I would indeed, yes. Is there some sort of internet forum on which you can disseminate your little gems of wisdom and new-found tidbits of knowledge?

The scaling seems fine to me, I'm about a day's play in and having a blast. It's entirely possible to massacre entire settlements at a fairly low level if you're canny about it (and don't feel so bad afterwards that you have to reload things back to the way they were, whimper).

So far, I'm enjoying the VATS system, the superb soundtrack (even if it repeats a bit more than I'd like) and the post-apoc thrill of strolling around a desolate world first-person style. The most oblivion-like hangover is the conversations, which keep the static background and even the zoomy-in intros. Although now it seems even fonder of letting you hold conversations with a slightly-opened door/passerby's shoulder than ever, which grates a bit.

Anyway, I've dawdled too long. Back into the fray, I think :ninja:

I'm now very eager to see if the whole 'go into a new area and it locks to the level you were when you first entered it' thing works as I think it might (so, in theory, if you explored the whole map before doing anything else, it would all be set for level 1 or 2) or if it's more like Gaywood has heard (where it has a set range of levels it could be, and locks to one nearest your level once you do get there).

I'm also now imagining something going stupid and wrong and it not arriving Friday.

I was lead to believe that hte leveling works like so:

A region has a level range like 5-7.

If you enter the region at lvl 1 to 4 you'll fight lvl 5 bad guys.
The levels of the bad guys match you 5 to 7.

But then at level 8 + they'll stick at level 7.

Enough to polsih out having to grind.

IGN post thier Fallout 3 review, then later, completely remove a large paragraph talking specifically about PS3 on-line problems, and change it to shorter paragraph about general bugs (without mentioning any system in particular) with no explanation :

IGN could have written the review based on beta code, and this bug may have been fixed in the shipping version of the game. Nothing too shady there.

Possible, but knowing that many people would have already read the original version of the review, surely the edited version should have contained an explanation for the change ?

Yeah, probably a fair comment. I don't mind when sites edit articles to fix typos etc but for a change of this nature, I agree, a "we changed X to Y because of Z note would be a good idea".

I see. So while there would be an advantage to going to all the regions before doing anything else, it's not as big an advantage.

There is a definite bug in the PS3 version where the game can freeze as you're about to take the G.O.A.T test during the tutorial, but a quick save & reload solves the problem.

Not that I would've noticed it as I simply wouldn't dream of playing the game before you guys! ;)

As Hotmail is blocked at work until noon, I cannot get in to see if I have a dispatch email or not from Gamestation yet. And it seems a bit sad to ring the missus to see if it's come (not least of all so I can be surprised by it when I get home)

IT WOULD MAKE MY FUCKING DAY IF IT HAS COME TODAY, YOU HEAR ME, KARMA GODS?

edit: Nothing in the Hotmail, nothing has arrived at home (yet) either. BOLLOCKS.

I suppose it depends on what reasons you didn't like Oblivion. If you didn't like Patrick Stewart and elves, then perhaps it might be worth a shot. If you didn't like the actual game mechanics, I probably wouldn't bother...
