Got the song title wrong, though. It's Heathen Tribes.

(I can be heard drunkenly shouting about 8 seconds in.)

The new Amon is ten times better than anything Deicide's done since the split. Hoffman redemption.

The last one wasn't bad either. I was as shocked as any, as the last I'd listened to was Digimortal.

It's bad bad bad, isn't it? So much so it went back in time and ruined Demanufacture and Obsolete as well.

Post subject:  Re: Metaaaal!

Obsolete sounded not right even back then. Demanufacture still reigns supreme in these ears. Archetype was actually good, too. But Trangression was just appalling again.

I was never their biggest fan, but I had forgotten the lows they found with Digimortal :spew:

Obsolete was something I loved initially, when I heard the 'different' songs ('Descend', 'Timelessness', 'Resurrection') and I basked in how it was bassier and more human sounding.

Then, I focused more on the non-different songs, and the fact that the band was supposed to sound cold and inhuman.

Eventually I saw them as a proto-Dillinger Escape Plan: a couple of really good songs that deviate from the norm, massively outnumbered by 'keep the fanbase sweet' them-by-numbers.

Resurrection is my favourite song of theirs, funnily enough.

Yeah, the crescendo is pretty insane. I'm gonna stick it on once '9 Joint Spiritual Whip' finishes.

Just won the original Infidel Art digipack on eBay. That's my Sigh discog finished! Well, apart from a couple of highly elusive demo tapes.

Ed: revisiting the album in anticipation of this purchase, it struck me that the orchestra hits at the end of Izuna sound like something from Mario Paint. :p

As far as I'm aware, yep. If they're playing Nottingham I'm dragging AcheyBreakyHeart to see them.

Hmm. Lamb of God's frontman has been arrested in the Czech Republic in connexion with the death of a fan more than two years ago. Sounds pretty serious.

Putting together a compilation today made me realise that all of my favourite bands' output is from the late 90s/early 00s. That makes me old and not cool. :(

Aye, "He Came With Rats" is acebest spacequest. I generally hate the tendency to sound like something from 20-30 years ago in music (which is completely disavowed in pop/"indie", where everything is presented as brand new regardless), but I'm loving the resurgence of old-school thrash, black metal, DM, etc...

One of the best albums of the 80s...the gig they did in Sheffield on the Truth and Soul tour was just brilliant. There were so many instruments on the Leadmill stage that it seemed there was hardly any room for the band, but do there stuff they did.

You're so annoying.

Separate points
1. They serve Red Stripe on tap
2. The venue got very hot

Sonic Youth's first few albums were about sparkly vampires.
