Even if you were the first person in the queue I wouldn't be expecting your points until November. I'm still waiting for points for buying all of those arcade games when Perfect Dark came out.

Just caught a lovely, fast black horse and went on my way to hitch it somewhere so I wouldn't lose it. Got all the way to McFarlane's ranch, and was just about to get to my house, when I accidentally rode over the start of a mission. Of course, missions automatically accept themselves in this, and of course the horse I was left with after the cut-scene was my old, brown, boringly slow horse. Fucksake.

Is there any way to get the stats of the horse you're on? I see all these horses for sale in the general store, but I've no idea if any of them are any better than the one I have.

Post subject:  Re: Red Dead Redemption

I've gotten into the habit of 'breaking' almost every hoss I see out in the wild, even though I originally wanted to stick with one for the entire game. I just can't seem to keep them for very long. Even starting a mission without having hitched your steed somewhere generally means goodbye forever, it seems.

You only need to hitch a horse once to have it saved until it dies.

Post subject:  Re: Red Dead Redemption

Excellent, cheers! I should have figured the hitching was important for more than just keeping the horse in one place. I've been seriously neglecting it. :p

Yes, it is.

50-or so animals in, I'm really quite bored of the skinning animation now. Also, games makers! If I'm skinning a deer on top of a cliff, I'm actually clever enough not to stand up in satisfied fashion on the other side of the animal and drop off the cliff to my death, OK? Please make your animations clever enough too.

Well in the game it only does it if you're going full tilt. If you're at a trot the horse will force you away from the cliff. Which is pretty reasonable.

Seems to happen to me far too often. Although never trotting anywhere probably is the cause.

Post subject:  Re: Red Dead Redemption

I've not run off a cliff yet. I've had the horse shy away from ones when I've gone near them, though.

Lost two more horses last night.

Lucy: Taken down by a cougar that came out of nowhere. Sob.

Shitfire: Man pleaded for help, saying some outlaws had taken his wife. Found her hanging from a tree. Shot the rope and a couple of bandits. Man grabbed his wife and galloped off. I followed, leaving a couple of outlaws alive. Didn't think they'd come after us. After being thanked profusely by the couple, the bandits appeared at the top of the hill we were on and fired down. The man died, slumped on his horse, the woman ran off screaming... straight towards the outlaws. I followed, went into dead eye, shot both the bandits dead, but as the second outlaw slumped to the ground, Shitfire keeled over, hit by one of the last bullets those bastards ever fired. I blame myself for that one - I should have finished off the outlaws before riding off for my reward. Poor Shitfire. Well, at least the woman survived.

Am now riding his identical twin Shitbiscuit, who belonged to one of the dead outlaws.

Haven't seen any, sadly.

That was an ace story, Rev. Please type more about some things at some point.

The treasure maps are brilliant, though I haven't a clue where the fourth one is yet. The third one annoyed me a bit, as I remember seeing the location during a mission, but couldn't for the life of me remember where.

If you look at the map in your inventory (don't click on it, just move over it), it tells you that it is in Nuevo Paradiso or whatever it's called, which is the second of the three big areas (south of the river).

The third one is super-easy if you've done some of Seth's missions, because you walk right past it.

It's annoying that I have no idea whether to buy a horse or not, because I don't know if mine is actually 'good'.

Well, you go in the building, but you go past the actual pile of rocks.

No, it's exactly the same - I just meant that the location where the treasure is is the pile of rocks, not the building. The building is the 'big clue', not the detail - like

Definitely a unicycle. And a cowboy hat, so you can ride your unicycle into town, hitch it up outside a tavern and go in and start a shoot-out.

I'm sure that would look good. Jen arrives at work to do the back shift and they recieve a call about a hold up on the Number 11. She rushes to the scene, blue lights flashing and finds her cowboy hatted girlfriend peddling furiously backwards and forwards in front of the bus with her tongue sticking out between her teeth with the concentration of it all, shooting a water pistol into the air. I'd have some explaining to do and I doubt she'd let me go out shopping alone again ;)

Multiplayer is pretty good too. The only played free roam so far but the shoot out and challengers to kill everything in the world is pretty good too. Also starting out at level 1 you only have a Donkey. Thus making multilayer a bit more like fallout just as the Doctor diagnosed with regards to Levelling and not the Donkey.

The only real ballache I've encountered so far is in having to do three or four missions with De Santa before anything else opens up. It's not that you have to stick with those ones that's the pain, though - it's that De Santa is always back on the opposite side of the map from you as soon as your current mission ends. Boo-urns!

Uh - De Santa? Surely the early missions you have to do are with Bonnie?
