I agree with Malias comments above about the Joffrey scene where he has the crossbow, it was brilliant.

I really like the Imp, he is my fav char in it.

Shame how he ends up, Martin really knows how to fuck up his characters.

50 odd pages into the first book and its scene for scene identical to the first episode (apart from a few details like Joff having curly hair). Me likey. I can't read the dialogue without hearing the actors voices either. I almost don't want to read it very quick or at all in case I catch up with the series.

The scene with Pod, Bron and Tyrion was fantastic this episode.

I have just bought Season 1 on DVD. Am watching now. Not read the books or anything, am thus far spoiler free.

It's rather excellent, isn't it? I am already visualising excited Chinese bookies and gambles waving wads of cash around a big board making bets on when Sean Bean is going to cark it. Which given his track record in stuff can't be long, surely.

You said the same about The Walking Dead, man. I like these beautiful slow burners with wonderful characterisation. Mind you a programme about high fantasty should probably have some awesome happenings. Fortunately, the corpses, boobies and dragons are enough for me not to worry that it'll ever turn into Pride and Prejudice.

Did I? I only ever watched the first episode of The Walking Dead, I should probably remedy that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying it, but I get to the end of the episode and wonder what actually happened. It's a TV show based on walking and talking at the moment.

Personally I think the first episode at least needed to just be what it was, checking in with everyone and seeing where they were at the moment. Even as it was I was left trying to remember what had happened to them in season two.
I've still loved every episode this series though, and I think the characterisation has been excellent with some standout scenes, like Joffrey with the crossbow, the interaction between the king slayer and what's her face, events over the wall...
Joffreys fiancée is brilliant, the actress playing her is doing a great job. Then in the last episode I think we saw a bit more to joffreys mum, she's still a total dick but we got to see what's shaped her with the lack of respect from her father, and the sexist society. Oh I also love the aunt, the Tyrell woman.
You may have noticed I really don't know anyone's names...I blame Danerys. She turns my brain to mush.
That was awesome by the way. That scene. Wow.

Joffrey's fiancée is ace. She plays her very well.

And she's also lovely.

A chunk of her character was also explained in the first season during the single open and honest conversation she had with her husband (Robert Baratheon). The gist being that she was married off to him as a young and relatively innocent girl at a time when Robert was still utterly devastated by the death of his previous wife. He was only marrying Cersei for political convenience so was emotionally cold to her which made the young Cersei incredibly bitter (and whispering the name of his dead wife during their first night together was probably not a good move either). Obviously the more recent scene you mentioned fills in further blanks, but certainly Robert played a massive part in making her the dick she is now.

And the fact that she fancied the fuck (and fucked the fancy) out of her brother.

Episodes 5 & 6 have been great. More please. Every single scene has got me on edge! 'cept the ones that don't. But they're few and fair between.

S3 really is turning out rather good, isn't it? Caught up now.

Sucks to be Greyjoy. Things were looking up, albeit in a totally soft porn way.
jamie continues his rehabilitation. that, or he's taken one too many bumps on the ehad form falling from horses.

Also: Joffrey was fucking brilliant this episode. And Tywin. Really, really good stuff, tremendously done.

Cersei and margaery were brilliant this episode. And, let's face it, who hasn't wanted to turn up to a business meeting with the heads of your former colleagues in a sack?

Besides these lovely things, it was definitely the high point of the series so far. The wedding banquet scene was also amazing and joffrey was even more of a hateful little shit. The actor is doing a great job of being the biggest punch magnet ever.
