Really, really slowly, though. I didn't know about dragging with two fingers, but I've tried and it's much quicker, if a little more awkward.

Two-finger drag doesn't work for me.

Tapatalk seems much improved over the version I tried ages ago. Spoilers obviously don't work, mind, which is a bit of an arse.

Superb. I think I actually prefer browsing on this than on the actual forum on a PC. Now it's fixed, it's easier to reply too. Good work!

It's actually quite good now, isn't it. My only real complaint is that refreshing is a bit of a chore, being hidden in a menu.

Yes! Ideally it needs a quick refresh button, or shake to refresh or something. Still less faff than using the browser though.

Pro-tip: switch on jump to last page and latest message and stuff, in the settings.

Fortunately, everything on Android has a demo version.

I can only imagine it's very different on an iPhone.

It's not a proper demo - if you uninstall something on Android within 24 hours of buying it it refunds you the money.

Did the app used to be free, then, or had I actually taken a punt some time ago? I certainly didn't have to pay for it just now.

Although:
1) it doesn't jump to last-unread, it jumps to last-post-in-thread
2) profiles don't work (not important) and neither do PMs (grrr)

Is that everyone or just me?

The Android version was making a lot of noise about the fact it had push notification of PMs, something I might keep it for.

Yeah PMs still not working.

I prefer the "jump to most recent" action, but if you clock on the "forum" view rather than "latest", it will give you last read.

The jumping isn't reliable from my brief tests now. Sometimes it gets it right, but other times will jump to the last post on the page, even if you've read it already and a new page has been started.

But then I've never had the mobile site be particularly accurate in this regard either.

Huh. Maybe it's an iPhone browser thing.

Uhh, are you sure? Loading the Ashes thread, which I hadn't previously opened, it scrolled me down to the end.

It often seems to jump to the hashtag anchor before it's figured out the proper page height, then jumps around while things load, and ends up nowhere near where it's supposed to be. Then sometimes it'll do as above, but then snap back to where it should be, which is particularly annoying if you've already started reading and scrolling as the page loads.

Hmm, maybe not. Have you had a play with those settings - "scroll to latest" etc?

I'd love to love Tapatalk, but I just can't get on with jumping to the last post and navigating backward each time. The settings section says this only works on some board software, and I'd imagine phpbb would be one of them, but who knows; maybe the forum plugin doesn't support it. It could, however, just be an app bug.

Aside from that, it's almost perfect, but the above is a major shortcoming.

Yeah your;e right it doesn't work properly does it. I've kind of got used to "jump to the last post and scroll back a bit if needed" though.

However it is being fixed, apparently it already works on Andoid.

Latest from the forum (1st of this month) was:

Quote:
Coming soon

the feature is finished and the new version pending on apple approval.

So, 'yay' I think.

Oh, good. I'll keep an eye out for it, as surely it must be near approval soon.

The jump-to-last-post-then-backtrack approach only works if you're reading the forum a lot. If you take any kind of break, or you dare to visit fast-moving threads, it very much gets in the way.

Interestingly despite the timing, that doesn't appear to be an OS 4.2 thing - it's the same on my HD7, which is a Trident rendering engine, not Webkit/Gecko.

Because this forum has more plug-ins than a Glade air freshener, you "clever"-phone people can now try Forum Runner. The forum to search for is Beex.

This appears to be the best of the three apps we've tried so far. It's £1.19, there's a free demo, and it has an iPad version (as part of the same purchse). Go-to-unread seems to work.

Well, I dislike it, if that helps :)

It seems to be quite different on Android and iPhone. And you can see "ignored" people.

This is, indeed, quite good. The free version seems to be a reader only, but a brief test (last unread post works!) and I bought it immediately.

Tapatalk was crashing too regularly, and they still haven't bothered to answer Kalmar's question on their forum. Bye bye!

Searching, PMs and possibly some other features don't work, mind. I get the feeling writing an app to parse forums isn't an easy task.
