It's all over. All that's left to do is to reveal the people behind each of the songs in the final, and by extension, the BIG WINNER. Sheepeh (KISS - God Gave Rock And Roll To You) 53.3% Zardoz (The Stooges - I Wanna Be Your Dog) 46.7% Which means: ALL SALUTE THE INAUGURAL BETEO SONG WARLORD SHEEPEH. And an especially conciliatory doff of the cap to runner-up Zardoz for making it such a closely fought final. Remember Zardoz, if Sheepeh is unable to fulfil his duties as Song Wars Champion, you'll be expected to take over, just like with Miss World. Although there aren't any actual duties involved, so this is admittedly unlikely. It has been a long and interesting musical journey, taking wee-stops at a total of 273 different songs along the way. Namely... (spoilertagged for convenience) ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view! So, just for fun, what have been your Top Three Songs Wars Songs That You Didn't Know You Liked Until The Song Wars? For me: The Saints - Know Your Product Richard Harris - MacArthur Park Those Dancing Days - Hitten |

Thanks Dr G, appreciated. STAT UPDATE: From the songs chosen by the participants, the most popular acts were slightly unlikely coupling of The Prodigy and Weird Al Yankovic, clocking up three selections apiece. A further thirteen acts were chosen twice, namely Queen, Otis Redding, Blink 182, John Cale, Pulp, Roy Orbison, Depeche Mode, The Beatles, The Flaming Lips, Nightmares on Wax, They Might Be Giants, Orbital and Tom Waits. From the 'main' ten weeks of voting, the twenty (or twenty-three, because of the way it worked out) most popular songs were as follows: 1. The Breeders - Cannonball (46 votes) 2. Those Dancing Days - Hitten (45 votes) 3. Joey Ramone - What a Wonderful World (44 votes) =4. The Housemartins - Happy Hour (43 votes) =4. The Bangles - Hazy Shade Of Winter (43 votes) =4. Nouvelle Vague - Too Drunk To Fuck (43 votes) =7. Motorhead - Ace of Spades (41 votes) =7. Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (41 votes) =9. Beach Boys - California Dreamin' (39 votes) =9. Electric Six - Radio Ga Ga (39 votes) 11. The Flaming Lips - Nobody Told Me? (37 votes) 12. Terrance & Philip - Uncle Fucker (36 votes) =13. The Saints - Know Your Product (35 votes) =13. Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out) (35 votes) =13. Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode (35 votes) =13. White Town - Your Woman (35 votes) =17. Wonder Stuff - Size Of A Cow (33 votes) =17. Dinosaur Jr - Just Like Heaven (33 votes) =17. Jonathan Coulton - Baby Got Back (33 votes) =17. Lemon Demon - The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny (33 votes) =17. Mike Harding - Dangermouse Theme (33 votes) =17. Saint Etienne & Tim Burgess - I Was Born on Christmas Day (33 votes) =17. Martha & the Vandellas - Nowhere to Run (33 votes) Meanwhile, the least popular songs were as follows: =249. Billie - Because We Want To (5 votes) =249. Hazekiah Jenkins - The Panic is On (5 votes) =249. Chris Rea - Nothing to Fear (5 votes) =249. Tullycraft - Twee (5 votes) =253. Jon Anderson - Do You Want to Be a Hero? (4 votes) =253. Deerhoof- The Eyebright Bugler (4 votes) =253. Fall Out Boy - Beat It (4 votes) =256. Toby Keith - Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American) (3 votes) =256. The Flight Commander - It's Christmas Again (3 votes) =256. The Lancashire Hotpots - Christmas in Lancashire (3 votes) =256. Depon Eye - Out 'Till 3 (3 votes) 260. The Hoax - High Expectations (2 votes) Of those, only two were deliberately bad songs I'd picked on behalf of abstainers. And some were quite good, although to be fair at least some of the songs in that list are merely there because they were in an especially competitive group. Right that's that enough analysis for now. |

Top work in organising, MarkX, and top work in winning, Sheepeh. I would of course like to point out that since I won week 6 with God Gave Rock And Roll To You, this means that technically I also won, by my own interpretation of the rules. |

So it's been proven once and for all that Sheepeh has the most pathetic and boring mainstream taste! Me, bitter? Nah. Well done Sheepeh! |

Unlucky Zardoz, congratulations Sheeps and big big thanks to The Internet's Famous MarkX for the frankly boggling amount of effort that must have gone into keeping the competition running over the last three months. I'm pleased with having two songs in the top 20, particularly since one of them was by a French Bossa Nova combo. |

To be fair, whenever I posted something non-mainstream, Machinae Supremacy or Lucky Boy's Confusion, I got piss all votes. So mainstream songs it was |

Song Wars made me buy an album by The Presets. Unfortunately the rest of the album didn't match up to the song wars song. Also I'm considering looking for stuff by Belong as they were awesome as well. |

Cheers, all. Song Wars 2.0 is delayed for retooling, but will probably happen at some undetermined point in the future. My original aim was for people to nominate songs that other people possibly won't have heard before, but ended up with people picking well-known tracks to garner more votes. I'm not complaining about this (I've almost certainly done the same thing myself at various points, and all's fair in love and song war), but I'm certainly trying to think of a way relatively obscure tracks are 'rewarded' somehow. The song that attained the lowest UK chart position (via the ace ChartStats.com) gets a ten vote head start? Any songs never released as singles to get double votes? Not likely (the whole thing took up enough of my time as it was), but we'll see. Basically, I'm aiming for a sort of Song Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. |
