Well I hope those that might need it have got some then. Chemist will probably have some anyway. I’ll check the pharmacist tomorrow see if I can get some ibos.
Spent the day working in the living room having completely forgotten there is a spare room upstairs that I could just chuck a desk into.

But, then I couldn't watch the F1 Drive to survive thing all day which is legit lit.
Gotta start rationing new stuff to watch or you're going to burn through it all.

I'm going to have to load plex up with stuffs
I liked working form home, when it was not compulsory. Now it is, I don't like it :)

There was no paracetamol on the shelves in my local Sainsbury’s, so I went to the Lloyds pharmacy section and asked and they had some behind the counter.

I got generic Viagra online from Lloyds pharmacy and it turns out it is used to treat cardiac arrhythmias in West Highland terriers so maybe a vet 'scrip would have been cheaper.
Every pregnant member of staff has been sent home now as well as some with underlying medical conditions.

There is a rumour that has been going around a few members of staff that knows someone who works as an aide to the PM that there is to be a big announcement tomorrow.
Prince Philip is the rumour, but then that is always the rumour...
It was weirdly quiet on the school run this morning. Kind of scary too in how quickly things have gone sour.
Yeah, shit's getting real.
Zardoz wrote:

Or, as someone on twitter put it, "real's getting shit".
The way I see it is that it's quiet and weird because people are doing as they should. Empty shops is symptom that will resolve itself with time.

I can only hope that this has some positive effects along the lines of companies realising that remote working and communication can be used more. Unnecessary travel can be reduced. Companies that irresponsibly ride the edge financially speaking are going to get a rude awakening.

AND there'll be some solid, concrete, irrefutable evidence that human activity causes climate change!
And that masturbating is good for you.

I knew that already ;)
I should have bought biscuits... I'd love a biscuit right about now but I have none in the house.

I have biscuits, had to beat 3 pensioners to death, to get the last pack of choc hobnobs in the shop.
I have an excess of junk food, what I don't have are ingredients to make real food.
Had to buy a load of ready meals last night, as that was all that was left.

I'm symptom free now, after my 7 days of staying in. I'm hoping that I did actually have Corona, but it was very mild so i'm not conviced. Be interesting to see if we get test kits at any point.
Most people in good health may only experience mild symptoms.

There already is. Satellite photos show a hell of a reduction of pollution already.
Coronavirus: Air pollution and CO2 fall rapidly as virus spreads
No doubt Trump will say they're fake photos.
The closing of schools in the majority of the schools in the British Isles is having an effect here. The schools haven't closed but we have 4 years of kids' (years 10 - 13) whose exams have been cancelled/postponed so only about 50% of them have gone in today.

The rest of Europe are 2 weeks ahead of us (British Isles), you'd have thought the Education Secretary would have had discussions with the exam boards prior to now about how this is going to handled? It's not like shutting and postponing exams was that huge an out-of-the-blue shock, considering England is like the last place to do it, of all the affected countries? Announcements on the exam board websites today read like they had no idea it was going to happen, and they're hoping to have emergency meetings so they give some answers to people.

I know in the grand scheme of things, it is a very minor issue but it is another layer of stress and anxiety now, and it'll have a much longer lasting effect on people than I think anyone anticipated.
I was thinking similar about our schools closing, for at least a week ppl were saying why haven't schools been closed yet? There was an announcement with some measures and schools were staying open, but every parent was wondering when not if the schools would be closed
then on Sunday at 1700 there was going to be an announcement, so the board of our group of schools (about 25 schools for ages 4-12) were meeting AFTER that press conference to come up with a good plan
say what?
why haven't you been making a plan all week? why is it not a press of the button sort of thing when the word comes?
so at 1700 government said all schools closed for 3 weeks and then at 21.30 we got an email from school
wauw, very impressive
At my wifes school, the head has self isolated since the end of last week.

He eventually skyped the children this morning and explained the closure... and that's about it!

In my mind, I imagine it was like wheeling out a Futurama head in a jar to talk to the kids.
lol Katie would have loved that
they used mon and tues to make a schedule and organize a load of online stuff so its very good now
she was done with all her work for the day fairly early though, until we asked to see it, then she remembered she left most of maths because she ddnt understand it
then she did the maths and I looked over it and it was all wrong and I explained it and made her do it all again
Im not sure Im her favourite teacher
We only found out the boys’ school had shut when the boys came home and told us .... it turned out they weren’t bluffing
As a cost saving measure we've all been told we have to take 10 days unpaid leave during the next 3 months.

Thank fuck I've got a shit load of Miniatures.

Good plan. The time will fly by if you're rat-arsed.

Uh fuck your employer. Business can get loans to cover costs, all they're doing is passing the costs onto you. Fuck them in both eyeholes.

Maybe not, there are others with better knowledge here but my landlord reckons his business isn't covered for previously unknown diseases since sars was a thing.

I believe they may have to change their stance on this and count is as a known disease.
Hmm good points. I'll look into insurance.

The amount I'll be saving on fuel might even cover the hit.

Also, I'd much rather do this than be told I have no job kthnxbibi, working in the travel industry in the moment is killing off a lot of smaller business.

That's my point though, those aren't the choices and you shouldn't be made to feel like they are. That's partly on your employer and partly on the weak government response.
Ok, I'll resign.
There’s no one there.
The March issue of one of the magazines I proofread and have done most of the work for has been delayed until at least May. I was sort of relying on that money considering I’m already going to have to cope with 10 weeks SSP. :(

Rang my bank today to see if they’d give me a 3mo repayment holiday on my loan and they’ve put me on a callback list – someone will call me back within 3 days.
I am WFH on a laptop I have had to supply myself (which needs to be plugged in all the time as battery is shot), and having use my own mobile to take calls. Remote access is poor and kicks you out every so often.

Which explains why stuff isn't getting done. All for a £400 laptop.

It's very rubbish.
Did work offer anything that you could use?

As a representative of the insurance industry, I wish you luck with that. There’s not a legal leg to stand on, and the overall global cost of the insurance industry ‘taking one for the team’ would bankrupt most companies that offered business interruption insurance.

Pandemic insurance has been available for businesses to buy, to cover this specific instance, just nobody ever bought it. Until now, funnily enough.

Stable doors and all that.

The remote access issues could be nothing to do with the hardware though, everyone I know who's working from home is suffering at least a bit from that kind of thing and that's on a massive range of home setups and organisations.

This might be tempting fate, but ours is working very well thanks.
Ours too, which is handy because it's my responsibility.
