What is the ‘60’ referring to?

No idea.. it's a new one for that box, though
Thanks, Kov and Malc. It was the width of the Wirral, twice.

The worst part was running past the end of my road knowing there was still five miles to go.

And not taking any water with me was sub optimal. A mermaid statue winking at me was nice though
I've joined a local cricket team, hoping that I'll get a little bit of exercise at least. However, it does seem mostly to be a drinking club with a cricket team attached, so I'm not convinced it'll help on the fitness front.
22 miles done. Stopped for a wee twice and at an ice cream van for some water!

The next page on my training plan had better say "rest day".

Edit: tuesday is intervals.

Here's a picture of Hilbre Island with north Wales.in the background, me at the end, and actual action footage?

I remember when my drinking team had a football problem.
Yesterday I managed to get my 10 year old out and about, as he's a bit lazy and is soon to start playing football again, on a bigger pitch (but not quite full size) in the next couple of weeks.

We only had to go about 2.6km, so really not far compared to any actual runners... and we did a mix of walking and running, but it was a good start that I hope to build on; and an eye opener for him that despite what he thinks, an unfit 42 year old can still go faster and further than he can*. And also another lesson - if he moans less and does more, he'll cover distance easily. I hope that this bit of a challenge pushes him on to be more active and push on past me.

*yes I did think about the competitive dad sketch in fast show and I'm not usually like that.
Really difficult to get that balance right - I see it a lot at parkrun juniors (2km), where lots of kids run with a smile on their face, but some love it one week and not the next, some do a lap and are aghast at doing another and all the shades of meltdown you might expect. Every parent's doing their best, and I've never seen a really competitive "COME ON!" style, though some seem a bit too pleased at the relative success. Anyway, it's lovely. Chances are there isn't one near you (there are only a few in major cities, none at all in WA), but if there is I thoroughly recommend it. The fun and motivation of an organised event, but totally fine if people want to walk it, do a lap and stop there, or whatever.
I think it also helped that we had a 'purpose' - ie we were going to get my car, as I'd left it outside a friends house the night before.

I quite enjoyed it, I don't move enough in day to day so hopefully we might be able to build some momentum to keep it going. I tried at the end of last year but it fizzled out when my mum came to visit. I'm very bad for finding a lame excuse to stop. Always have been.
I have started tracking my activity on Strava, and I'm quite surprised (and pleased) to learn that this morning I broke the "walking 50 miles in one month" barrier.

TBF I've been the "COME ON" parent at junior parkrun. Not competitively though, just in a "if you stop fucking whining you'll get to the end and we can get out of the cold" way. :DD (Begs the question why they want to do it when they whinge so much but there we go)

That is a great distance.

Thanks dude. I'm already at nearly 15 miles of walking for April, so unless something horrific happens I should smash March's total easily.
Excellent Work Gaz!

I've not been able to get the steps in anyway near as much as I would like as I've had some weird groin strain/lower back pain thing going on along with having a couple of bouts of illness which kept me off work (and walking), so I'm playing catch up.

I did manage a walk yesterday after work, but my tracker decided to pause itself for half an hour during it, which is more annoying than it should be.

Any way keep up the good walk!

That is awesome..
43 miles done in April so far. Not including my incidental mileage that I clock up while not actively tracking.
I didn't realise you ever stopped tracking ;)
Marathon done. That was A Thing.
Good work, Sir
This was the plan, but I said at 12k "two minutes ahead is fine", at 22k "3 minutes is fine", 32k "5 ahead is too much" and then the man with the hammer jumped out and have me cramp for six miles.
Plus side: I had a plan.
Minus side: I ignored it.
That is amazing. Well done Sir..
Awesome work Mali! Is this the first of many or did you just want to tick it off the list?
Congratulations! As your reward, you get to spend today walking like this little chap, who I was watching at some of the very moments you were exerting yourself.

Today, it's not an experience I can see myself repeating. The training for it is long and dull, and the race itself is bloody long and emotionally stressful.

So, yeah, probably, I reckon I can go faster.
Nice one dude, what was your finishing time in the end?
Thanks, all, btw. Hardest thing I have done. Felt like Cavendish through the Alps at the end.
Should've got a stomp on and done some thrilling heroics

Doesn't it feel great crossing that line.. The crowds at the end were brilliant.

I've sent you the clip of me crossing the line and how happy I was.

This sounds familiar :DD

Well done dude, great work.
Cheers thank you.

Also, oops.

Me too
I've entered Manchester 2024.
I walked up a big hill today for a meeting.

And back down it after the meeting was finished.
Did the meeting perhaps consist of 10,001 people?
It's weird you should say that.. I was quite surprised when I saw them all half way there and they couldn't quite decide if they were half way up the hill, or half way down it.

It's been an odd day.
Was the guy running the meeting a raging paedo who, despite the long climb, didn’t break a sweat? Because if so, I think this has a precedent.

That is a fabrun.. I was tempted
89.1 tracked miles walked so far in April, well on target to hit my goal of 100 by the end of the month.

Plus I did a (very shoddy) 5K run too -- although calling it a "run" is a bit of a misnomer, I easily spent at least half of the moving time walking.
That is great going..
yeah, that's an amazing effort!

I was hoping to be somewhere near that, but I am finding that I am taking much longer than I would like to recover from my walks at the moment.
Super, just crossed the 100 mile mark with a couple of days to spare!
Final total for April was 105.4 miles, which leaves me comfortably above the 100 miles of walking if you take out the 3.2 mile run.

As if to give me a stern telling off for even attempting it though, my legs are absolutely killing me today. And I took it much easier in the last few days.
Finally managed to run a 5K parkrun without any walking breaks this morning!

Fantabulous! Happy parkrun day.

that is awesome
Finished Telford parkrun again, this time knocking over 2 minutes off last week’s time, even though I had to walk for a tenth of a mile because my knee gave way a bit.
