Heya-just a quicky,

I'm in a tizzy because I have just had the price rise from Npower for the business and it's fooking HUGE! So huge that my eyes nearly came out. I know we use a lot of electric, but the price has doubled for the monthly budget plan! I'm trying to find a site that compares all the prices for me for a business so I can see which would be a better supplier to swap to. I had a look at confused.com-but it confused me :p I can't seem to find one that compares business prices.

This thread can be killed off or whatever when the questions answered for me. Thanks in advance!

You'll probably find that "using less" is the only way to have a lower bill. Good luck though.

Google sez: http://www.ukpower.co.uk/business/

...yeah...it's a business, I can't exactly cut down on production as that would be suicide. I just wondered if there was anything cheaper than Npower at the moment

EDIT: Thanks for the link, just saw your own edit :)

You can't do much about the printers, but in some offices you find half the rooms have a fan heater or two blasting away, all sorts of trendy halogen lighting on all the time, nobody *ever* switches off their monitors or lets their PC suspend..

Do an energy efficiency drive, you'll impress your boss and annoy all your cow-orkers.

It's not the fax and stuff in here with me, everything goes off unless it's in use because I've been cutting back-Jo knows the score aswell. It's the bloody 4-head embroidery machine, the exposure unit upstairs and the 2 dryers/driers we use out the back to cure the ink onto the garments and I can't turn those off as they are in use all the time. Npower have really fucked us over on the price increase because we have cut down as much as we can and I can't see any other way I can decrease the bill, so I'm trying to swap suppliers

Driers as in tumble driers? Those eat electricity for breakfast :(

A gas heated one like you get in launderettes would be much cheaper to run, but then you'd have to buy it first..

No sorry, they are a belt that you put garments down after silk screen printing on them so the ink cures into them. You know, like t-shirts get printed? That's what we do *puffs chest out* we are the best! :D

I forget sometimes that people don't understand what I actually do, even I don't know what I actually do here ;)

Of all people, you probably don't need to do this ;)

I'll try those two tomorrow as I'm at home now. Been searching on the link Kalmar gave me (thanks again) but I think the only problem with the prices I've managed to get (which were very very good in comparison) was that you have to go through the host company to get those cheap prices. It says all about it on the site when you get a quote. It might be best if I sign up for 12 months only and see how it goes, it's so confusing though

Can you not contact nPower and discuss this? Maybe they've got something they can do.

That was the first thing I did, they sent me a letter stating they had to put the prices up because of fluctuation and a whole load of jargon on there. We had a meeting because we are having new terms and conditions for the business and customers. We have had 3 long time customers (bastards) go bump on us and that was a lot of work and money that has gone down the drain so we are trying to desperately control the situation. What really fuck's me off is the wankers pretty much opened for business the next bloody day! Bankrupcy is a sham.

We also have had 2 letters from suppliers cutting our credit down to half because they are having the backlash of things now aswell, this means that the customers on 30 days will have to be brought down to 14 days instead, this doesn't bode well for the bigger companies and honestly I don't know what the hell we are going to do now, it's all happened within a bloody week nearly!

I just hope and pray my new venture I whizzed past is going to go well, otherwise we're pretty much without a paddle.

I've killed the Mac off for artwork and I'm only using this one at the moment. Seriously, there's nothing else I can that I can do and it's so annoying because I really want to cut down as much as possible :(

My shop better work next year, otherwise I will be busking!
