It's West Kirby Marine lake. It's a walled off shallow lake in the Dee estuary for sailing and other watersports. Very. Fucking. Windy.

Donkeys (probably mules) in the Grand Canyon.

Aw, that first mule looks knackered. Nice subject, shame the distance in the background is blown out, but you can still tell where it is by the shape of the mountain in the middle ground.

I know this is a re-post but I was shown a PS trick to make the eyes pop and I'm really rather proud of this.

There was a second close up shot that had a cheekier expression though IMHO.

Wowsers Decca, you should be proud of that eye-popping kitten pic. Supercillious kitten makes me uncomfortable however.

Oh that's great Pete. Love the skin tone texture contrasting against the brass. Excellent portraiture again. I'd never thought Ramsea and Flis looked like that.

I think cropping out the amp/speaker on the floor and door frame behind them would strengthen the image though, IMHO.

In order:

Strongly approve - excellent popping colour but not overdone. Light pleasantly varied and depth of focus excellent. Really sweet framing and the pic's balanced well.

Mildly disapprove - bit too busy a shot with the foliage behind the gate and the light's a little too flat. Not bad, but not interesting.

Strongly approve - the flat light for this portrait really makes the face look almost organically alive, and the darkness behind adds mystery. A weird shot.

Strongly approve - Good slightly menacing close framing here, it's really leaning over you. Again, you've imbued some life into a sculpture. Where were these taken?

Mildly disapprove - Nice weathering and good choice of B&W, but ultimately not that exciting a subject without some strong detail work or light patterns going on.

Added up: CONCRETE APPROVAL :)

Thanks for the feedback Pete (I'll spare you the oversaturated gate picture then ;) ). They were taken around the grounds of Norton Priory in Runcorn. It has an Walled Garden an a sculpture walk. The first head was called 'Plant head' and was just poking over the bushes when we came around a corner. I had to climb up to it to get a decent picture. The second is called 'Kneeling Gardener' and done in a medieval style and I loved it. Great character and soul behind the eyes

What do you think of this'un?

I like the lighting on that, very odd mix of cold blue around the warm spot on the chair. Possibly best of the bunch for me.

Ooh I'm going to have to come back and have a look over this thread in more detail in a bit, it suddenly went all awesome on me. I just went out to tapton park and took a load of photos, some with a polarising filter. I know I got a couple of great shots that were totally not what I was expecting to find but how they look out of the viewfinder is the thing. But first A Brew.

Oh! I didn't mean for you to do that, Meems, you are most definitely not an arse! He's not offensive at all, just shiver inducing because I'm a right wimp :D And I was expecting a cute Mimi-esque pic of something super lovely :)

That's quite an impressive shot then, less than 1cm? He looks like he'd eat Gazchaps spider for breakfast, there!

I like how the blur on his legs could either be motion blur (and a giant spider) or depth-of-field focus thingy and a tiny spider.
Impressive shot since it is a tiny spider though!

Yes, I had the camera lens about 1.5-2cm and he was still for about one second before dashing away behind a book on the window sill. I don't like spiders at all myself, but he was so small he didn't bother me. Maybe I am cured of spider fear?
