The bit on the zip that you grip has turned sideways. It’s one of those that ain’t supposed to do that.

That’s correct. It just works its way sideways but is very difficult to get back into the correct position. They’re like those metal puzzles you get in Christmas crackers. It happened on my several zips on my last pair of work trahziz and is a bloody nuisance. These are relatively new and this is the first time it’s happened. Why they don’t have the round loops on them, I don’t know.

Happy Hour at a particular pub starts at 16:00. I bought my pint at 15:50. That's 45p I could have saved were I not so impatient.

I think that with that info, we can work out Kern's Annualised Beer Discount rate. He'd rather have a beer now than a beer and 45p in 10 mins. Extrapolating out, Kern would rather have:

* A beer now over a beer and £2.70 in an hour.
* A beer now over a beer and £64.80 in a day.
* A beer now over a beer and £23,652 in a year.

Worth bearing in mind if you ever owe him money.

€270 to get on register of foreign births in Ireland. So, that's €1080 in total. Then passports are €80 a pop. Bloody hell.

MrsDoc’s UK visas, ILR, and citizenship cost us somewhere north of £5k.

I bought a cheap USB charger off eBay a few years ago and whilst I've been dubious of it, it's worked flawlessly.... Until today.

I've just plugged it in only for it to 'pop' and smell funny.

At least it didn't burn my house down with it!

They've fiddled with the settings of the toilet lights at work, so that they go off after about 5 mins of inactivity. The sensors don't catch movement in the cubicles, and the office is quite empty right now as we're in the process of moving, so foot traffic isn't enough to keep them on. Therefore, even a relatively brief gaming session will result in the lights going off, leaving you in a cubicle in total darkness.

The really annoying thing is that the sensor is right by the door, away from the cubicles and slow to react. There;s always the chance that someone else will come in and find you walking across the toilet in the dark.

After we had our bathrooms and downstairs toilet redone last year my wife asked me to get rid of the string that controlled the light in the small toilet

The slight issue was she waited until all the work was done! So I had a sensor fitted that turns the light on when you go in, it lasts for 20 seconds and even when I'm sat on the toilet it won't pick me up until I wave my arm in the air.

My son refuses to use it as he rightly calls it the dark toilet :)

So waiting until I have some cash and replacing it with a heat sensor, also doing this with the lights at the front of the house as they come on all the time when the wind blows bushes and annoy our guests in the downstairs room.

I reckon that’s Sal waiting two minutes, deciding nobody needs to be on the loo that long, then flipping your through-the-wall bathroom switch off next to your racing car chair.

A heat sensor for the toilet light? What's wrong with pulling the cord to turn it on?

The cord has gone and I have a motion sensor that isn't very good\set up well

Really I should just get rid of the sensor and use a Hue bulb & hue sensor

Need the heat ones at the front though as they come on all the time with wind blowing bushes etc

I'm as much a fan of needless tech as much as the next person, but it's pretty clear that a light that turns off when you're shitting is not any kind of a good thing. Just have a light switch, weirdos.

The problem with that is for 9 trips out of 10 to the loo it would be far too long.

I don't understand why you just wouldn't have a pull cord. I'm going to get it changed as soon as I can.

Yeah. But at least it's sensitive enough to come back on if you wave your hand about. :)

So's mine, but having to wave your hand about while shitting is suboptimal imo.

Mine doesn't turn off while you're shitting. But then I also have two bathroom windows so even if it did you wouldn't exactly be plunged into darkness.

There's a house over the way with a massive floodlight on the back of their house so we get some light through the windows even at night.

I suppose the funny thing is that night time is the only time the sensor light actually bothers me, as I'd rather go for a piss in the dark so my eyes don't start to adjust (I also keep my bedroom pitch black). Very rarely get up in the night to pee since I stopped drinking though.
