Had to take my daughter to school (trip to Thorpe Park) at 04:30 this morning, and was not able to get back to sleep after.

I am going to struggle to stay awake throughout work today!

To school by 4:30?!? Don’t those places open at 10am? Why is the school taking kids to a theme park over five hours away? Yikes.

The school are doing something called "Enrichment week" which is a whole week of fun stuff. My daughter has chosen an adrenaline themed week, yesterday she went to a water park, tomorrow and Friday she goes to local theme parks.

I think they wanted the kids to have a *"good" theme park to go to with proper rollercoasters and so on. The only way to do that is to go to Chessington, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers etc, which are all 100s of miles away from Devon (and I live in nearly Cornwall parts of Devon)

*I make no apologies to fans of Crealy, Woodlands and Flambards

Enrichment week sounds like a fabulous idea. Good on that school!

What other kind of options were there (as well as ‘adrenaline’?)

We went to Alton Towers from Truro on a school trip and that was a 4:30am start. Everywhere is hours away of you live to the west of Exeter (90 mins from Truro) there's no motorway past that city. What a day though.

The guy who picked the pictures for that article seems unaware of Keith's demise

I ordered boiler oil for the first time in over a year. Even though prices are "creeping down" according to the guy who runs the syndicate, it's still 84.9p/litre - so 1000 is going to be £850.

Oof!

That's more than double last year, which was already the highest in the 4 years we'd been using oil by that point.

However we've used less than 1000 litres in 13 months, which is more than a 33% improvement from the old boiler with hot water tank, so that's something at least.

Realised I'd been getting estimated water bills for the past two years so finally got round to checking the meter myself. The good news is that the estimates were way out. The bad news is that they were massive underestimates (as checking the bill based on an actual reading suggested). Ouch.

We're currently overpaying our leccy and gas by about £90 a month (we pay £207 a month). Ordinarily I would call them up and sort it out, but it doesn't feel like a terrible thing to do right now, as the upcoming fuel apolcalypse won't hit quite as hard in October.

Guess who booked tickets to England's appearance in the final of the Women's Euro's at Wembley, back about 15 months ago? Guess who also ended up with a wedding booked this weekend and gave them to a cousin, about 14months ago?

Stupid relatives getting married.

Are you sure? Bear in mind you _could_ get a Warlord Titan instead. Like Dave. He has a little balcony on his back with a man standing on it.

My work have just given me the full itinerary and details of next week's trip to Las Vegas... it all sounds incredibly exciting, but I'm likely going to be dead from exhaustion by the time I get back to the airport.
