So I need some video editing software to fix the audio on the video clips that my new phone takes.

PC Pro says the software to get is Sony's Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Production Suite.

Being the impatient sort I of course want to buy it online and start using it ASAP, but even I can't tolerate this sort of butcherous gouging.

Ebuyer it is then.

They're just the unread ones! I have been using gmail for a long time though.

The unread stuff tends to be mailshots from places like dabs or ebuyer, or auto-notifications from forums and stuff like that.

I'm a dreadful hoarder and hate to delete things, I have viable My Documents backups going back to 1999, and my mailbox at work goes back to 2004.

50 years?! I think I've had my gmail since 2004 and nothing is unread.

But then as obsessive as you are with hoarding, I am with 'reading'. Do you use folders?

Folders are for wimps, I just search for keywords, I have a nack of remembering a couple of 'rare' keywords to quickly locate emails from years ago.

I have 700+ unread PMs in my Ravelry inbox. I cleared about 2,000 off a couple of months ago.

I archive my Gmail emails on the 1st January every year. It's a nice thing to do, so you start with an empty inbox for a new year. You can still access the old emails of course.

Unless I'm replying to them, I archive things as soon as I've read them (unless it's shipping confirmation, then I archive it when the item arrives).

What's wrong with you lot?

Yes they are. Archived simply means "not in your inbox". Any other labels they have remain attached.

To be even more technically correct, Gmail doesn't have folders. It has labels. In normal email, a mail can only be in a single folder; but it can have any number of tags applies.

Thinking about it, we use Outlook connected to Gmail at work (well, I just use the web client), and that turns the labels into folders, and I'm fairly sure it puts one email into two folders.

I WILL INVESTIGATE. ON MONDAY.

It's not folders. It's labels on the backend, presented as folders through an IMAP façade. That's why it can do it. No other mail server I've worked with works this way.

@Malc: four emails in four folders (that happen to be identical) isn't at all the same as one email with four labels. Simply delete one email to prove this.

Ah yes, digital content is expensive!

Anyone who has had a look on the PSN or Xbox 360 stores has known that for six years!

Works for me, and I know it's not the same, but I don't delete emails at work ( and only delete spam on my personal email)

But seriously, I'll bite. And I don't necessarily disagree with you here - I'm a regular purchaser of both digital and physical stuff - whichever is more convenient at the time being the deciding factor over price usually. What are your reasons for it being better?

I don't do any sorting or archiving. Search always finds what I want.

Also, I invariably use digital distribution where possible - because I usually want something ASAP.

Convenience, mainly. Speed of delivery, too.
Take Steam, for example - no discs to find, all my games in a nice list, and moving to a new PC is no longer the ball-ache that it was. Torrented films take up no physical space, and are ready to play on pretty much every device I want to watch them on - more than one at once if I feel like it. Spotify lets me listen to the music I like at home, at work, in my car and on my phone with practically zero hassle. And, you know, Kindle.

Can you even imagine buying mobile apps on physical media and having to plug the appropriate card into your phone each time you wanted to use them?

Hush you.
Going further outside the box (pun!) digital delivery includes email, and even this forum.

I'm down with all that, but would you pay £80 for a digital download of something that ebuyer will deliver to your door on a DVD for £30?

I've said many times here that I love the 'all digital' world, but sometimes you get a glimpse of the 'all digital future' and realise that they're just getting ready to REALLY fucking shaft you....

Nah, I wouldn't pay that much.
And I agree about the future - especially if you can only buy the product from the one supplier.

There are definitely exceptions, such as this example.

The problem with stuff like what you posted in the OP, I think, is as simple as "we can't be arsed to lower the price". I imagine they make most of their sales from physical copies, but offer a digital edition to tick a box, but whilst the physical copy has fallen in price since it came out, the digital copy is forgotten about an remains at its original price. It's sloppy from Sony and I think they'll either catch on or have to pay the price of being left behind.

Steam shows that people are into digital distribution if the price is right.
