I hate you. I've found somewhere here selling for 444, but I don't know if that is web price only. If I can trade in NV for 350 I might be able to persuade my girlfriend to pay the difference.

Its good but not groundbreaking or amazing or ZOMG fantastic

It has the gfx of MW2, the controls feel a mix between MW and WaW and the sound effects arent blowing me away.

Will report back when campaign finished.
I hope it has memorable moments.

According to the cheevo whoring websites, that corridor section is the hardest part of the game on Veteran. I'll give it another bash this afternoon. Other than that I was actually really enjoying the campaign - a lot more than MW2's campaign which I thought was a huge disappointment. I also love the setting for the multiplayer maps. Makes a change to shitty Afghan deserts and knackered towns, or Nazi Occupied Europe knackered towns. The maps are really well designed as well. Overall, 100 times better than MW2 which by the end I actually hated (for many reasons, all of which have been fixed in CODBLOPS) rather than "got sick of".

There's a few maps that feel to me like paintballing venues.

Is that bad or good? And which ones? I think there are a few I'm yet to play. All of the ones I have played are utterly excellent, though. Barring, POSSIBLY, one with loads of training targets everywhere. I've only played that one once though, it was alright.

It's hard on every difficulty when the fucking door doesn't open at the end of it.

Some thoughts in the order that ran through my mind whilst playing the new shiny shiny:

This manual is the worst manual I’ve ever come across. What a waste of paper.
Why can’t I skip the goddamn fucking Treyarch screen?
*starts to play the single player on Hardened*
Great voice for a black guy – sounds like, no, it is…Ice Cube!
I’m standing right next to this guy and he isn’t shooting me whilst I slowly reload…
DIE CASTRO!
The character animation is aces.
*Jumps off a plane at speed* Hmmm, that “felt” a bit rubbish.
I’ll play this later…
*starts multiplayer*
Why can’t I access all the playlists? I want hardcore, I want hardcore! Waahh.
No War? Meh.
I intensely dislike this menu.
The sound effects are from World at War.
It feels like World at War.
*tried to jump on a truck. Stopped by invisible barrier *
Hmmm, IW never had that problem.
*after unlocking more of the playlist*
I want hardcore, I want hardcore.
*after ranking up a bit*
WHERE’S THE TITLES AND EMBLEMS?
*buys a couple of snap-ons*
Finally – got a red dot. I can kill people again!
*buys a camera*
THIS IS THE GREATEST ADDITION TO COD EVA!
*FINALLY figures out where the Titles are kept in a box at the bottom of a busy menu. Flicks through the Titles*
Christ these are boring. No “PAWNNOOB”? Just pictures.
*ranks up a bit and obtains some money*
No title? Just some money? So what’s the point of bothering to complete the challenges when I can just keep playing and get more money?
*looks at the player card for a bit*
Interesting stats. Bored now.
*looks at the challenges*
Hmmm, doesn’t seem as many or as interesting as MW2.
*tries to look at the challenges for each weapon on the create a class menu*
What, I can’t just press X, I have to go back to the fucking player card? But I can press X on Perks. Oh for fucks sake.
*looks at the emblems*
Oh Jesus these are just fucking atrocious.
*buys more tat*
Hmmm, more tat. I HATE these fucking menus.
I can pay for challenges and earn money. Ok?
*completes “win 2 matches”*
Yay! More money.
*looks at emblems again*
Huh, I can create my own? Wha..
*buys a smiley face*
*buys a speech bubble, 1, A and a magnet*
*puts together a smiley face that is saying “1An”*
BRILLIANT!
*Slinks off to bed*

Overall I think it’s a real misstep that the focus is put on money rather than completing challenges for Titles and Emblems. The satisfaction of doing something – often after lots of efforts – now no longer exists. Titles and Emblems – which were interesting and a real reason why people continued playing has vanished overnight, which I think will be a problem over time. Also, not opening up the playlists (at least for Hardcore) is massively restrictive to people who have been playing since COD4 and want to play what they want.

CoD 4 had restricted playlists on the first prestige though. However, I believe that this was circumvented by joining friends. If that can't be achieved this time I'm going to be reet pissed off that I can't play Hardcore with my friends when I get back home after the weekend.

No fucking way! Does he do the voice in the multiplayer as well? I was going to comment on how the 90s GANGSTA they've got to do the "Spy Plane Ready" voice doesn't particularly fit in with the setting, and I was actually going to jokingly assume it was Ice Cube or Nas or someone. :D

Oh, and as for the Hardcore thing - it seems a little silly locking it from the beginning, but after a night's play time, I'm about two levels from unlocking it forever, so it's not that bad.

you'll all be about 7th prestige with all the map packs by the time I get it so there better be joining in hardcore games without unlocking them.

Ooops, I slipped and drove into the Tesco car park, squeezed into a narrow parking space, fell out of the car, tripped up the stairs, stumbled into tesco, dropped this game and 2100 points into my hand, then accidentally payed for both.

If the corridor section you're referring to is in the tunnels after the rocket launch, then yes.

Yep, he does the voice for the Black Ops (I think, anyway, one of the teams) on multiplayer an' all.

I'm assuming the playlists don't lock up after you prestige? They all seem linked to your rank which gives me the impression that they would. And I see the max prestige is 15 this time around. Yeah, like I'll be fucked about doing that for a title no one will be interested in.

I doubt they lock back up when you prestige. Well, I bloody hope they don't! Pretty sure they didn't on all of the previous CoDs. IIRC in MW2 for example, most of the playlists were locked when you first start, and I don't recall seeing them locked up ever again, even after prestiging. Can anyone confirm?

Thinking about it, you might be right - MW2's playlist might have been gradually unlocked too. My bad. So when's COD BLOPS night? Tuesdays at 8pm? ;)

My favourite multiplayer map so far is very small, about two houses with a removal truck and fire truck in the middle. Domination on there is brilliant.

I think other people should buy and play the Shiny Shiny with their friends instead of insisting on some outdated alien game.

Thats Nuke town , playing TDM in there the nuke actually goes off at the end of the game - I think thats my favourite so far and one of the reasons is that its small and there are not *that* many places to hide (there are just so many snipe / killing hidey holes in the others)

I think my favourite so far is Grid. There's a cool one (WMD I think) where you can actually open a silo door in the ground with a switch, which changes the layout of the map slightly. I wonder if there are any more interactive bits in the maps? Reminds me of UT!

I genuinely think the maps are great this time out. Nothing is jumping at me as shit straight away, whereas in MW2 I'd say at least half of the maps I'd actively try to avoid from pretty much day one, whether it was because of the setting (which bored me), or the layout just being shit, or both (Afghan).

I agree, quite a few campers paradise places on the maps. Many areas on MW2 had 3 places of entry, whereas on this there are some dead-ends in the middle of the map. Also, I never snipe, but on Launch I had a 3 longshot killstreak off the tower to get the time limited challenge completed.

I genuinely haven't noticed many camping spots that don't have at least two points of entry. And if there are any with just one, they always have a couple of windows to lob grenades into - just like in MW2.

The RC car is no where near as game destroying as teh internets had been complaining and is actually wicked fun when you get one.

On the flip side, it's easily destroyable since it needs only one hit and it's not too small to hit, nor too fast.

But what about the Camera! I was trying to find a quiet spot in a room with a good overview, set up my camera which prewarned me enough to get my first Cobra!

Also, anyone had/seen the chopper gunner yet? When you're buzzing around with the chaingun it doesn't appear to identify targets on the ground, which I've been campaigning for for ages. I think anyways, cause I only noticed after I'd been mowed up. I wonder if the gunship does it instead though?

Play Domination on Launch. Point A has a shed overlooking that you can't get into the back of. Point B has a huge area opposite the flag that has perfect view of both directions, and Point C has clear line of sight from the edge of the map.

I need to do some work.
