I even gave Mrs T a second credit card linked to my account a few months back, I'm reckless like that.

I'm a bit like that, but only because I have a ridiculous overdraft. (As a gambler, having a bank which gladly increased my limit every time I asked for it was not a good combination!)

Last year was the first time I didn't take the list of engines that could go into the car I wanted and just point at the one with the biggest numbers and say "this one" :(

There's talk of another desk move happening here.. I hope I get a good concealed seat again.

:this: for me.

And of course there was the obligatory buying a virtually brand new car that was way beyond my means because the nice Honda salesman assured me I could afford it and I chose to believe him.

I actually had a meeting at the bank last weekend to go over my debt issues and work out the best way to deal with them. Prayer and the occasional lottery ticket appeared to be the best way forward.

I need to go back about twelve years and shout "DO IT, YOU FUCKING IDIOT" at myself.
And also go back about a month and tell myself to, er, "behave" at the office party.

I'd go back and tell myself to buy rare games, before they came rare.

I'm quite happy with where I am with my life at the moment so I wouldn't want to risk changing anything... Apart from the fact that my Panzer Dragoon Saga has a ripped box.

That keeps me up at night with worry sometimes.

Genuine question. :)

From a plumbing point of view it can be slightly bad for a few reasons, the main one being that the new 'shower' is just the taps so it doesn't have a thermostatic valve. This means that if you are showering and someone else turns on a cold tap in the house then the cold pressure will drop on your 'shower' and you can get scalded. This is why it is required for all new showers to be thermostaticly regulated.

Also they are ugly :)

Do you not regularly use a shower? A hose on the taps is just sub par all round. Poor pressure, the temperature issues mentioned above, just generally rubbish.

Electric showers aren't particularly prone to breaking as far as I'm aware either. And it doesn't necessarily have to be electric box on the wall thingy anyway. Either way, a proper dedicated shower is a must and I'd be surprised if you'd be able to rent the place out without one frankly. A good shower is absolutely top of my list. Nothing worse than a poor shower.

A good dedicated mixer shower is all you need. They're not electric. Only work with combi boilers, though.

Most rental places have an electric shower, they are very reliable. I'd imagine you'd get moaned at a lot if you rented it out without a proper shower!

You can have a mixer shower on a gravity fed system, I put one in my house - it's not a thermostatic type but as it's plumbed off a whole-house TMV (which is the law, in scotland) it doesn't matter. But it's a good point, as you have to go out of your way and possibly spend a bit more to get one which will work reasonably on a low pressure.

I'm moving desks (and changing roles) tomorrow. I'll be in the corner, though away from lovely colleague and awesomesauce manager. Though I'll be moving next to the nice girl who briefly joined here to show her miniatures paintings before you all nerded her out.

I'll be moving against a wall, relatively concealed, I think, though I'll miss my window vantage on the world. No linger near the freezing cold stairwell, though.

Also will be in the noisy part of the room :(

Nice. Does she want to buy a cot bed?

Shower; no, I don't have one now, it's why we're moving the bathroom around. I have a combi boiler with a high pressure system so didn't think that pressure would be an issue. Someone else using the water at the same time hadn't occurred to me as there's only usually me up at 6am anyway. As for not renting it without one, this is a council estate, the standards aren't that high. ;)

Then with a combi boiler I would recommend a mixer shower, you will find it a damn sight better than any electric shower and possibly cheaper.

Something like this -

would set you back £70 plus installation
