Loads of people seem to be having issues with mice. We certainly have, but also people at work. Maybe the weather, or just a plague caused by those gay married types who fucked up the weather.

:D I've been getting them in cars quite a bit recently, the tops off oil bottles appear to be a delicacy, hilarity ensues. Not so hilarious is their penchant for wiring.

Yeah, same. I went through a halcyon age, in October/November, when I was hitting that 10:30-11pm window. No more, sadly.

I'd worked shifts for a couple of years and that completely destroyed my ability to get a decent night's sleep.
I could never drop off until close to midnight which would have been and then found myself waking at 6am or earlier.

It took ages to get back to normal sleeping hours, then when I was stressed about house moves, work stuff and a few other bits and pieces over the last few years I had real difficulties sleeping.

Fortunately that's all sorted now so I can happily go to bed between 10 and 10:30, read for a while and then sleep. I still struggle to get a lie in past 8, but I'm fine with that.

As I think we've discussed before, I have mild DSPS (or DSPD I think it is now), which stands for Delayed Sleep-phase Syndrome/Disorder. Basically it shifts my body clock forward a few hours (I'm about three, really bad people are about eight), so I want to sleep from around 2am to around 10am. If it weren't for work I could carry on without an issue, but I don't think they'd like me turning up at midday and leaving at 8:30pm :)

So anyway, the upshot is that I'm basically jet-lagged throughout the working week (even if I'm properly knackered I'll have trouble falling asleep before 11:30pm) and then have my blissful Friday night when I go to bed at 3 and wake up at around midday.

It's not ideal, but - like I say - I have it a lot better than the poor bastards who are shifted by eight hours or so, and - if I'm honest - being up late was a huge help when I was learning how to program.

It's also linked to my core body temperature, which (along with masses of fat) might start to explain why I don't need to wear a coat during the day.

What about when you go abroad, do you stay on UK time for falling asleep, or do you adjust?

My body wants to sleep 6.30am to 1.30pm. It sucks, because I know from uni days that I'm many times more productive when I can run to that schedule. As it is I'm generally paid to be capable of.nothing most mornings, which makes me feel bad. As well as fucking tired.

When I go to Japan its bliss for a few days, until my body lock shifts.

presumably it's a light/dark thing.

I suspect using bright screens in the evening doesn't help with these things.

I think my natural sleep cycle is probably 04:00 - 12:00, which is what I always seem to tend to when I have no responsibilites in the morning.

As a teenager/early twenty something I would find it almost impossible to get to sleep before 04:00 and would normally then get up 08:00, making up for sleep at the weekend.

I even found it impossible to sleep in cars/trains/planes etc

I found that having kids, and the sleep deprovation from that was enough to kick me out of that, but as I said, when left to my own devices, I tend to that sort of bed time pretty quickly.

I started having loads of pain on sunday evening, suspecting another gallstone attack
unfortunately the pain didn't subside the next day and only got worse and worse
doc sent me to the emergency room on friday afternoon and friday night they took my gallbladder out
all went well, I'm back home, feeling quite sore etc but super relieved!

Fuck me, that sounds exactly like the problems I've been suffering from since I was doing my A-levels, the whole lot. It's still so bad that if I have to get up abnormally early (6am or so) in literally I have to stay up all night without sleep to manage, and no matter what I've tried nothing readjusts my body clock so I'm continually exhausted during weekdays.

Hang on, this sounds familiar. If left on my own, I tend to go to a 5am-ish to 5pm-ish sleep cycle, I've done the 'have to sign on/have a job interview at 9am, stay up all night, do the thing, go to sleep after' thing.

Go chat to your GPs, other odd sleep people. They can refer you to sleep specialists.

I have a job interview on Thursday for a competitor. I was told in August that I would be called for an interview 'soon', 5 months is soon.

I need to remember what I applied for now :)

So, it turns out Dropbox is disappointingly shite. It happily accepts auto-uploads from my phone of any pictures I take but I spent a chunk of the weekend fighting to get it to accept the upload of a couple of medium-sized (~350MB) video files and it was not happy about that at all. It would say it was uploading stuff but when it got to the stage of having a few seconds left on the upload it would just sit in that state never progressing; while utterly swamping the connection in a way that ruined any BitTorrent downloads I had going. I got it to eventually, grudgingly, finalise one file upload by unlinking and relinking the desktop client from my Dropbox account but the second file just wouldn't go in at all. Even after uninstalling it completely, deleting all the cache files I could find and doing a fresh install it wouldn't have it. Google Drive came to the rescue so that'll be my go-to for decently sized files from now on but I'm surprised by how shite the Dropbox experience was for such things.

It's never given me any hassle for photo uploads and I uploaded a similar video file sometime last year with no problems but this was a real fucking pain.

I have finally got warm after Saturday. Played rugby, in that terrible weather, hail like bullets. it was icy cold mud, don't think I have ever been as cold in my life.

I scored my first try for Telford.

It was mad seeing all of use come of the pitch straight into the shower, still in kit, till we could get feeling back.

Someone nom'd a post for the BeexWeex they still clearly think is going to be written and then unregistered from the forum. Which was odd. Seriously, thank you for the noms, I am ignoring them as too busy to write it.

Slightly scary thought: It's now over 10 years since I joined WoS.

It's been one heck of a final year project procrastination tool. Cheers chaps.

I think I joined in March or April 2005. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, and now the Time Variance Authority have erased that part of history, I can't even check.

I joined Wos on Boxing Day 2003 or 2004, I can't recall, when was Beagle 2? I think it was that year. Ah Beagle 2 was 2003, but according to the way back link that BN (shudder) posted, it was 2004, so over 9 years.

My appraisal has been pushed back to tomorrow.

Other than that, today is going terribly and I'm in a foul mood.
