Things you don't like
as much as everyone else
Reply
Here is a list of stuff I dislike that everyone else seems to love, in no particular order:

Monty Python
Star Wars
Mario Galaxy
Lost
The Zelda games

What's on your list?

(Disclaimer - I don't actually dislike Star Wars, but I found it merely 'okay', which is far less than everyone else in the whole world, it seems)
Battlestar Galactica
Harry Potter
Booze

Bah, missed that one from my list.
You don't like BSG?
Eddie Izzard.
The Mighty Boosh
The Simpsons
Expensive restaurants
Going on holiday to sit on a beach
The one thing that springs to mind is Curb Your Enthusiasm. I just don't get it.

Also Deus Ex.

Oh, and "good" whisky. I went through a phase of reading about whisky, trying different kinds, attempting to savor all the different tastes and whatnot, but in the end I came to the conclusion that my tastebuds just like bog standard Jack Daniels more than anything else in that vein. Good for the wallet, not so good for being cool and sophisticated.
Shaun of the Dead
Harry Potter

This! And posh food in general!

Oh God, this!

Same for me but also "good" wine for much the same reasons.
Harry fucking cunting potter.

I've never found a wine I've enjoyed drinking. Ever. So I don't anymore. I just don't like the stuff.

What about going on holiday to swim in a lovely sea by a beach? I love swimming in the sea. Very much. I'm perfectly happy to do it for ours on end. Provided it's warm, mind. Hence - beach holiday in Greece/Turkey/South of France etc.
I went to spain once with 3 other lads, and all they wanted to do all day was sit on the beach. By the end of the first week I was bored stiff, and after that I was counting down the days I could go home and do something else.
Jaffa Cakes.

Nightclubs.

Scrubs (or, more precisely, the lead. Something about him just makes me recoil from the screen whenever I see his face - I really don't know what it is)

Be aware that if anyone says Bill & Ted THERE WILL BE BANNINGS!

I also don't like beach holidays. Reasons:

1) I hate sand. Sand is evil. It gets.... everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

2) Being incredibly fat I don't like getting half-naked in front of people. (Though, to be fair, I probably like it more than they do.)

3) I'm a bit scared of fish. And the sea has those in it. Not really phobic, but I get a bit wussy if I get too close to one.

's'alright. I don't like it as much as everyone else. I'd prefer it if I didn't think every single character was an irredeemable wanker.

Oh yeah I'm into that, for a bit but not for the whole time, I'd be the one off looking at ruins and stuff.

Oh, quite. Just sitting on the beach in the sun getting a suntanhorribly burnt is dull as. You may as well do that in your garden at home.

I also like the ruins and the whatnot, as well. Swimming all day every day would be a bit much.

I'll dig out the photos at some point, but we went to this awesome deserted town near Oludeniz (sp?) in Turkey. Used to be inhabited by Greeks, but they all got driven out, and then there was an earthquake. It's totally, totally cool.

I weep for the the both of you. Both me and Uncle Monty.

I love the different tastes of wine and single malt whiskey - and the quality leap from say the icky Bells, to the perfectly okay Jack Daniels through to the utterly amazing Ardbeg or Old Pulteney or Talisker is massive.

I don't like as much:

The Office UK
Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd
The Goonies (it's okay I guess)
Only Fools & Horses
Big Train (it has great moments, not enough of them)
The Spiderpig joke
Marmite
Peanut butter
Overly busy pubs

I'm not very good at this, sorry.
nervouspete wrote:

Gah, forgot about this one, too.
And the Royle Family.
nervouspete wrote:

With you on that one. Standing up all night really fucks me off, it's bad enough on a train when you don't have a choice but in a pub I'd sooner just go elsewhere.
Only Fools and Horses
Pub Crawls
Aruguing on t'interwebs.

Drinking for the sake of drinking, and talking about it as if it's the bestest thing ever.

Obscure music.

Rugby.

I don't know anyone who likes it, it's just that I don't like it as much as the people who do.

Stop sticking up for it!

No
Yes

Also: Ribena
I'm with everyone who says nightclubs / crowded pubs, especially crowded pubs with music blasting out.

Also:
The English Patient
Pineapple
Soap Operas
Chris Moyles
Star Wars (I like 'A New Hope', and that's it)
Mayonnaise
Millk, butter, margarine
New Order
Ribena (or anything with blackcurrant or blackberry in)

Things I don't particularly like but abide, can appreciate, yet which everyone else thinks are awesome:
Radio
Booze
Cars
Television
Chocolate

Things that people need to shut the fuck up about:
Pointing out that they'd much rather read a book than watching/playing something. Insufferable twats.

Things you did like when others didn't but now don't like:
St('That's enough things' - Ed.)
Beer/Lager - just don't much like the taste, can't drink much before I feel sick because of mouth-feelings, rather than drunkeness.

"Lad's Nights Out" - Keep getting invited out to the pub by my manager and accepting then remembering a night out with the pub with him and his mates isn't considered complete until you chuck up, pass out, and don't remember how you get home. NO.

Massively crowded places (any!) - I get REALLY stressed in anywhere I can't sit peacefully and chill out if I need to which rules out going to many concerts and things for bands I actually like - noone understands quite why I don't go as I'm free and have the money, but deem my personal mental health is more important than hearing a live rendition of something I own on CD.

Yep, I'm a grumpy fucker, I just stay in and play Live with my Bezzie Mates. Although my girlfriend, apart from buying me Guitar Hero 3 for Christmas because I said it was too expensive, will happily drag me out and go to the bar for me as long as I do it every now and then. My girlfriend is ACEBEST.
You should invite her onto here, she sounds nice.
Is that a joke, or are you being serious, chap?

Her username is Shewolf ;)
Good name. By the way, with you on most of those things, especially crowded places. My 11 hour transatlantic flights were the closest I think I've ever come to just completely Losing It And Going Mental With Blood Everywhere - and really, my flight was uneventful.
Big props for:

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Crowded Pubs
Chris Moyles (does ANYONE like him?)
Lager/Beer - ICK to the power of YUCK

I'd also add:

Realistic driving games
Star Trek: Voyager
Hot days
Myoptika
