I did find my divine axe made killing them easier as every bit causes them to fall apart. Took quite a few bits to finish them though. Damage dealt doesn't appear that high

Catacombs is best done as a speed run first pass to kill the necromancers.
These dudes keep the skeletons respawning, but once disposed of themselves do not respawn.
Beware they cast fireballs and there are at least 4 of them, but each just covers and area.
So, best bet it to spends up all your souls and such, then just plough in there.

The drake sword does enough to kill the skeletons rapidly allowing you to deck the necromancers.

I can smash them up in 2 hits with may maxed Raw Halberd. I'll be having a mooch tonight if I get chance.

You wait till you stick some lightning or fire on the end of it. It's the only weapon I use. One prod from the halberd raw or otherwise will knock the skele's down with each strike so it's the perfect weapon for that bit.

Don't miss the secret grave warp thingy I was on about above for a hidden pyro spell!

Great now I'm tempted to go pillage the catacombs rather than continue through blighttown.

I don't much like blighttown. It's dark and confusingly laid out an enemies appear from seemingly nowhere.

Blighttown is awful at first, but then it quickly becomes harsh before easing into annoying.

There are some good bits to be found down there though, stick with it.

I killed a bunch of dicks that pushed me into a pit, and rescued the fair lady. Im hoping she will turn up at the Firelink shrine now.

I dont much like murdering NPCs though as I end up on sin lists :(

There is a lot of good stuff to be had, and once you have got all that, theres no need to do the grindy paths from the Depths again, as you can get in the back end via Firelink > Valley of Drakes > Bottom of the BLighttown.

I really like Blightown though, the design is cool and the atmosphere is stunningly crafted.
Such an excellent, excellent game. Once I'm done I'm sooo buying Demons Souls for PS3

I meant just before you finish the final boss! You can gather all the good stuff before you trigger the end sequence. When you start a new game+ you'll be fully absolved.

And y'know, I never did see that woman again after I rescued her. Well until the second play through when I struck down her, her lackies and that fat guy with the bowl cut. Got me some neat trinkets from their corpses too.

Best thing was that if you kill them all Patches doesn't turn up in the Tomb of the Giants anymore but can be found in the catacombs. He's near a bridge that's controlled by a switch. He swears blind he didn't touch it but I walked across the bridge and the cunt tipped the bridge over killing me. I soon saw to that afterwards though.

Yes, I've asked the Krampus for it. Would be nice to have a silly lighthearted distraction over the festive season after playing this mans game.

No. See the first post.

I don't understand the patch stuff but it sounds awesome. Probably. The stats are nonsense of course for the mentals but the merchants selling more stuff is a nice improvement. I didn't see anything about sorting out the frame rates though, unless there's a longer list somewhere.

I think they've cocked up the lock on system in the patch.

Twice I've been killed in blighttown by the camera suddenly turning 180degrees and falling off the edge.

Iron Gollum smashed on first attempt last night. So then I got taken to Anor Londo, wow.

The place looks so impressive from the high vantage point, and it's so clean looking! Did really well until I met the two bastard archers blocking my progress, what the hell are they firing? Think I'll double back through Sen's gaff again and check out the Catacombes and kill the Wolf Cif before attempting to get further.

Do you have the Remedy spell (it's in that area with the Crimson outfit and Tin banishment stick of awesome) and plenty of purple moss?

I have shuttering loads of moss from time spent in darkroot gardens.. I also have the crimson outfit, bit don't remember getting any spell. I may well have done, but given my liqueur intelligence, I don't use any spells beyond pyromancy

I smack and shoot things good, and dodge things better, Raising intelligence isn't exactly a priority.

Given the only real sticking point this far is the bull on the bridge, I'm not unhappy with that.

The only attribute I haven't levelled up is Faith. Still on the starting score of 9 and I've got plenty of other spells anyway.

I've sank the majority into:
Intelligence - Pyro / Spells FTW
Dexterity - Bows / Halberd
Strength - Smacky smack smack

Strength, dexterity, endurance and vitality.

Given intelligence has no effect on pyromancy, I've left it alone.

Ive made more progress.

Done the Bed of Chaos, joined the Darkmoon Covenant, did the other covenant in the Catacombs.
Only disappointed that I messed up a couple character quests, but I can do those next time with gift of hindsight.
Ive levelled my lightning spear to +5 and its powerful, as is my +5 Furysword. Went and slapped that stupid borther of Asylum Demon with it :)

Spent lots of cash and now on level 57 or something, mostly in Strength and Durability or whatever the stat is for the green energy bar. The new patch does seem to have some aiming issues, disappoint. Maybe it gets fixed. Plus I dont like how they "fixed" some of the engrish transration - I preferred the old school-ness of the "you defeated" and "you recovered" etc than what is in place now.

Anyway, its still awesome.
I am now trying to get on with the Lower Londo Ruins.

Did you beat the boss up after joining the Darkmoon Covenant? It's a weird one that cause it's entirely optional but s/he is mentioned in the opener as one of the dark lords.

Havel the Cock: dead. Ring got. Did him in while in the nude.

Black Knight in Undead Parish:Dead. Halberd to face.

Moonlight Butterfly: Dead. Done him wearing a dress and using the shitty cracked shield. Divine embers got.

Levelled up enough to use my Iaito, thinking of using that as my divine weapon. It's strong attack is an iaido unsheath-strike thingy, I can't remember the proper name for.

Not having problems with the lock-on myself.

Killed the Gold Gollum thing that spawns on the lake when you revisit after beating the Hydra.

Got killed again trying to kill the Wold Cif, it's such a long schlep to get back to from the bonfire that I always end up wandering off somewhere else instead.

I noticed it was much harder to hit the flies in Blighttown last night. Bought Demon Spear off the guy who is there from the Cat cult thingy, it's very smashy and zappy but so slow with the heavy attack.
Went back there to take a look at the Great Hollow that I'd missed before, for myself in and ended up getting cursed rather stupidly by thinking the Boggly-eyed frogs would be weak like they were in The Depths.

I got cursed down there. That was the worst time trying to get out Blightown and the sewers with fack all energy.

I've been getting caned by the Anor londo bosses. This lightning halberd has lost its power against them since they have lightning attacks themselves. Gah. So I've managed to max out the new game+ Halberd into a maximum flaming nightmare of a weapon. It's awesomz!

I'm looking forward shoving it right up that fat hammer guys arsehole.

Worked a treat.

It's might not be recommended for your first play through but killing the person who gives you the lord vessel has a dramatic effect on all of Anor londo!

Killed the Wolf Cif last night after 4 failed attempts. In the end I just kept running beneath him to fire Great Soul Arrows into his belly and swigging Estus when I had the time.

Very satisfying killing that bastard. I think the problem was how I've developed my character as a spell caster and not a tank. But once I'd found the safe spot (sometimes I'd be killed before I'd got beneath him) it was pretty easy.

Not sure if I should do the Catacombs or Anor Londo next... I did get much further into the Ghosty ruins while I was cursed, but the half health thing still scuppered me in the end... mind you I've stocked up on Transient Curses by killing the ghosts so I might pop back now I'm uncursed as I was close to picking up some more stuff from the bodies there.

Anor Londo foolio. When you do the boss you can get the thang that lets you warp around. Plus, mo areas open up. All the yellow.fog gates open plus the merchant that can stick lightning on your weapons.

Mind you, catacombs has the guy that gives you fire...

Anywhere but ghost town! Don't be fooled, it's hard as nails and should be kept till last.

Just been to the catacombs. Killed the boss (easiest yet, first time, unaided), but then back tracked back to firelink after seeing the place that follows afterwards! Sens Fortress it is then!

I love this game so much I'm pondering trying to blag a PS3 for xmas in order to play the first game...

Incredible game of this today. Was pushing through Sens Fortress and killed a bunch of those roaming headless stone demons guys and then a bloody giant and decided to high tail it out of there to cash the 25k souls in. (mental note: use homeward bones more often).

Got distracted as decided to buy the Smiths seal thing that opens the gate in the forest and then ended up joining the cat covenant and invaded a few people. Went swimmingly but felt a bit bad - I got indicted and I suspect I'm going to get my comeuppance down the line for it...

Then went up again sif, who was an incredibly entertaining boss and netted me 40k more souls! My Fire Zwei-hander is paying off it would seem. Then I hung around and helped 3 people kill the boss (failed for a 4th guy) netting me another 60k souls and 3 humanity! The patch seems to have done wonders.

It's certainly increassed the soul yield.

I'm still getting pissed off with the new aiming though, due to unfair deaths. It should only change targets when I ask, and it should only attempt to target things in the center of my screen. Neither of these is true anymore, and it's got me killed more than a handful of times through no fault of my own.

I had an excellent time in Anor Londo last night after I blasted past those two arsehole archers and saved, unhollowed and kindled at the second bonfire. Summoned a phantom who helped me all the way through to Laurel and Hardy's door (taking out a dark phantom invader along the way). He was in bad shape though and died just before the boss fight but luckily I had the opportunity to summon two more at the steps so between the three of us we nailed fatty and thinny.

Loads of stuff opened now plus I can warp. :metul:

That weird. I love the new aiming. Flicking the stick left and right to quickly select new targets took a little getting used to but gives me far more crowd control - which is essential with my slow-as-fuck-weapons of choice.
