Oooh, whoever chose Hazy Shade of Winter made a darned good call.

Where's the love for the brilliant Stereo Total track? Some pretty good songs here though. Perhaps helped by being covers. Group A was the bestest last time anyway. We're clearly the kings of music.

Mark X can't spell special. *points and laughs*

Correction: "Mark X doesn't look at things he is copying and pasting, and can't be bothered using Firefox's inline spell checking."

Be fair, it was four in the bloody morning when I put those lists up!

I don't usually 'do' smilies, but :this: . Group A is generally the bestest all round, anyway.

I wonder if there's some sort of not-that-complicated way we could find out the Best Group. Maybe wait until the end of the group stage, pick the four most-voted-for tracks from each, and get people to vote on the best Song Wars Group EP? It could be like the World Club Championship of the Song Wars.

Will there be graphs at the end of the competition?

Technically, it's Group B that is the best, even with NervousPete abstaining from week one. The mighty Group A will win through in the end, though.

(Note: I had all that info already to hand from compiling the results - I'm not quite demented enough to do all that just for the sake of a cheap, erm, graph.)

how does group A not have vote total thats a multiple of 3? has someone been doing strategic voting?

Post subject:  Re: Week Two Voting: Group A

Good point. Maybe some people only used their '3 point' and '2 point' votes.

Some very strong stuff, apart from that Stereo Total track which annoyed me.

Good as it is, would love to have heard Johnny Cash do that Comedians song.

It is divisible by three. 114÷6 (number of points awarded in each set of three votes) = 19. Maybe you were looking when someone was in the middle of choosing their songs?

But why would they do that? They then don't get to see the results.

Who knows? Distracted by their kettle having boiled? Their internet connection failing at an inopportune moment? Being attacked by a gaggle of geese before placing their final vote? Such is the mysterious way of the forum lurker.

It was because people were creating new accounts just to vote their own songs higher I'll bet you!

This was a runner up in my choice of cover song

Post subject:  Re: Week Two Voting: Group A

I've just discovered this excellent cover version. I'll put it here, because I suspect hardly anyone would vote for it if I used it in the Song Wars proper. Personally, I feel compelled to dance around the room like a big berk whilst listening to it.

Günter Noris - Zabadak (originally by, as far as I can tell, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. I only really know it from Bang Bang, It's Reeves and Mortimer)

Hmm. I can't get the beex song player to work at the minute. That's a shame.

It's working now. Not my cup of tea. Rather old Eurovision style kind of thing isn't it?

It is. Maybe it's sounds better when you imagine Vic and Bob slamming car doors against immovable objects in time with it.

Is that the one where they drive to the woods and get their car trapped between two trees? That sketch is probably my all time favourite.

"It's sounds better"? Poor show, me. Yes, it is that sketch. That sketch also used "There's Something Going On" by Babybird, which is also excellent.
