If I "fix" it, it'll break all the Android ones.

I had a nice, but cheap, IKEA corner desk set up in the times before kids. It's now dismantled and chucked down in the sex dungeon area under the house:

It was replaced by a little secondhand computer trolley, but that's now down in the garage with a load of crap piled on top of it:

Oh, 'where are the computers then?' I hear you ask. They're chucked down in the garage amongst some other shit also:

I've often thought about how work would be a decent place to hide out during a zombie apocalypse - somewhere quiet, good sightlines, couple of security fences,a food supply of sorts...

Considering how the room was - 1, 2, 3, I'm rather pleased to get everything actually tidy for probably the first time since I moved in here.

Came back to look at this thread to see when my room was tidy and I see that it was in June of last year. Right now, I'm surrounded by about thirty consoles that need testing an putting on the website.. along with their associates controllers and games. I think this weekend's plan will be to at least get the room in a state where I can actually walk around it properly. :S

How odd. I took a picture of my desk yesterday and at the time thought ‘no idea why I did that’. I must have known you were going to find this thread!

I think I was wondering why my desk always has stuff on it. There’s actually a sewing machine and overlocker on the back of the desk, too.

I have little tins like that for all the threads on the forum. I copy out all of my favourite replies onto little bits of paper and store them inside. That’s why I have so many pens.

My desk is the tidiest it's ever been since I set it up. This might be because I've taken almost everything off it and packed it away.

I also took a picture of it yesterday for seemingly no reason!

It took me a little while to get this, then I spotted the tin in the photo. :D

My desk isn't as pleasing on the eye, but it does have some new, useful additions -
- Rubbing alcohol. I find it very relaxing to clean cartridge contacts using it and the smell is rather nice too
- Dymo label printer. Prints 6x4 labels and has saved me so much time already.

On the plus side, at least at the back of the room, where I keep my loose SNES, Game Boy and Game Gear cartridges, is looking fairly tidy now.

I am in the process of being evicted so I am scaling back. Going to move a few things to mum's for when I am homeless. Don't trust drunks and drug addicts with my shit (hostel).

Ordered a desk it arrived there today.

Image

Proper modern and trendy. I bought this for £60 last week and it too arrived today.

Image

20" 1680x1050 (so ideal for the GTX 950) and then a Steelseries Kana V2 (pristine, never used it much) a £20 Amazon Tom Tit mech board (but Corsair K95 keycaps from my mate's dead board)

Image

And it should make for a reasonable set up. I am going to take over one of my hand made valve pre amps and one of my headphone amps also. Oh yeah, chair.

Pretty much because that is what I need. It's due to the very silly way this country works, but it goes a little something like this...

If I walk I get nowhere, apart from the bottom of the council list. If I go home, ditto, because apparently a 74 year old woman with osteoporosis and chronic arthritis can look after me and so on. There is nothing in place to help mentally ill people we are treated the same in housing as any one else. Thus, I need a section somethingorother and I need to be evicted, then homeless, before I stand any chance of getting a proper council flat.

Two years ago my landlady said she was sending around the estate agents. Which resulted in my first suicide attempt in about 20 years (overdose of Zopiclone). From that moment on this has not been a home, but a anchor around my neck. I am pretty confident it also played a large part in my wife and I splitting up (she went homeless and now has a proper home) and so on. My psychs, social workers etc have all been down to housing and fought for me, but inevitably that is how it is and that is what I have to do. Get the section 21? I think it is? which will cost my landlady (but I don't care about that because I hate her) and then be homeless, go into a B&B, hostel and so on. Providing I don't pop my cork during it all because it will be the most stressful thing I have ever had to deal with.

So aye, on a sinking ship ATM.

Could you not have rented somewhere else in the two years, and saved a load of stress?

No, because no one will rent to me because I am on benefits. Obviously what they are saying is "No chavs who don't pay their rent and spunk their HB" but they are blanket banning people like me who have never missed a rent payment ever. The housing system is badly, badly broken and only caters to people wanting free flats and the mortgage fully paid. They are also much more expensive than the allowance you are given, and thus is why most people on benefits don't pay their rent. For example my rent is £60 more than I am given every month and she tried recently banging it up to £600, another £40.

Like I say, it's all completely fucked up. One side of the rental market (private) is discriminating against me because I am disabled and the other is saying I am as able as any one else. And I can assure you, I fuckin' ain't. In fact I wish there was a mental hospital around here that I could check into for a week now and then to stop putting so much pressure on my mother being the only one to deal with it. At her age it's not fair.

But yeah I spent three months looking for somewhere to "bail to" as soon as my landlady said she was selling the place, only to be met with a blanket of ignorance and discrimination.
