I'm lazy and stupid so I just went into GAME in Derby to pick it up. I've got some cash on the reward cards plus I was trading in Resistance 3 which they did for £30 which I thought was good. Turned out I didn't need to spend anything. Anyway, Gears was £39 and they gave everyone 400msp for free so I was happy enough.

They had loads of copies and I didn't see anyone else buying a copy. I just don't know where the public interest has gone for Gears. Oh I do, it's all MW now.

Worst instruction booklet ever. A diagram of the controller and three lines which tell the 'story so far'. Pathetic. I expect a little bit more inside the box of the Conclusion To The Most Celebrated Trilogy In Videogame History. And not these bleeding stickers either. Why are there STICKERS in an Eighteen Rated game FFS?

If you want something to read with a game these days you have to buy the £150 Gullible Spaz Edition that comes with a book and a Sculpted Soap McTavish Head or some bollocks.

I'm interested, and gullible. How many bollocks exactly?

Aye, these aren't real bollocks though, they're just in-game bollocks, you'll need to type in a code.

Got this for £17 after getting rid of Deus Ex. Nobody was in Game, but it's a tuesday afternoon so why would they be?

Would have gone to Tesco, but I'd never use the points, and they don't do trade-ins here.

I sold all my spare games to Music Magpie... maybe I could trade in APOD's copy of Portal 2...

QUESTION - If I were to log on tonight at 10pm, looking to play the campaign with one or more others, starting from the beginning, would I find anyone to do this, or would you all be ploughing through your own play-throughs?

I'll be more than up for that if the big Tesco still has it on my way home.

Groovy.

I'll aim for 10pm. Might be earlier or later, depending on when the baby decides to sleep.

"Readin is for fags! Fuck people in the face with big gun barrell! Buy, shoot, fuck, tits, football! 10/10"

I just thought it was an odd choice for a quote. Thinking about it though it probably isn't given who this game might appeal to (e.g. I'm thinking core gamers and early twenties).

I went to GameFest at the NEC on Sunday and the queue’s to have a play on games were all massive.... The biggest being the queue to have your picture taken with a generic “Nuts girl”

I don’t get it.

God no. I expect Dimrill, Mr Dave, Perkies and me will have got about halfway through the campaggen by then.

Dimrill will already have finished it and will spend the playthrough telling you what is about to happen next. :D

IMO, the less packaging there is, the better for the environment. It does say 'go to this link for the full manual', after all. If you wanted pointless padding, you should have bought the SUCKA edition.

I posted the link from the instructions. I must be one of the few then that likes to open the box and read the instructions. It's a ritual I've kept ever since I first started playing games.

Plus I expect a little more for my spondoolies especially for almost forty quid. And I'm not interested in a load of old tat just something to show a bit of TLC has gone into the box

It's all part of the pleasure of owning physical media.

I have never got excited about a standard Xbox 360 case with a disc and flimsy manual inside.

Something unique like a Ltd Ed or something with special packaging, I can understand, but the above is just a delivery mechanism to get me the game, the same way XBLA is for a downloadable title.

Amazon delivered my copy this morning. I have houseguests though, so it won't see the inside of my Xbox until the weekend.

I am interested in co-op buddies.

I'm with you there. I too like looking through instruction manuals, and like having a little bit of info in there (a small backstory, controller info, some nice pictures). I can live without blank pages for 'notes' though.

Controller info ON THE BACK OF THE MANUAL, PLEASE. And not a line coming out of the A button with "A" at the other end and a table at the bottom - if A is jump, the line has to go to the word jump.

Anyway, GoW 3 - having played the first level or two of the first one only*, can anyone tell me if this particularly different, or does the series evolve slightly in terms of weaponry and avatar control a la Halo from game to game?

* Got a habit of starting multiplayer run throughs with people who have bad internet connections, or are shit, or I'm too pissed to play properly, or something else comes out, and so on. I know it's probably totally acebest.

It's more of the same, but it's excellent. Stomped through a few levels of Campaggen with Pundy (and some standard issue 12 year old from Alabama). Looking forward to HORDE.

Too much time travel in this story. I can't believe Marcus Fenix turns out to be his own Dad.

Three screaming elmoes in my ear probably doesn't help me to understand what's going on. :D

Stupid City of London. 4 Tesco branches, no copies, and the only branch of Game has recently been turned into a suit shop, next door to three suit shops in each direction.

Just buy a suit. It would probably be more fun than another GoW game anyway.
