Tabletop wargaming - nerdlinging to the max...
and other sundry models

Do you play tabletop wargames?
No, of course not. Tabletop wargamers are so nerdy they make PC fanboys look cool and studly.  34%  [ 25 ]
Yes. I love my little painted figures. I give them all names and stroke them every night. I live for weapons damage charts.  5%  [ 4 ]
I used to, but discovered girls.  52%  [ 38 ]

God damn. They're brilliant. Top photography, too, actually.

The tongue's colouring is a fantastic contrast with the sword.
Ta!

Photo the shelf!

AWESOME!
Fuck's sake. Their new shop in Brum was excellent. And huge.
I always thought that it must be a tricky business to operate from the high street, so hard to stock a big enough range for people to find what they want. Most successful model shops these days mostly seem to be mostly out of town warehouses that do most business on the internet.
Shoite, Modelzone were good. All we have near us is Antics, overpriced and understocked.

There must at least be some sort of massive internet sale to sell off MZ's stock.

That's so stereotypically insulting. I mean, I'm constantly wanking. Phh. What do they know.
Just received the latest newsletter from Wayland Games and they've listed this velly intermerlestiung thing:

HMMM! HMMMMMMMMMMM!
And just to say going to the latest blog bit http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/wnt/b ... id=9700060 and seeing my Uncle Albert on the Flickr pool there was a bit of a shock.

Too gay
Started on a gaming board recently - will post some WIP pictures tomorrow. I'm going to try to teach First Born how to play some simple tabletop rules.
Gentlenerds! Looking for the best way to strip paint off old figures? Then put simply it's Biostrip20. Just used it and it's fucking amazing. One hour soak and everything's off. No sticky paintgunk like when you use dettol. No horrible smell like when you use brake fluid. No melting AT ALL of plastic like when you use anything else. Amazing stuff.
Anybody else saw this?

The animation is about 100x better than the Ultramarines movie shite they released a couple of years ago. It's been okayed by GW themselves, so it's an official thing now. Done by someone working at Crytek, apparently.
Well that looks pretty damned epic.
Chaos forces are Alpha Legion, apparently. Script has been wrut by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, my favourite BL author too.
Excellent, paint stripping is an arseache.

Nerd film looks good!
Reading the rumourmills it looks like we're in for new greater daemons. HMMM! Plackky kits with additional resin parts to make "named" daemons.
well well well..

I'll try to look surprised when they arrive. Shortly before throwing ALL MY MONEY INTO THEIR FACES.
You do all know that Space Hulk has been released on Steam don't you?

Probably worth reading this before you get too excited:

Ja, sounds like it's been released in quite a state, eh? Maybe they could sort out most of those issues with an patch, eh?

Hardly an excuse, though.

I know absolutely nothing about the game in any of it's forms but from reading Rab's review there it sounded more like they'd somehow completely missed the point of some aspects of the game rather than these being defects or whatever that needed patched out. Which is to say I agree with you.
GW have utterly, utterly jumped the shark:

Image
Just look like Imperial version Obliterators to me. Filling tabletop roles rather than aesthetic ones.

Edit: ah yeah, they're Centurions. Tactical Dreadnought armour. The idea's been knocking around for ages in the card games.
Yeah, but the execution is appalling. I've not seen such shitty, stiff poses since Space Crusade.
They are fucking horrible.

Trying not to be a complete GW apologist, but it does sort of match the armour. They're wearing dreadnought armour, so we're looking at incredibly slow trudging towards things or standing while unloading at targets. Can't see whether the waists are even articulated.

They look slightly better in Ultraborines colours.

Image
That Dreadknight comparisons are quite apt. These dreadnought armours are something that an already fully armoured marine steps into. A back image has emerged:

Image

shows the back of the leg of the normal armour. So basically it's a big shield with weapons. A further scan from an upcoming White Dwarf:

Image

So there you go. They're not as mobile as a Tau Broadside, so the poses reflect that. Looks like they'll either be on a 50 or 60mm base. The 60mm will scale them up to the same height as a normal Dread.
They still look shit, Dimmers.
 I wouldn't've bought them if they'd've been breakdancing.
They do look very clunky, but as Dimrill says that's what they are.

Not a model I'd be interested in anyway really.
Rumours ring that Games Workshop will release a £10,000 bundle at the same time as the Space Marines codex next month. http://masterminis.blogspot.de/2013/08/ ... -ever.html
False Astartes!

*spits on floor*

*gets shouted at by manager*
Done a great job on his face.
All the Space Marine pre-orders are up on the Games Workshop site now. Good luck getting a look at them, though. They've unintentionally launched a DDoS attack on their site through frothing fanboys. *wipes chin*
Underwhelming.
