There's a big difference between some short adverts and a feature length film. It certainly helps that they've got the tone of the character right but the film itself could still be a total mess with a bullshit incoherent story and terrible supporting characters. I'm fully expecting to enjoy the one-liners and whatnot but there's no more guarantee of a good overall film than with any other blockbuster unfortunately. Hope for the best but expect the worst and all that jazz.

Generally positive reviews of this that I'm reading, but there are a few scathing reviews dotted about. Not everyone has the same sense of humour though so I suppose this is to be expected.
Actually, I wonder how Airplane! reviewed back when it was released. Is there anyway to find that out, BeeX peeps? Y'know, like a cross section of old reviews back from the time old films were released without any modern day fluff averaging scores or owt? I suppose Wikipedia will do for that actually. I think its more that Airplane has soo many jokes that a good percentage will hit home for any given percentage... Its like a joke every twenty seconds, some really silly, some more clever.
Yeah, I reckon most comedy is pretty subjective but I think Airplane is exceptional in that anyone aged between five and dead who isn't a humourless fuck is going to laugh at lots of it.
I don't really remember liking airplane. I'm looking forward to Deadpool though!

Pretty damn amazing. I'm going to have to watch it again because of the 'holy crap I just missed what he just said because I was laughing at the last thing he said' thing.
ETA: it's full on Deadpool. No half measures. It's messy, self-referential, down right dirty. And I enjoyed the shit out of it.
