Bye bye car!

Was a bit of a mission getting it on the trailer, as his winch broke halfway through and the car doesn't have a handbrake at the moment :D
All sorted in the end, and I have 113 £10 notes in the safe... the annoying fucker.
How many are fakes?
In other news, HC’s mission to trash the N/S front wheel rim of the beemer lead to a sidewall shredding moment and the need for a new tyre.
The other three wheels are largely unscathed, but her determination to trash this one wheel is really something
Enthusiastic parking, I'm guessing
Got a completely clean run at the mountain this morning (the joys of working slightly odd hours) and managed 141mph.

I think I can apex into the mountain mile a bit better, and maybe get my shifts a bit more on point, but I reckon 145mph is going to be about it, certainly not enough road to get to the 155mph limiter.

Also, once you get above about 130mph it all starts to feel really fast and one becomes acutely aware that anything going wrong will most likely result in death.

The brakes are massively better than the ST (and the S4, the brakes on the S4 were shit), no fade at all by the end of the mountain section.

That. Or the half a dozen width restrictors in the neighbourhood.
I cannot fathom what they do.

Push the kerb out of the way

Nor I
I don’t drive, but I’m guessing they hit/scrape the kerb first and make a noise to stop you danaging the wheel.

Like low-tech parking sensors. But for the sides of tge car.
Mimi wins!

AND YOU GUYS THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT CARS!!!

How many does the Hyundai come with, Hearthly?

OBJECTION. I have never claimed that. Ha!
I've never heard of them before, they're cool.

@ hearthly not enough road = not enough power.
Cars aren't really designed to do their top theoretical speeds really are they? I know an mr2 at 140 feels like the front ends actually off the ground and at 160 an Impreza's windows flex out about an inch off the door frame.
Might suit the Scimitar! :D

Seeing as you mentioned it
Something a bit rat-rod about the shiny new radiator and air filter can against the dirty, aged bodywork.
Shiny air filter!

Don't forget the cap you left on the battery.
Bonus points for Slick 50 sticker.
:)
Rat rod would be a fair description. There's about to be a lot of blue hoses in there too
Car is booked in to get a dashcam fitted on the 12th June. (Unfortunately the place is closed next week for TT race week.)

It's a midrange Blaupunkt jobby and it'll be professionally wired in. Total cost including fitting and required wiring/adapter thingies is £180. It's also got a motion sensor on it so will record URCHINS should they come to fuck with my car of an evening.
How much do you think £180 will amortise out to per week you own the car?

£20??
£180 / 104 = £1.73 per week.

£2 a month
Hearthly wrote:

So you’re getting rid exactly two years later so you can win your bets
No that's the just the maximum cost per week based on the minimum ownership period of two years, so a worst case scenario, basically.

Uh-huh. And you've never once had a car for two whole years before, correct?

EDIT TO ADD - Fuck me, just quickly jotted down the ones I can remember and the actual tally is 22 cars in 17 years!... There may be more, these are the ones I can definitely recall.

By my count you're on your fifth car since writing that.
Not exactly the weather for it today!

I would absolutely love it if the only reason he keeps it two years is to spite us.
He'll just buy an extra one.

Parking near the pump?
Shush you, my last car was a lot bigger...

I counted, this is car 31. I was expecting more to be honest.
I’m only on my 8th, and 10 bikes.
11th car in 19 years. Longest ownership was the Clio 182 which I kept for four years (2012-2016). Shortest was the Bora TDI Sport which I bought for £850 and conked out in under two weeks around July last year.
4th car.

so about a years worth in Hearthly terms.

Those, plus a new Focus called "Fletch".

I'd forgotten the colossal numbers of absolute bangers you'd owned.
Mr Dave wrote:

I have just under 3 Hearthly years’ worth.
Just the 3 for me, but what a 3!
2! Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta. Had my licence 29 years. I think I am balancing Cavey. Not Hearthly, perhaps.
MrsA and I have had 205 (£275), fiesta( dunno, was mrsA's), 306 (£1000), Ka (£2,500), Forester (£2,900), Exciting Rover (£660)

Of those, the 306 was the best, due to mpg and load space, the 205 the most entertaining, the forester the most capable and the Exciting Rover the best value for money.
My list is right up to date.

25 and counting.....
