It's a lot more work because you need to read the adventure, prep encounters, make notes on all the important locations and NPCs and try to find interesting hooks for players but in trade off you get to play lots of different characters ... |

... and to track hit points and effects, although if you are using DnDBeyond you can track these on there. I'm the type of player who makes loads of notes though so I always have a pencil and paper when I'm playing to write down places of interest, people we meet etc. |
