So how much do you think your going to spend on gaming in 2017

Are you going to enter the next generation with a PS4 (pro) / Xbox One (two) or Nintendo's new Switch console ?

Are there big games you are going to grab on day 1 - or will you wait for the magic £20 mark ?

Post your estimate here and try and keep track of just how much money you are throwing away when instead you could be outside !

Post your prices inside <> symbols and Grim...'s magic tracker will total everything up for you : http://www.beexcellenttoeachother.com/c ... sh2017.php (*)

You can also put negative values in if you've sold items back

(**) yes I have
I think I'll either spend a little or a lot, with no middle ground; the main factor being VR. It's something I want to get into, but it's a cost I can't justify right now, so if I can get myself more financially stable, I might treat myself to a new PC and VR setup, or just get a PS4 and VR for that instead.

If none of that happens, I'll just buy the usual cheap Steam stuff instead. Speaking of which -
<7.49> Rocksmith 2014 Remastered.
I'm not spending three fucking grand.
Yes in a similar fashion to you devilman I think it'll be a big spend or a little spend, the delineating factor in my case being buying a new PC or not buying a new PC.

Without a new PC I'm saying £400-500, with a new PC it's going to be £2500+ as the PC alone will be a couple of grand.

As last year I can't see a console purchase happening, even with the more powerful iterations of the PS4/XBone coming on stream, and I don't like VR at all so that won't be happening.

I don't think a new PC is a dead cert at all, or indeed even probable, as such I'm going to vote for £400-£600. (Last year I went for £300-£400 and that was a little on the low side as I ended up at £510.)

I'll update the thread this year too.

You should come to the cottage and see if you feel it's worth the outlay.

I think VR is a 'when' not an 'if' for me. Just a case of affording it and deciding which one to get. Good attempt to get me to the cottage though ;)

Not convinced by what's been revealed so far, but if it gets worthwhile exclusive games I'd certainly consider it.

Definitely a far more interesting proposition than any past, present or future iterations of PS4 or XBone though.
1000-1200 is what I've gone for. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a Switch this year and tons of other stuff too but hopefully my Ebaying will cover all these costs.

Probably £50 less than last year, as I won't get NMS
I'm going to vote £1-50 this year again, even though I rarely spend anything because of vouchers.

However, I'm going to try a few of the £3.99 style puzzle games this year on iOS, such as Day Of The Tentacle, and this might fall into that range.

It was the deciding which one to get that I was thinking of. Of course I say that without knowing how much experience you have of either.
<12.64> Assassin's Creed Humble Bundle (PC)
Probably a lot less than last year when I bought a PS VR, but I might be tempted by a PS Pro or posh XBone.
Anyway, <10> Homefront 2
<4.68> The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ DLC

This was supposed to be available a few hours ago but was delayed so I might not get much chance to play it tonight. On the plus side, I got a bit of a discount because I already owned the original Afterbirth.
<8.99> - Mirrors Edge : Catalyst at PSN
<2.47> The Odyssey Bundle. Mainly for Blacksea Odyssey, Zendodyne R and Zenohell
I'm off...

<13.99> on Virtua Cop 2 on the Dreamcast
<21> on Redux: Dark Matter... also for the Dreamcast
<15.03> 3d-printed replacement shifter plates for Thrustmaster TH8A shifter.

Ooooh do you have lightguns and a proper telly?

Confidential Mission and House Of The Dead 2 are fantastic games for the Dreamcast, especially with two players.

Also the dialogue in Confidential Mission is very amusing, and not intentionally so. Me and a mate used to be able to recite it all by rote.
I haven't got a proper telly set up at the moment but there's one in my mom and dads loft which I have my eye on.

I miss house of the dead 2 loads.
I think I'll probably spend about 300quid. Red dead is a definite purchase for me, probably gonna get some BF1 DLC and I'll probably drunkenly order some games at some point.

If you didn't like that, you're really going to be disappointed at what I'm planning on doing next.

Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles for the Xbox 360 (backwards compatible I might add!) <6.06>
<24.99> Trackball to play emulated trackball machines in MFME (Multiple Fruit Machine Emulator). The only reason I've bought it is to play these games so I hereby classify it as games expenditure.

You can also use it in MAME for :

Centipede
Missile Command
Crystal Castles
Combat School

And probably some other trackball controlled stuff

Yes I did consider it'd be useful for the handful of desirable trackball games in MAME. Marble Madness is one that immediately springs to mind.

It's basically for Crystal Maze and Mating Game though.
