I would argue it was more the fact that I bought the first two at least 2 years after everyone else did, so everyone had already finished their 1337 run-throughs. Well, almost everybody...

I've got the stupidly expensive edition ordered to gather dust in my Command Centre.

I doubt it'll be here on the day of release but I am looking forward to it.

What is the day of release, and will they have it in The ASDA's? Given it's the only game I've bought or am likely to buy this year, I don't really mind paying the silly release price for it.

Tuesday 20th is the release date, and I would expect the Asdas to perhaps have more than one copy. Part of me wishes I'd held fire on buying the new slim xbox earlier this year so I had an excuse for the Gears 3 edition console :(

Bloody hell, I better get Resistence 3 finished so I can play this. The adverts for this have been feckin' useless that I've seen: the TV ad is a rehash of last years but above ground and the magazine adverts seem so low key that they're hardly noticable. Must be the largely black background but anyway, it doesn't seem to be getting the Halo 3-finish the fight treatment.

Plus, I must be the only person who loved Gears 1 for all its awesome single player campaign but thought Gears 2 campaign was such tedious shit that I was sick to my back teeth looking at another fucking cavern. And the vehicle section at the end...oh, the tedium. Probably COD's multiplayer took the shine off hoard mode and the multiplayer bits simply because the matchmaking was sooo bleeding slow; it took forever to get a match (unless you had people already lined up to play of course - they just jump in and off you go). COD's quick accessible lobby pissed all over it for me even though I desperately wanted to play it more.

I've never played this. Is it just collecting useless crap for 20 years until your wife tells you to throw it all out or she will leave you?

And yes, I think Gears 1 campaggen was better, but the co-op aspect and having the AI able to revive you and suchlike was an improvement for the 2nd game.

I thought the vehicle section ear the beginning where you are sign the turret to shoot things out of the sky was hideous. I tried to do the game on hardcore (or whatever it is ) but that section proved impossible to do (at least solo). I can only imagine what the tank section nearer the end would have been like. Somebody should tell programmers that "hard" doesn't mean "unenjoyable".

EDIT - yes..."oooh errrr" etc.

Because you couldn't co-op the first one? 8)

That bit was a serious ballache on Insane, but I managed to get past it after 50 or so attempts. Seriously. Still yet to complete the whole game on Insane, though. Should go back.

I played the first level of this yesterday in Blockbuster when I preordered it.

They had their copies arrive on thursday so they have a 360 running it as a freebie treat for anyone that preorders any game ove the next couple of days. Its only £34.99 if preordered too.

Not bad for once as Blockbuster have been really shite with prices/trade-ins of late

It was good, but as stated earlier, just feels so slow and sluggish compared to the COD series and other shooters.

Hopefully it'll be better than 2 which was just gears 1 redux in my eyes. Just more of the same and by the end I was bored.

The only new thing i see so far is "beast" mode, which is basically an alien version of the horde mode. You are an alien (can't remember the proper name) killing off as many humans/cogs as you can... as opposed to a human killing off aliens... yawwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn!

I hope there's more to it and they aren't just whoring the name....

Just found out too that the release of Resident Evil 4 HD is on tuesday as well!! Gutted!!!

Capcom have given it 1000 gamerpoints which means as opposed to costing 1200 ms points its going to be a £20 direct download "games on demand" title instead, which is also disappointing as I had been saving 3000 ms points in anticipation.

Code Veronica HD gets released the following Tuesday, the 27th

I don't understand. Does this mean your card is charged a straight £20 rather than buying £20 "worth" of MS points to buy it with?

Yes, your card is charged with it. You can't use MS points to buy the games on demand.

Gears of War 2 was the best shooter bar none for me. Loved the campaign and Bezzie horde mode, had hours and hours of entertainment from it. Recon I'll be picking this up once I'm back from my hols as I won't be able to resist if everyone else has it.

Any news re: pricing on this?

I'd very much like to get it, but given the amount of free time I have to play it, I'm not paying RRP and will wait if necessary.

cheapest i've seen so far is blockbuster @ £34.99 but that was for pre-orders.

The red top papers will probably have everyones prices in todays adverts as a lot of companies are doing midnight openings for it.

Yeah, £35 seems to be the best deal at the moment, unless the supermarkets do something ridiculous.

Isn't it funny how people get carried away about BF3 and MW3 when no-one has even played them yet! I've seen the trailers and yes they look good, and no doubt will be, but I don't get excited about games months in advance.

At least I've played Gears 3 so can rightly get excited about getting in deep. Tomorrow. Not in November!

Can't say I'm massively 'excited' about it, so to speak, but MW2 was possibly my favourite game ever, so I'll buy the sequel and spend hours online playing it with fellow Beexers and my bro, having a rather fun time.

Which is nice, as I've hardly played anything recently...

You can get Gears3 for £25 quid if you buy 2100 ms points from Morrisons. Comes to £43 total.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is probably my favourite online shooter of this generation, so why would I not get excited about the next similar game by the same developer? DICE have a proven track record with producing excellent game after excellent game, so I'm confident in their ability that BF3 will be something I want to play.

My local tesco had 2 large stands this morning - easily 100 copies of the game there to be picked up (no idea about reservations)

Well Blockbuster are C**ts!

The games I asked about trading in for GOW3 the other day have been reduced by £10 this very morning.

Bastards. I'll never deal with them again after this.

Yeah their prices for newish games drop pretty quickly. I knew I wanted to trade in Resistance 3 for F1 2011 which isn't out until Friday so I just traded the game in then and got the money put on my account. They aren't brilliant though I only use them because they're local and I'm lazy.

If your location is correct - come to the large one about 8 miles down the A34 (which is where I took the picture in the bargains thread this morning)

(** edit ** - I of course mean your location note on another forum since i wouldnt know that that one was Oxford )
