It’s being brought back, certainly, but there’s nothing definite to say it’s a full reboot.
It could well be set in the same continuity as the original.

With a black lead actor? Interesting.

Who Is America? Episode 2 review:

1) first interview - very funny
2) second interview - very funny
3) third interview - stupid and pointless
4) fourth interview - he gets off to a good start and then does his typical Ali G bullshit. Utterly wasted Dick Cheney.
5) fifth scene - why do people just read shit without hearing the words they’re saying? Amusing.
6) Sixth scene - very funny

Overal: Actually good. Who knew!?

I wonder what bit Nathan Fielder wrote of this episode.

Preacher S3: off to a strong start. Not as strong as the Dexy's shootout of S2's opener, but it introduces interesting new characters and backstory for both Jesse and Tulip (which was smartly done). Twisted as ever, plus an interesting shift in dynamic for the group. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

Staircase: Enjoyed this a lot but could have been condensed down by 5 episodes. Charismatic, ego-maniacal lawyer dude, very sad - yet weird - accused husband, and very weird children, added lots of colour to what is effectively a court-procedural.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Still unsure of his guilt or innocence. The documentary is obviously a very unreliable narrator, but the dearth of obvious work to identify another assailant beyond the staircase itself always jarred with me - why isn't Michael trying to find out what happened to his wife? Obviously the issue of being fingered by the state for a crime you didn't commit is going to take up most of your headspace, but he doesn't seem to concerned with finding out what really happened to her. But if he is innocent, it's an appallingly sad 16+ years in the twilight of his life he's had to endure.

Regarding staircase

He absolutely did it, the documentary left a lot out from the court case, such as the question of why his bloody footprint was on the back of her trousers, why was her blood on his front door, why was the blood dry when the paramedics arrived if she had only been gone from the back yard a few minutes and he called 911 as soon as he found her. Why was he on his computer deleting stuff while the paramedics were there trying to revive his wife? Then there is the point that his sons were in money troubles, she had reportedly refused to help them out, he had no money himself, and he was the beneficiary of her life insurance, an insurance she was supposedly about to lose as her company was in trouble and close to going under...

Yeah that doesn't sound promising. Also, you felt like his youngest daughter Martha was still suspicious of his innocence, but needed a final verdict to make up her mind for her.

The punisher was great, really romped along.
Jessica Jones season 2 was ok, it suffered from not really having a proper adversary I think.
Luke cage season 2, I'm on episode 7 and struggling with it, it's just so slow.

I found Season 2 of Jessica Jones unwatchably bad and gave up. Couple of chums were the same.

The Punisher was awesome, roll on Season 2.

I haven't started on Season 2 of Luke Cage although I did enjoy the first season, but there were entire EPISODES of Season 1 they could have excised (one episode in particular did nothing and went nowhere) and the whole thing could have been massively tightened up (and improved) in the edit, and I'm not sure I want to embark on another overly long season.

Interesting extra info on The Staircase.

Also, why aren't we in the Netflix thread? :CONFUSED FACE:

Interesting. I’ve got JJ and LK series 2 to watch, but sounds like the Punisher is the better option.

The Punisher still takes its time but it actually uses the time for some meaningful character development and a story arc, unlike JJ S2 which had an entire episode dedicated to Jessica and her friend going shopping and talking about rubbish. *

Also John Bernthal is a fucking good actor.

Oh yes and when it kicks off it's proper bonkers.

* Slight exaggeration, although there was one episode where I thought to myself afterwards, 'I have no real idea what happened there'.

I love the slow pace of Luke Cage. Makes it a bit different to the rest. Some of the dialogue scenes are incredible.

I am very behind on Marvel TV.

I did just finish The Defenders.

I thought it was a lot of fun. Not as long as the other series, lots of fighting in confined spaces, lots of witty banter, all good.

My favourite is still JJs1 at the moment, but this was somewhere in the mix for second place with DDs1 and LCs1.

It really is. The development of the relationship between Luke and his father has been great. Mariah remains a somewhat one dimensional tede fest but other than that it’s very good TV.

Wait till the end of S2. Her arc from the start of S1 to then is incredible.

The bit with her daughter in ep 9 was good. We’ll see.

Misty is epic ... liked the cameo of lady from Steel Monkey Fisting earlier in the series. They have good chemistry.

It's excellent. Throughout the first series there was a real sense that they weren't sure if what they were doing was any good, S2 is much more self-assured. Like the show in the show, I guess.

Yep, it’s superb. Just watching episode 7 now.

Currently watching S1 and, by God, Brie is superb to watch. The rest of the cast are really good as well.

We finished S2 last night, and it’s looking good for a third. S02E08 was magnificent.

Absolutely brilliant the whole thing. A must watch. Everyone smacks it out of the park.

Finished Luke Cage yesterday morning, it was... alright. Still incredibly slow throughout, I did like the space it had to breath around the relationships, but I found my attention wandering to my phone, which didn't help the immersion. For the last two episodes it was basically background noise while I levelled my Hunter in WoW, ready for the incoming expansion :D. I think I'm fully Marveled out at the moment, which also didn't help keep me engaged.

On the other hand... (looks downward)

I thought it was always one per week for the season run? Or have Netflix taken over and set an expectation there would be a whole season dumped at once? Sorry if I'm going over old ground, don't have the time to keep up with everything these days!

I enjoyed the new episode of Better Call Saul but I could barely remember what was happening with the chicken man and baldy.

What was happening with the chicken man and baldy? Baldy has a job working for that tart for some reason but why?

And why did the young gangsta want to do that thing to the Salamanker guy again?

I need answers.

Isn't it cracking TV?! I really wasn't sure at the start of S1 whether they could do it without being a cringe fest, but it's fantastic.

A good bet is to either watch the recap, or even better (and this is what I do), have a read of the previous season's summary at Wiki. (Before watching the new season, of course.)

Otherwise it's basically impossible to remember where everyone is up to (IME at least).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breaking_Bad_(season_3)#Episodes

Thanks, I’ll have a read.

I thought season 1 of Preacher was God Tier.

Season 2 was a crushing disappointment that I didn’t hate but I didn’t like either.

Season 3 was better than 2 but has had more lows than highs.

Then episode 8 comes around and it gets everything right. I’m going to put this down to the excellent directing of the episode. I saw the guys name and it didn’t ring any bells, but either way he should direct all the episodes from hereon in. It had a well directed fight sequence, it was visually interesting throughout with excellent use of light, colours and all that biz and it also had a groovy heist and darkly humorous Genesis montage. It helped that the story was finally ticking along and some of the moments were funny.

Overall I think season 2 is better than 3 but it’s solidified in my mind that it was the visual flourish and direction that kept me coming back for more in season 1 rather than an absorbing story. It just goes to show you that the continuity of a single director and/or vision makes the best television. Look at Mr Robot, still making bold choices and retaining viewers. Teams of directors and writers tend to water down the process IMO.

So Preacher season 3 - not great - but that last episode was fab.

Disappointed by first episode of Disenchantment.

Hopefully it picks up a bit now that they have set up the premise, but it really seemed to drag. There were a couple of quality jokes, but few and far between IMO.

Will definitely watch a few more though, given the pedigree of the creators.

The pace is just all off, I think. What should be quickfire jokes take ages to pull off. I was constantly just wanting it to hurry along.

There seemed to be a couple of seconds pause after, before and during every joke...

The only thing that made me smile was the throwaway background reference to WoW with the meeting stone at the entrance to the wood.

Apparently the episodes post episode 1 are better, i might give another one a go.

I'm not sure putting "from the creator of the Simpsons" is a good idea considering that hasn't been good now for longer than it actually was good.

The last time I watched The Simpsons I was actually embarrassed for everyone involved. It was genuinely breath-takingly awful.

Hasn't he been not very involved in the Simpsons since the start of Futurama?

Edit: I was thinking of Groening

Isn't it billed as "the creators of the Simpsons"? Big difference, that plural

I switched it off halfway through the second episode. Maybe I was grumpy, but it just wasn’t... anything?

It felt more like a shit drama with occasional jokes than a comedy. And the only good jokes are the ones it throws in offhand, because all the others seem to take about three minutes to painfully set up. It was just boring. Ugh.

I will give it one more chance, just out of my love for Futurama and some of the voice actors.
