Ah personal insults.

Bringing up the bullying thing is mocking a perfectly serious point by equating it with the mods just being a little immature.

It's hardly the same as changing someone else's av who can't fight back.

I was just being a little immature first time round, not bullying anyone. Your continued suggestion that it was otherwise is offensive and bodering on libellous.

People come, people go. We've had about the same number of people join as leave insofar as regular contributions go. If you don't want to be here, no one's forcing you to be.

Using your power to affect someone when you know they can't fight back is pretty much the dictionary definition of bullying.

Whilst this is probably true or true(ish), I really don't think it's the right attitude to take.

When members who helped form the board and who are amongst the biggest contributors to the board are leaving or thinking of leaving because of totally avoidable things that are, for the most part, very stupid, I don't think the best thing to do is encourage that.

Indeed, and Mr Chris has sincerely apologised for what he did. Personally I thought it was funny but very misjudged and shouldn't have happened.

This time around, the capery only effected mod accounts, and hence does not fit your definiton of bullying. Plus, we all found it very funny anyway.

Where is your problem?

Calm down dears, it's only the internet.

Mountains get made out of molehills, people take things personally, people misunderstand, IT'S ONLY LETTERS ON A SCREEN.

If people acted in real life like they do in forums then they'd have no job, no friends and would spend their days locked in a small room venting their bile at some characters on a screen while wondering if that afternoons entertainment was either making a Pot Noodle or having a wank.

I'm not actively encouraging or discouraging. I don't particularly want anyone to leave, but if they're becoming increasingly disenchanted with the way things are around here, sometimes it's best to take a backseat.

I had what I thought was a run in with Grim... a couple of weeks ago and decided it was best I left for a while as I was taking some things far too personally and thought everything was a snipe at me. I wasn't sure if I was coming back, but after four days I wanted to contribute again. Sometimes if - like me - you've invested a lot in this place, you just have to take a step back sometimes.

Nothing except whoever it was who went "LOL PEOPLE ARE GOING TO CALL THIS MOD BULLYING", as if it's exactly the same thing, which is all I picked up on before someone, possibly multiple people had a meltdown over it.

Yes, doing something reversible that is neither cruel nor humiliating is of course bullying. For something to be bullying there needs to be an element of malice*, which was entirely absent in this case. And your implication that there *was* malice in my actions is what's pissing me off right now.

*Every dictionary definition I've seen has been something along the lines of "Bullying is the act of intentionally causing harm to others, through verbal harassment, physical assault, or other more subtle methods of coercion such as manipulation."

Also: bullying:

1. An act of intimidating a weaker person to do something, especially such repeated coercion.

2. Persistent acts intended to make life unpleasant for another person

So - your continuing to accuse me of bullying is, frankly, libellous. And entirely unexcellent.

And as it was meant to be a throwaway joke and not actually to convince everyone that we were different people, I find the comment 'we weren't clever enough to change our sigs' a little insulting.

Honestly, I can sort've see Dudley's point. I'm absolutely sure it's all in fun and there's no malicious intent, but it's still a bit of a tossy thing to do to make light of something that you know caused people genuinue upset a few days earlier. Might have been better all round to put it behind us.

'Course, that's roughly how I feel about Duds' constant pick-pick-pick of the WoS-scar too, so...

Seriously though, can we can it now, it's getting tedious. Let all just agree to be friends and get on, we all like it here or we wouldn't be here, it's the season of goodwill soon, so lets all have some eggnog. :)

Missed my cocking train. Specifically, I missed my first train by 30seconds, and the next train then parked at Queen Street for 5min, which means I missed my connecting train by 30seconds. 45min freezing in Cardiff Central is my reward. As with all other rail problems in my life, I blame Meaty.

It wasn't a criticism :) I like them, I don't like that we can't talk about the past.

It was just pointing out you bring it up more than I do, if only because you think of better material. :)

For just £2 a month you can subscribe to my newsletter. I promise to issue at least 12 newsletters a year*.

For the record I don't mind having a joke about the past either. It's where this forum came from after all and it was a painful experience. But I do know that some people from here still post over there still and may think differently. I actually don't have much of a clue which people do and don't barring a couple of our "star" posters.

Having a laugh at it, well it's a coping mechanism as I wish I was actually over there and things were like the old days. Although now at least I don't have to bite my tongue from time to time because the mod has come out with a daft statement and he doesn't feel like argueing or he got out of the wrong side of bed.

This place ain't perfect but it'll do. But I do hanker after the old days but I can't feel that bitter about it when I see certain people saying how much he prefers certain other forums now it has no traffic. Abit like sitting in a pub that has gradually lost all its punters and saying how much better it is now all the customers have gone. Not better for the landlord.....

Anyway, not raking over it. Responses to this post won't be read by me. Not being funny but I just wanted to say my piece without having a debate. A cathartic post, not intended for serious consumption.

* Pluto years.
