This was shot on holiday with a real basic camera we got from Aldi's about 2 years back.

Hmm - I think I prefer the first one. Given that it's a pile of butchered vegetable matter, I think the warmer tones in the second one don't quite fit.

Second one I let nikon decide what the white balance should be, it somehow went from dry day to wet day - I suspect in between the two would be more accurate.

Nice, you know you've probably got just about enough magnification there to see some of the planets as more than just points of light.

Had a great day down at the Fleetwood Marsh Nature Park on Saturday. The place was teeming with stuff. Nice to see Fleetwood has a very healthy Burnet Moth community, even the wind couldn't shift them from their favourite flowers.

Very relaxed too, let me get very close.

Lots of these Common Bluetail Damselflies about too (and dull looking females)

Caught a Silver Y moth* that gave itself away by fluttering about as I was shooting other stuff.

Was nice having my new bag with me so I could switch between macro and zoom as the Herring Gulls were having a nice day out too.

Also: Savage Duck

*Looks more like bird shit than a silver 'Y'.

eeeeep. Decided to do a little capture summer in nature project thing. Have patched the D300 to get the much much nicer D2x colours as defaults and I've got a "holy shit, this is like the ones other people take" photo. I'll be in lightroom being obsessive for a bit if you need me.

LOVE the second moth photo, Zardoz. Especially the antennae, for all the world like the stroke of a caligraphy brush.

Decca, definitely like the last flower pic over the earlier one, which is a bit too busy. Also the wood texture shot might benefit from high contrast B&W. I love your edited moon shot, it's a cracker! All that inky void and gleaming light and crags and basins! :luv:

I hate to annoy you but that moon shot is pretty much right out of camera (high pass sharpened and cropped is all I did), it was spot metered on the moon hense the black sky.

Another great portrait, Pete. They look like a right pair.

Prefer the B&W interior shot out of the two, lovely tones.

It's great down by the rivers edge, Mark. Don't have to travel too far to find yourself in a completely new setting. Really like the shot with the White pipe and the high contrast of the graphitti wall.

You don't want to know.... there is a story to be told and a massive flicker update to be had when the girl leaves....
Today and I swear to god this is true, we had a school assembly. They got four children to stand up with laminated printed picture signs.
Child #1: and now for health and saftey, mobile phones must be turned off. (two doctors in the audience laugh) *picture of a mobile
Child #2: Crying children may be taken into the year l classroom *picture of a crying child
Child #3: Emergency exits are here, here and here *holds up exit sign

I've been getting some love for this, I've photographed the place about 20 times (rare that the light is good enough not to bin the picture) as it's on our regular walk so I'm kind of bored of seeing it.
