has this weird foreshadowing of Sheldon’s Dad dying which, if they do it right, could be something really interesting.

But that’s not the weirdest thing. Sheldon’s Dad is Leonard’s school bully from s05e11*, so many he ain’t dead. But that doesn’t explain why sheldon doesn’t recognise him, or why sheldon’s Dad is the same age as Sheldon.

* I didn’t look this up by the way this episode is currently on E4.
Punisher TV series in coming!
Did anyone watch Castlevania on Netflix? I saw Bamba mentioned it in B&B a while ago.

Anyway, it's fucking excellent. Written by Warren Ellis, looks beautiful (amidst the disembowellings and talk of goat fucking). Definitely not one for the kids. And nor is it something limited to Castlevania fans. I know (virtually) nothing of the videogame lore and am enjoying it immensely. Am sure there are plenty of hat tips to the game in there.
Future Man is worth a look. It borrows heavily from The Last Starfighter and is very much aware of this. Funny stuff, I thought.
The newest episode of Riverdale is amazing. As is Cheryl.
The Punisher is out on Netflix. First episode was good.
Started watching '13 Reasons Why' yesterday. It's about a high school student who kills herself and leaves a set of tapes for those who drove her to it. With there being thirteen people and thirteen episodes, I was perhaps expecting something a little more focused perhaps; at times it feels like some teen soap opera trying to teach kids morals about how their actions affect others without them realising just how much. Still, I've watched five episodes now, so I'll see how the other eight go. I saw there's a second series being filmed though, so not sure how that'll work.
I enjoyed 13 Reasons Why. I'm going to spoiler this bit even though it's not a massive spoiler, you should still avoid it:

It starts off oddly light-hearted, and then spirals into "Oh my fucking God, where did she go to school, Hell?!"
I ended up reading the spoiler as for some reason, Chrome displays the warning about it being a spoiler, but then shows the text anyway (works on mobile though). To be honest, your comment is kinda how I expect the series to go anyway.
I noticed that too. Fixing!
Fixed!

And, er, sorry!
13 Reasons Why is an amazing show, and yes I think it works best as a self contained show, so series 2 will be interesting to see what they do to keep it going.

I kept finding myself hoping that listening to the tapes was

somehow clues to save her, and that she wasn't really dead, but alas, no such luck.

Working here too now.

And no problem - to be honest, I'd have probably read the spoiler anyway in case it said something like 'god, those last few episodes were crap'. :)

Oh, and this might just be my tastes, but when casting someone whose meant to be an outsider and considered not as pretty as the rest, it doesn't really work if you cast someone prettier than all of them.

CTRL + F5, I suspect.

PEBCAK error.

I even fully restarted my browser before trying that, ta!
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has been amazing this season. I mean it basically turns out the entire show has been a long con and we haven't been watching what we think we were watching.

(If you're curious, summary below, but don't click unless you're never going to watch it.)

Over the last two episodes, Rebecca has humiliated herself publicly over Josh, attempted suicide by taking an overdose, and has now started therapy. Her new doctor says her previous diagnoses of anxiety and depression were wrong and she actually has borderline personality disorder, accompanied by a reading out of the symptoms of BPD interspersed with flashbacks to Rebecca doing all of these things. In a key moment, Rebecca says "it was never about Josh... Josh is irrelevant." So the whole show has changed, in restrospect: it was never any sort of romcom, it was always about this character who through her own self-destructive behaviour was going to hit rock bottom and maybe come out the other side a stronger person. Or maybe not -- it's not sugar coating the seriousness of Rebecca's mental state.
Apparently this has always been the plan for the show. It's been very well handled.

I'm three in and enjoying it. It's nice it's not a simple shootfest, which it could easily have been after his appearance in daredevil.

I'll have to pretend I didn't read the first paragraph

Sorry, I didn't mean that to sound spoilerish. It's not -- it's not that the whole show is a dream or anything heavy handed like that. It's more like a subtle subversion of your expectations rather than anything that changes anything you've seen.
Is it finished now?

I can live with that.
Bobby Ewing got out of the shower and it changed TV forever.

No, it's halfway through season 3. It hasn't been either renewed or cancelled for S4. Viewing figures are very low, but they have been all along and critics love it, so maybe they'll get another season or maybe they plan to end it. Rachel Bloom has always said it was a show with a finite lifespan and a single story arc to tell.
Speaking of excellent shows, Dirk Gently S2 is also excellent. The initial oh-my-god-what-the-fuck-is-going-on is just starting to resolve itself, although there's four more to go and I've a suspicion some of my theories are based on red herrings.

I totally forgot about this!

I watched eps 1 and 2 of S2. It's impressively bonkers - but I don't much like the characters.
Punisher has been excellent so far. Up to ep4 now.

Is this available via Netflix/similar or did you watch it when you were in America?
Yeah, we're up to ep9, it's great. I love the batshit crazy brutality played for laughs.

It's on Netflix, I think?

Only the first season, at the mo.
Weevil been watching Designated Survivor. The first series is brilliant. The second series is nowhere near as good as they introduce a load of inplausibky irritating characters with bad accents to deal with ridiculous situations. Also, the female FBI agent is just plain bad at her job. She should be dead 70 times over by now.
We've reached the bit in Parks and Rec where Rob Lowe and Adam Scott join the cast and boy, this is great stuff. Just delightful, with a strong cast all bringing their A-games.

It's probably my favourite comedy of all time. Everyone is amazing and I love it.

He reminds me of Kern.
Huh. Oddly (considering Kern and Grim... do not look much alike) I can kind of see what you mean.

I need to watch it again. I watched the first episode and it was like a bad version of The Office. Everyone says it gets better in series two, but meh.

Season 1 is very meh compared with what comes after.

We watched the first two or three episodes of season one and it was awful. Just dragged its bum, and we dropped it. A year or two later we for some reason decided to try it again and, really, it’s just amazing. It’s so wonderful. Stick with it, push through the first but if awkwardness and it becomes an absolute joy in the same kind of way that Brooklyn 99 is a joy.

I really enjoyed Parks and Recreation, but I can't stand Brooklyn 99. When I used to have E4, I'd put it on when there was nothing else to watch, but I rarely made it to the end of an episode.
HOT DAMN that's a hot take.

I haven't seen this so checked it up on IMDB. Yes, I can see what you two are getting at (this v this)

Hope I can rock a hat like that in my 40s.
It's that strong manly jaw Kern. A job well done.

partly to get up to Clay's tape to find out what he'd actually done, and by then I wanted to get to the end of the season, so I watched the rest too. That last episode was very well done and was a tough watch for me, mainly due to the actress playing Hannah's mother.

Not really sure what to expect from a second season - I think another couple of episodes would have been enough to wrap everything up, but I'll still be watching it anyway.
I watched one episode of Parks and Rec and thought it was beyond terrible. How long does it take to get better?
