Just one look at my cats and I laugh. I don't know where they get their expressions from, but here's a couple of peaches.

Punzel with the concerned look..

And the "I think you need a bath" look.

What kind of stuff are you worried about? The good thing about cats is that there's not a lot that needs done; feed them and change out a litter tray and that's about it. The only real issue is getting someone to look after them if you go away anywhere but that's true of any pets of course.

Had to take Sooty in to be spayed today. She's suddenly gone bald over the last 3 days and I correctly identified it as ovarian cysts causing a hormonal imbalance. Cue a day of worry.

I dunno. She's four which is quite old for a pig and anaesthetic is dangerous when they're fit and healthy. :(

Phwahh.... she's come round from the anaesthetic fine but is staying the night at the vets to make sure she's eating.

Got her yesterday, at the start she was shy, so we let her go around most of the house to explore. I kept most of the room doors closed though. She then spent 3 hours sleeping on the stairs, we did think something might be wrong, but she was fine.

I made a bed for her out of an old rugby shirt and she slept in that all night, she also uses the litter tray. I still have to use a syringe to give her some milk first then lift the food bowl up to her mouth after this she gets it and eats from the bowl.

This morning she was full of it, running around everywhere and playing so I guess she has settled in now

You were right my only problem is now finding a decent place for her to stay when we go to a wedding in 3 weeks for the weekend

Sounds like she's doing just fine. :)

However, regarding the wedding in three weeks - not too sure if she should be temporarily 're-homed' for the weekend, seeing as she will still be settling in at your place - it might unsettle her at this early stage. Can't you get someone to stay with her at your home for that weekend?

You honestly wouldn't believe anything's happened to her. She's got a rough patch of skin on her belly about an inch long where they glued her. She's not liking being shut in with Thickett, and watches all the rest of the pigs run around with her front paws on the gate. Not letting her out though lest the others groom her open.

She is 8 weeks old, she does eat from her food bowl as well.

I guess she is lazy and already learning how to play me like a fiddle. She was crying for ages after we went to bed last night so I gave her 4 syringes of milk in the hope she would go to sleep if I filled her up, it worked.

I’ve surprised myself as I wasn’t keen on getting a cat, but now I’m the one that gets out of bed when she cries and its me that its taking a day off for her jabs so I can stay at home is case she is unwell.

Every day now she is more energetic, i go into her at 5.30am and she purs for a bit then runs around like a mental case, when we get home the same thing although she will have sleep between on an evening. She also likes one of use to be visable when she is playing or she will cry.

Here she is first day we had her on the stairs, she slept there for 4 hours

Man, I'd love to get a kitten. We have two full grown cats though and wouldn't get another one unless something happened to one of the cats we've got. Or, maybe, if we ever get a house. Mrs B assures me though that our current cats are those 'immortal' ones you can get that ensure they'll never, ever break your heart and turn you into a useless blubbing wreck by dying on you. I was sceptical, but she said she stipulated that to the Cat's Protection people at the time so fair enough.

AAAWWW sweet, looks like one of ours. black and whites are supposed to be the most openly friendly type according to our vet. cats are best fun, especially when climbing curtains/other certical things. :)

My grumpy, fat, black-and-white cat begs to disagree. Nay, she demands to disagree and doesn't care whether you like it or not because that's just how she rolls.

The last black and white my parents arrived was found under the bonet of a builders car, he was doing work for them and had come 50-60 miles with her in there.

She grew up to be really big, you would mistake her for a Tom Cat, she was odd though, one minute she was all over you then she would growl and hiss and go off and sulk

Loved my middle brother more that anyone else, behaved in a different way with him

Jesus, got home tonight and she was not her normal self

She looked like she had a shock; she was dribbling (which she has never done to date)

I was most shocked by the fact she was facing into the corner of the room, even when she was purring

So I took her around the vets, felt like a right twat in the waiting room as we haven’t bought a carry case yet so I had her in a cooler bag with her bedding in.

The vet could find nothing badly wrong but gave her a pain killer jab, the poor little thing had to have a thermometer stuck up her arse, I mean at her age. No doubt she will remember who was holding her for this.

Looking on the web I think she as ate something, a plant or something on the floor.

Fucking nightmare, I’m more upset and worried than I thought I would be over a cat

Only one thing that she could maybe reach, moved everthing out of the way now to be sure

She is getting better nowm she purred for 30 minutes in her sleep, guess she was stoned on the pain killers the vet gave her!

She slept for 4 hours, then she woke up and was normal again!

I slept on the sofa last night so that she could have somebody around, I was worried that the improvment was due to the jab the vet gave her.

This morning she is fine, her normal mad self running around the house jumping on things etc

Things not looking good again today :(

She was fine this morning at 6am and was due her first vacination.

By 8am she had started to look ill again (the same as Friday), by 9.30 she was really bad, almost fell off a chair as a pose to doing what cats should do and jump off

In the vets she was looking so bad and crying that 2 people let me go in front of them.

Vet has kept her in for tests, but said its not looking good, if she has eaten something bad them you would not expect a 4 day gap in the illness. Vet is thinking liver or other organ issues.

My wife is going away on bussiness today so if the worst happens I'm faced with lying to her until she comes back, if I don't she will go to pieces and not focus on her work.

She needs to do this as she has had some issues with her manager and needs to be at the top of her game workwise

Update is not good, she has got worse and they can't get an IV into her, they are going to try and do it into her bone :(

My wife is always one for the savings so said we didn't need to insure her until she was 12 weeks (saving £10)

The vet said that it was IV and Blood tests for £250 or put her to sleep

There is no way I can look my wife in the eys and say I didn't do everything possible so I paid the money.

I also want to know what is wrong, although its a small chance the thought that she is like this as a result of something she ate in the house is eating away at me

Even really young cats aren't stupid, they won't typically eat things that are harmful, with a few exceptions. What was the houseplant that she could have got at?

There is no signs of any bits etc on the leaves and I don't thing this harms cats

She is a very fussy eater, I even gave her some "cat nip" that I have growing in the garden and she wasn't bothered

No call from the vet as yet so no news is good news I guess for now

Yeah, I doubt the symptoms there are because of anything in the house, so at least you can clear your conscience on that score.

Hope she pulls through OK :(

Yeah, you've got no issues with that plant. I wouldn't be concerned about her having eaten something.
