Finished off the assassin missions last night...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
what's the point going out to their boat when you can just stand on the shore and snipe their head off?

I think all that remains of the singleplayer game is the tedious collecting of flying rats and jumps, and to do another dozen or so cars-by-text (which wouldn't be so bad except you have to wait an ingame day to get the next request, snore!)

Played a bit of multiplayer the other night. The 'Join the Midnight Club' achievement is a bastard - it says you can't damage your car too much. I barely scratched mine but still utterly trounced my opponent, and still didn't get it. Reportedly the record you need to beat for 'Hangman's Noose' to work towards the 'Fly the co-op' achievement is a ridiculous two and a half minutes!

Jolly amusing adventures yesterday, chaps.

I'm not entire sure how it happened, but first Dimrill and then Lave managed to get blimmin' miles out to sea (possibly by falling out of a boat or helicopter) and Mr Dave located the world's slowest boat to go and rescue them as it's not possible to kill yourself while swimming it would seem.

Glyndwr and I were off trying to jump over the West River in cars and bikes, and so I commandeered a helicopter to go and see if we could assist (as from what we were hearing, Dave was struggling to rescue the mischievous Dimrill). We arrived to find Dimrill and Dave had gone to locate ANOTHER boat and Lave was absolutely miles out, swimming slowly back towards the city. I attempted to scoop him up with the helicopter, but was prevented from doing so (I'm not sure if it's even possible to jump and grab hold of one like you can a boat, or just hit Y and have your character do it) and moments later Dave and Dimrill arrived in a speedboat and collected Lave.

We then tried to see if it was possible to jump into a helicopter from a boat. This didn't seem to be working either, so at someone's suggestion I landed on top of the boat. The added weight started pushing it under, so I took off again. Dimrill yelled 'floor it!' to Dave and so on a whim I wrenched the control stick around and managed to chop Lave into bits with my main rotor as the boat pulled away.

Wheee!

Bah, did I miss this due to beddage? I booted this up the other day, did about three Brucie races and still didn't get the achievement. :(

No, this was in the afternoon about half past three. I'd welcome Dave/Dimrill to tell us how they came to be out at sea...

We also did a lot of jumping over the river, and Glyndwr drove a car and a bike off a ledge and into the rotors of my helicopter.

Yeah... if you haven't done all the stunt jumps yet I'd be happy to show you a few of the trickier ones. You can indeed share a vehicle with multiple other players... I had Gllawen and Lave in my helicopter last night, and you could in theory use one of the city buses to carry a LOT of other players.

The jump in question takes you over the West River from Aldernery to Algonquin. I think it's the longest jump in the game... though the one off the Broker Bridge (through that archway in Chinatown) must be close.

I'll be on from about 3 today probably...

That was awesome, as you hit it just perfectly. I don't think you touched the boat at all, and you missed Dave and Dimrill (sat down) -- you just neatly decapitated Lave.

SnowAngel wrote:

Didn't Dimrill pretend that his boat was broken, provoking Mr Dave to take pity and spend twenty minutes hauling out to him in some slow assed yacht thing, only for Dimrill to say "haha, only joking" and get into his fully functional speedboat?

Aye, and I've gone from the high of being a Doctor to the low of being unemployed, so I was around in the middle of the day. Stinking of beer of and feeling hung over to shit.

Looking up to see a copter about an inch from my face before being flung miles was amazing.

I took a much faster boat to rescue them, but they thought I was behaving untoward. WHAT A CROCK!

Post subject:  Re: GTA IV - Thread of Officialness

Ok, sequence of events : While I was busy trying to drop my body out aof a helicopter to hit you all while you were doing Stunt jumps, Dimrill took his boat to the edge of the world and started shooting at it, ran out of ammo, and asked me to come and rescue him.
I ran to the sea, and took the only boat I could find, which was slow

After I'd been heading out to sea for 10 or so minutes, Lave decided to follow in a much faster boat, and we both reached Dimrill at about the same time.

I told Dimrill that in no uncertain terms, he was getting into my boat, as I'd spent such a long time rescueing him.

I drove off and Dimrill went flying off my boat.

I picked up Dimrill again, and he spent the next while warping around on my boat.

Lave then proceeded to start ramming my boat, I warned him that if he broke my boat, I wasn't picking him up.

Sure enough, he ended up capsising his boat, and we left him in the middle of the ocean, off the map.

Me and Dimrill make it to happiness island and pick up a mich faster boat to go and rescue him.

At about this point, the Gaywood and Perkies arrive in a helicopter, and try to fish him out of the water.

They can't, our boat arrives, picks him up. I ask Dimrill to floor it, so lauchning Lave off the back of the boat. At the same time, Perkies removes Laves head with his helicopter and capsises our boat which fortunately does a full 360, leaving us to get back to land.

Between that and the UTIII Victory Bumming, it was a good day for comedy moments.

Wiki says:
Quote:
Lola Del Rio is a prostitute who appears on promotional artwork and the introduction sequence for the game. In October 2007, her character art was painted on the side of a building in SoHo, New York, advertising the game.

A prostitute by the name of Lola Del Rio can be found in the police database, visiting http://www.libertycitypolice.com. Her profile in the database describes that she was born in San Fierro but moved to Liberty City. It also states that she is often seen sucking a lollipop, and that she hangs around at Star Junction.

Rockstar have confirmed that The Lost and the Damned will cost 1,600 MS points, according to Eurogamer. They've said the content is the equivalent of one–third of the main game's story mode.

It's 'one third' the content of the main game, though. Except you'll already know the map inside out and you just get to follow a new set of waypoints, while riding the crappier bikes available.

Post subject:  Re: GTA IV - Thread of Officialness

GTAIV was just too thin on stuff to do... especially in the wake of San Andreas which will enthrall me for hours every time I turn it on. Simplistic darts/bowling/pool can't compare to the trains, planes, quad bikes, marathons, dancing, stunt racing, hand-to-hand fighting and car customizing that SA gave us. All that remains for me in GTAIV is the flying rats, finishing the game again in under 30 hours, and the multiplayer nonsense.

All this DLC is going to add is another set of play-once-and-then-forget missions. If it had expanded the fun stuff available in Liberty City then I'd be much more interested.
